Avatar n tn he tried avodart for 1 year but not worked good for him thats why he stop and try another drug name proscar...
Avatar f tn Stress will certainly cause more hair loss. And opiate withdrawals causes stress. When you take opiates for a long time like you have, your body's physiology has been altered. Your central nervous system has created a multitude of opioid receptors that all are screaming for endorphins (opiates) to fill them, but your body has now forgotten how to make them by itself.
Avatar m tn Use it twice a week it will clean out all the **** from your scalp and provide a healthy environment for hair loss. Minoxidil is **** because it can irritate your scalp(especially at 5%) and even caus other problems. If you suffer future hairloss I would reccommend proscar( it is propecia but get a pill cutter and cut pills into 4) you have to take it every day but it works for almost everyone to prevent hairloss and maybe grow back more. It has worked for me.
Avatar n tn Finasteride goes by the brand name Propecia (for MPB) and Proscar (for BPH) and is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor used to treat male pattern baldness (MPB) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) [enlargement of the prostate]. The medication works by inhibiting the enzyme that converts testosterone to its bioactive metabolite dihydrotestosterone thus decreasing its levels in the body.
Avatar f tn I assumed that that was stress-related. After a few years, I am still experiencing hair loss, although I am no longer stressed. I wash my hair twice a week. I lose about 50-70 strands in the shower, and on days where I do not wash my hair, I probably lose about 10-20 strands. I then thought it might have been a nutrient deficiency. I have been taking supplements (including those with plenty of biotin and collagen) for about five months, but I have not seen any positive change.
Avatar f tn •Family history of male or female pattern baldness Hair loss can occur in women for reasons other than female pattern baldness, including the following: •Hormonal abnormalities, such as too much testosterone, or too much or too little thyroid hormone •Iron deficiency •Medications such as chemotherapy and beta blockers •Vitamin deficiency (such as biotin) http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001173.
Avatar m tn Mostly it appears to be thinning and I began to notice it about a month ago and to me it seems to be getting worse by the week. There is no history of hair loss in my family men or women before menopause. I have been experiencing irregular periods for the past two year but they have recently been regular. It seems strange to me that a female of my age would be having hair loss. Do you think its permanent? What should I do?

Avatar f tn It started freaking me out so my hubby looked it up and said the number one cause of hair loss in women is pregnancy...
Avatar n tn I would say that I lost between 30-50% of my hair. I am applying Minixodil for women since one month and I have not seen any improvement. Is this because of Graves Disease or is it a side effect of Tapazole. Is there any supplement that I should take to solve or at least improve my hair loss problem like Zinc or DHT Blockers or Iron?.
Avatar f tn I have to first ask if you have had your thyroid checked? This is a reason for many women having hair loss. Since you are noting some nutritional deficiencies, can you rebalance those to see if it impacts your hair loss? That's what I'd try. Have your thyroid checked. And is there any hope for you with the various hair loss products out there to improve things?
Avatar f tn my husband is getting ready to start treatment. i am wondering about hair loss. does this always happen? and does it come back after treatment?
Avatar f tn I am a young female with PCOS. The initial complaint that I brought to my doctor was experiencing hair growth on my face, excess hair growth on my arms/legs/bikini, and hair loss on my head. I've since begun laser hair removal on my face and arms, but I am about 4 treatments in (24 wks) and am not noticing results. It is becoming more and more difficult to hold my head high- many days I don't even want to be seen in public.

Avatar n tn ve looked at several medication blog sites and have seen numerous posts of women reporting hair loss from anti-depressants including Wellbutrin so I was really questioning the validity of the "less than 1%" finding from the Wellbutrin trials.
192918 tn?1199451179 So this is a very silly question - but I'm having A LOT of hair loss....to the point that I'm getting some ugly bald spots (not at all pretty on women!!) When I finally get on the right meds, will my hair grow back or will I always be stuck with bald spots/thin hair?
