Avatar f tn Has anyone had hair loss post tx, like 1 yr. later. I am having alot of hair loss in the past 3 weeks. I am also wondering if it is o.k. to take hair vitamins. Not currently on tx. I take fish oil, garlic, vit D and calcium. I think since I am not on tx. that this is O.K. Am I wrong?
Avatar f tn Hair grows in cycles and some times we have more hair loss than others. Stress will certainly cause more hair loss. And opiate withdrawals causes stress. When you take opiates for a long time like you have, your body's physiology has been altered. Your central nervous system has created a multitude of opioid receptors that all are screaming for endorphins (opiates) to fill them, but your body has now forgotten how to make them by itself.
Avatar f tn Hello sir, I am a female 33 years old(this week) and experiencing hair loss. I've never had to deal with hairloss issues and have always had thick black hair. It all started last winter with dandruff that I ignored(didnot use any antidandruff shampoos and was washing hair once a week) that turned into snow tons of dandruff and I continued to ignore it for about 4 monts (from Jan to April) During the month of March, I lost 4.5 lbs, and had a major certification exam in April, which I passed.
Avatar m tn Thyroid hair loss would be all over - as in thinning throughout the hair for general thinning, while pattern baldness would be thinning in certain spots. At least, that is what happened to me.
Avatar f tn Anyway I am loosening a significant amount of hair. Has any other FEMALE gotten bald spots or lost a lot of hair?
Avatar n tn Finasteride goes by the brand name Propecia (for MPB) and Proscar (for BPH) and is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor used to treat male pattern baldness (MPB) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) [enlargement of the prostate]. The medication works by inhibiting the enzyme that converts testosterone to its bioactive metabolite dihydrotestosterone thus decreasing its levels in the body.
Avatar f tn I am a female 44yrs and about a month ago my hair started falling. I have had blood tests done (all normal) invested in a hairvite and Vigro tonic for hairloss and thinning but still falling at an alarming rate. PLEASE HELP!! Avatar f tn I am a young female with PCOS. The initial complaint that I brought to my doctor was experiencing hair growth on my face, excess hair growth on my arms/legs/bikini, and hair loss on my head. I've since begun laser hair removal on my face and arms, but I am about 4 treatments in (24 wks) and am not noticing results. It is becoming more and more difficult to hold my head high- many days I don't even want to be seen in public.
Avatar m tn I'm a 25 year old female who is experiencing kind of sudden frontal hair loss. Mostly it appears to be thinning and I began to notice it about a month ago and to me it seems to be getting worse by the week. There is no history of hair loss in my family men or women before menopause. I have been experiencing irregular periods for the past two year but they have recently been regular. It seems strange to me that a female of my age would be having hair loss. Do you think its permanent?
Avatar f tn Hello, I have been having severe hair loss for quite some time and had basically given up and accepted it’s just female pattern alopecia (even though it is not in my familial genes)....until recently. I was recently found to have a B12 level of 236. From what I have read even though that is considered within normal ranges, anything from 200-400 is low and can cause symptoms. I was placed on OTC supplements.
Avatar f tn I am a 55 year old female with loss of hair on her forearms and eyebrows. I have a some thinning at the temples. My TSH is 2.570 - which my GP says is normal. He thinks hair loss may be a result of stress, however, I have not been under any more stress than normal life. I have had high cholesterol and osteoporosis for many years, which have not responded to meds. What do you think? Can you have a normal TSH and still have a thyroid issue?
Avatar n tn first of all- did you check her for tinea capitis? (a fungal infection of the scalp, with round patches of hair loss, breaking of hair, and scaling?) it is easy to treat ! if it is not this and dermatologist did not find the answer, a biopsy of the scalp is reasonable. connection between hair loss and bowel movement- maybe some nutrient deficiency- vitamins, iron, celiac disease, a pediatric dermatologist might help.
Avatar f tn I am a 26-year-old female with no family history of female hair loss. Most men in my family also have their hair except for my father who has had some hair loss (but isn't completely bald). I recently saw a dermatologist for hair loss that had been occurring for a few years. He looked at my scalp and told me, after listening to my hair loss history, that it seemed to be early onset female pattern hair loss.
Avatar n tn s and as you know, being female and caring about your hair go hand in hand. I use Suave dry shampoo to make the hair appear thicker. My forehead area has noticeable thinning and you can see right through to the scalp. The dry shampoo makes each strand appear thicker therefore covering my bald spots, per say. I do have dark blonde hair though... not sure how brown or darker hair would respond.
1717715 tn?1318297295 He told me age has nothing to do with my hair loss and I am the same age as you. He did tell me that the Metoprolol DOES cause hair loss/thinning and that I should NOT discontinue the medication. He ordered test but his advise to me? Get a wig! (or a hair transplant) LOL!!
Avatar n tn Anemia is common in pregnancy and a big cause for female pattern hair loss. Maybe iron supplements would help. But blood tests would say for sure. Also thyroid count (low or high) can affect hair loss.
Avatar n tn I am also experiencing a sudden increase in hair loss whenever I wash or brush my hair. I stopped using a hair dryer as soon as the hair loss started and have tried various things like changing my diet to healthier foods, changing shampoos, using natural products like coconut oil, egg, yogurt, and henna (my mother swears by them, and she has always had really nice hair, even though it is very fine), but nothing has worked.
Avatar n tn So I went to a dermatologist, who gave me some shampoos that were supposed to help stop hair loss. instead the shampoos made my hair loss worse and gave me dandruff. I started experiencing severe burning sensation on my scalp. It felt like someone is pouring acid on it. It even felt painful to move my hair in any direction. It was so excruciating I ended up in the urgent care twice. They ran a bunch of thyroid and hormonal tests which came back fine.
Avatar n tn If your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment thyroid disease. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance. Correcting the hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss. Many women notice hair loss about 3 months after they've had a baby. This loss is also related to hormones.
