Avatar f tn Your central nervous system has created a multitude of opioid receptors that all are screaming for endorphins (opiates) to fill them, but your body has now forgotten how to make them by itself. It will take time - two to four weeks at least, for your receptors to down-regulate (for the brain begin to heal) and to start making its own endorphins. Brain heals pretty slowly, so it may take you as long as a couple of months to get rid of feelings of sluggishness, restlessness and depression.
Avatar m tn If you suffer future hairloss I would reccommend proscar( it is propecia but get a pill cutter and cut pills into 4) you have to take it every day but it works for almost everyone to prevent hairloss and maybe grow back more. It has worked for me.

Avatar n tn Finasteride goes by the brand name Propecia (for MPB) and Proscar (for BPH) and is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor used to treat male pattern baldness (MPB) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) [enlargement of the prostate]. The medication works by inhibiting the enzyme that converts testosterone to its bioactive metabolite dihydrotestosterone thus decreasing its levels in the body.
250398 tn?1225263291 My issue though is that I work out of the country and am not in an area where I can find medical help that is fluent enough in English to understand me or for me to understand them. So, any additional information and/or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Avatar n tn i'm so sorry this happened to you...i used to take wellbutrin and began to lose my hair....the person who prescribed it to me didn't believe that it was the cause and i also stopped taking it and began taking centrum silver to help my hair (it does help a little). i also refuse to take any ADs due to all of the side effects that either docs don't tell you about or just don't know. take good care of yourself.
Avatar n tn Over the past few weeks have started to notice small unintentional movements in various parts of my body: legs, hands, fingers, feet, arms. This isn't muscle twitching or spasms, rather my extremities move very slightly often after performing some kind of function with them. For example, I move my arm and after the intended movement it will jerk/contract very slightly in some direction very quickly and stop -- almost as if the muscles in my arm are contracting very quickly and releasing.
Avatar f tn However, after reading information here I am going to be more persistent. Since, hair loss becomes more evident for me (I am a woman in my 30 & I hope you would understand what it means to see your hair go buy buy), I find it hard to cope. My question is how can I safely to taper off clonazepam and substitute it with something else not from benzohell family. Hydroxyzine perhaps? Please advise me safe tappering schedule and substitution for clonazepam. What should I do with remeron?

Avatar m tn Hello, Stress can be one of the causes for hair loss. Other than that alopecia aereta should be ruled out. The causes for excessive hair fall may be physiological or pathological and include hormonal changes, fungal infection, physical effects (traction, heat, chemicals), psychological & stress-related reasons, thyroid disorders, iron deficiency anemia, excessive intake of Vitamin A, hereditary reasons etc.
Avatar f tn In some cases, there is a need to treat the underlying cause for resolution of the hair loss. Take care always.
Avatar m tn Hi doctor, I have been experiencing hair loss for about 7 years now. It's getting to the point where I will have to shave it all off soon. It's quite noticeable. I have no hair loss in my family at all. None on my mum or dads side. I'm the only one. I have however suffered from bad anxiety (stress) for quite some years now and wondering if this would be the main cause? Is stress making my hair fall out? I'm quite healthy and all my most recent blood tests are all fine.

Avatar n tn I have also noticed that I have had hair loss as well. How many milligrams of folic acid do you take, and can you take it every day, because you wrote 1 a day, or even 1 every other day. Do you know if there are bad side effects if you take folic acid every day?

490443 tn?1236648256 t you? As for the hair loss, it happened to me too when I was hypo. Your tsh level is still pretty high, which could be the reason your hair is still dropping. How long have you been on the meds originally, and why did they switch you? They'll most likely keep you a little on the hyper side for cancer suppression. I've been on Levoxyl for a year now, and I noticed about 6 months after taking it that I had a lot of new hair growth.
Avatar n tn Is there any supplement that I should take to solve or at least improve my hair loss problem like Zinc or DHT Blockers or Iron?.
230948 tn?1235844329 Does the hair loss on the belly extend to the same place on both sides of the belly? Is the hair loss behind the right ear the same as the hair loss behind the left ear? Or is the hair loss random, with a patch missing here and there in the areas you described? If the hair loss is bilaterally equal from one side of the body to the other, then you need to consider a couple of things. It could be mange. It could also be hormonally triggered.
Avatar f tn 5, so now I am on thyroid meds (levothyroxin), thinking that maybe tha could be contributing to my hair loss. Just recently my eyelashes started falling out really easily, just if i rubbed my eye or was taking my make up off. Could all of this be related? Does anyone have any advice? or know what could possibly be wrong with me? I really need help. I would greatly appreciate it.
Avatar n tn Yeah stress can be an issue, however have you ever heard of Polycystic Ovarian Disease or otherwise known as PCO or PCOS. I have this and it can cause irregular periods, acne, hair loss, facial hair or excess body hair, bloating or weight gain, insulin resistance, infertility, ovarian cysts and hormonal imbalances. I have had this for many years and it is treatable once you are aware of it. First of all you need to be tested just to be sure. Ask your OBGYN to test you for this.
Avatar n tn Plus when I cut my hair its all one colour, and when it starts to grow where I lost the hair from last year it shows black dots like a patch of black?
