Common Questions and Answers about Heartburn symptoms hives

Avatar f tn Sheesh - aren't the weight gain, hot flushes etc was not enough to contend with... Mine hives however, have come with a nasty dose of heartburn - which all screams allergy to me. I'm anaphylactic and the hives (generally all over) and heartburn (to the point where I can't even sit down, let alone lie down) are signs I'm heading for a crash to epi pen stage. This doesn't feel like that - being contained to only my wrists and inner thighs.
Avatar n tn nothing seemed to help they help reduce the symptoms for a short period of time but hives just keep coming back, every night I wake up in the middle of the night and find my self covered with red bumpy rash all over my body..even though I took 20 mg of zyrtec before going to bed...I feel dizzy and have a very bad heart burn or acid reflex..seen allergists and my regular doctor..
Avatar f tn I told the ER doc that I had really bad heartburn so all he did was give me some kind of antacid or something like that in my IV. Hives and itching are gone but the heartburn is still there and it really hurts. This is the first and hopefully the last time this has ever happened to me. I'm drinking Maalox but its not helping. Should I go back to see a doctor about it? I see alot of you have the same problem and it looks like there's no relief in sight. I'm worried that I won't get help.
Avatar n tn One of the posts mentioned stomach problems at the same time as the hives. I have had chronic heartburn for quite some time. Maybe there is a relation? Never though of it before.
Avatar n tn I had no idea this was so common! I have all the common symptoms such as hives / welts on my legs, butt, arms, stomach, back, neck, shoulders, face, feet, hands (even my palms and bottoms of my feet) and scalp. I get severe chest pains, severe swelling of my feet and face (lips, eyes, throat, tongue etc.) and soreness in the joints. I find it particularly suspicious that these things come at night and, for me, are worst first thing in the morning when I wake up and get out of bed.
Avatar n tn atarax treats anxiety, nausea and hives. You can't just treat the symptoms ....with hives you really need to try to get to the root of it. Also, almost forgot to mention this...atarax is still a commonly perscribed drug and very reliable but it's also very very strong....so it's not a bad idea to cut the higher dose in half....for some reason I think it only comes in 25mg tabs...so get a pill cutter and take half. Believe me it will still work.
Avatar m tn I was taking these for 3 days and the hives and heartburn have gone away. Every now and then I can feel the heartburn and I resume the meds. I do not take them everyday now because I do not want my body to get use to the meds. And I also avoid foods, drinks and other products that contain sulfites.
Avatar f tn It started with really painful heartburn mainly as night, I would wake up in the middle of the night with chest pain from the heartburn then end up suffering a panic attack as I thought something was seriously wrong. I went to my gp who suggested my heartburn can be made worse by stress and that stress can make heartburn worse.
610453 tn?1259108322 I have researched this and seen many specialists, and unfortunately I have been told by my ENT surgeon and endocrinologist that there is no guarantee that the surgery will cure the hives. The thyroid antibodies found in Hashimoto's and chronic hives are definitely related but your body will continue to produce the antibodies after surgery. I'm still hopeful that there will be some relief. I found ice packs to be useful in my first bout but it is different this time.
Avatar n tn I do also suffer from cold urticaria (which is when you get hives from cold temperatures). Did your symptoms abate during pregnancy or did you have hives the entire time?
Avatar f tn At the time of having them for nearly 2 years I was in a very unhappy long term relationship and within a month or so of that ending also the hives ended! I feel for anyone who has hives and my best advice if the doctors can not find the cause is to look at makeing life as little stress free as possible and live as natural as possible and see if that helps. Best of luck to you all Im sure the answers will find their way to you.
Avatar n tn Allergist ordered a histamine level test that ranges from 0-6, I came in at 11. Hives come in the middle of the night, I wake up with small spots of blood on arms, legs, back and face from scratching in my sleep as well as spots and welts. They usually attack different parts of my body one at a time. By mid morning I feel better, no spots, dots or itching. I have tried taking a dose of benadryl before bed, not much help. I have since lost faith in my allergist.
176741 tn?1295237589 In time that went away, but over the course of years I've developed a skin condition similar to hives. They appear nearly anywhere, but rarely on my face or scalp. Have any of you ever experienced anything like this? Do you think it is associated with my thyroid? Over the years I've changed laundry detergents, soaps, etc...I use every hypoallergenic product I can find. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn to discover that his chest and waist were blanketed by itchy hives. "I wasn't sure what was going on," Newell said, so he got up and took a shower, increasingly alarmed by the huge, spreading welts. "I got into bed and tried to relax until morning." At 7 a.m., while driving to his general practitioner's office, Newell realized his lips felt numb. He sat in the empty waiting room, hoping the doctor would arrive soon, while he could still talk.
Avatar f tn Now, 3 months after the hives started, if I drink even a small amount of milk, I immediately have allergic symptoms, hives, acid reflux and then hours later digestive issues. So, a milk allergy sounds like the problem and I love cheese and now when I look at everything I eat, I consume dairy products every day! Until I can go to an allergist, I am going to eliminate all dairy products and products containing casein and whey from my diet to see if the symptoms stop.
Avatar f tn Low bile cause fats to bind with minerals, causing low mineral absorption, heartburn, gall stones, liver toxicity, low fat absorption , low cholesterol synthesis-the latter 2 lead to low hormonal production. 3. Healthy gut flora gets replaced by toxins and harmful byproducts of partially digested foods. This results to lower immune function. 4. Low Methylation due to lower absorption leading to inadequate methyl donors.
Avatar f tn Also, I went out of town with my husband a week ago and stayed at a hotel, and I got the same hives. I am not sure what this could be. I don't have any other symptoms other than heartburn every day, which is probably unrelated.

Avatar n tn This wipes out 95% of the hives. If I forget the meds for a day, my hives will pop up. I still get the feeling of heartburn, kind of a "peanut butter in the chest" feeling that often seems to correspond to flares of hives. The doctors have run a ton of tests and cannot find any cause. It seems like heartburn and hives are not a rare combination, just which the doctors knew more!
Avatar f tn I have also been experiencing very painful heartburn, sometimes at the same time I break out in hives. These always occur at night only, which is the weirdest part. Ive gotten heartburn during the day before of course, but my hives always happen at night, late at night to be exactly (always after 12am in the morning). I might also add that the hives I get only appear on my neck, head and face.
Avatar n tn If you didn't have the spine imaged, you should talk to your doc as MS can show up there too. Hypothyroidism can certainly be a cause of your symptoms. Once treated adequately, your symptoms may improve. Another test that may be helpful is an EMG to see if this a problem of your peripheral nerves. Laboratory workup such as ANA, sed rate, blood count and electrolye profile can also help rule out other potential problems such as lupus and other rheumatological disorders.
Avatar f tn I am finally on a new drug xolair shots, which seem to be working for the hives, but heartburn is unbearable. Can the two be related. What can I do, this is horrible. This discussion is related to Hives and heart burn.
231178 tn?1333212359 Last Summer I began to experience extreme itching after a day working outiside. I had attributed this to high perspiration and bacteria growth. I took lots of showers using bacterial soap to no avail. Then, I experienced an extreme case of facial swelling (lips, eyes and asthma like throat restriction) after a dinner meal. The symptoms disappeared in about 24 hours. That came and went in over a period of several months.

Avatar n tn I had mine inserted this past Feb. I just started having the exact same symptoms. I am going to take a hpt. Let me know if you find out whats causing your problems.
Avatar n tn I'm very tightly wound and anxious, and I've had panic/anxiety episodes in the past, but never with hives. What's most probable? That the hives were caused by anxiety (disputable), or that they were caused by a herpes viral infection? I've never had a reaction to Valtrex before. Also, testing, assuming typical lesions don't show up, given my Valtrex, how long do I need to wait for a conclusive blood test? Also, what are these small red rashes?
