Avatar n tn My baby is 3months old and has a heart murmur. what are the effects of this what will happen in later stsges for such problems. is there any serious issue.
Avatar f tn I took my 2 week old daughter to her 2 week check-up with her doctor and was told she had a heart murmur. The murmur was not picked up at the hospital. The murmur is only heard on the left side, but can be heard from the back and side as well and they said it was loud. The doctor also said that it was only heard on the systolic cycle. She has never been blue in her lips, she has a pulse in the femoral arteries and she eats fine.
Avatar f tn I think it is great you have learned how to listen to your daughter's heart. It sounds like a good sign that you aren't hearing the murmur now, but you can't count on that as meaning the VSD has completely closed. The echo will tell you that for sure and I'd expect that your MD would be glad to listen to your daughter's heart before then, if you wish. It is wonderful news that the VSD has reduced from 3.5 mm to 2 mm.
Avatar f tn My doctor found the heart murmur though the stethoscope and I have to get an echocardiogram done to makem sure it doesn't become serious.
Avatar n tn My son has a murmur he is 4. my older son had a murmur also. with my older one I never knew he had a murmur until 2 years ago when his doctor said it was gone. (he is now 9) the base your murmur on a grade scale. Dr. H never told me what dillan's murmur was. When my youngest was born his wasa grade 6/6 meaning it was very loud. I could put my ear on his chest and hear the "sound" it was weird. almost like a ultrasound they do when your pregnant. a swooshing sound.
Avatar f tn Now, all of a sudden my primary physician this year informs me that I have a heart murmur, Then I go for a routine breast MRI to check for breast cancer? No cancer (thank God), but I do have a enlarged dilatation of the ascending aorta to 3.5cm and advised to see a cardiologist. What can I expect? I do regular gym work outs, weights & cardio 2-3 times per week and "hot" vinyasa & pilates 5 times per week. my blood pressure is consistent and on the low side.
1661682 tn?1313138996 I found out after I had my little girl I have a heart murmur. We didnt no this when I was pregnant before so it was left alone but I've experienced really bad palpitations in this pregnancy it seems to be getting worse. My brother has hypotrophic cardio miopathy (enlargement of the heart wall) meaning he had to have open heart surgery so they are keeping an eye on me incase mine goes the same way but I'm worried having this murmur will, cause problems in labour. What do you guys think.
Avatar m tn I now have a new onset of a Heart Murmur. Has anyone experienced this as well? Has anyone had both AFIB and a newly onset Heart Murmur? What are the LLMD's saying? I just received this diagnosis and will be going in for the holter monitor and echo during the month of May. I am a 49 year old male. Until Lyme I enjoyed regular exercise and always passed physicals and stress tests with flying colors. I had a normal echocardiogram ten years ago.
Avatar m tn ) She is presently 20 years old and was detected with a 'murmur' in heart during her childhood. By default, she has distinctly 'higher (heart) pulse rate' than normal human (but her 'blood pressure' is in the normal human's acceptable range). So here are my queries: 1) The consulted doctor's opinion is that she would have a 'shorter lifespan' (40~45 years in total). Can this be true ?
Avatar f tn This makes interpretation of a heart murmur in an apparently healthy cat difficult. Does the cat have latent heart disease or no disease at all? Numerous studies looking at cats with heart murmurs and with HCM have been conducted and are difficult to interpret for numerous factors (different criteria for the definition of HCM, circumstances under which murmurs were heard etc.) It is not clear what percentage of apparently healthy cats are hiding HCM.
Avatar f tn Keep in Mind that the sockets are Openings directly to the Blood Stream and is Literally inches away from the heart meaning The body Hardly has Time to attack infection... I'm sure she'll be great , I was born with a Murmur myself and am back to being a Regular Vascular Nightmare for My Docs , after 10 years recovering from Aortic dissection and anuerysms behind my knees 3 years afib which was fixed 4 months ago...
Avatar n tn Heart murmurs can be completely benign (meaning, they cause no harm at all) or a symptom of a very serious heart defect. If you have a concern about a heart murmur in a newborn, the baby's doctor would have to tell you what they think suspect the problem is from. Most heart murmurs can simply be watched, if there is no other accompanying symptoms of difficulties present with the infants health.
Avatar m tn Hi , My daughter who is 7 had a murmur in the heart since she was born . She had been seeing a cardiologist every 6 months , he gave us hope that the hole in her heart would heal by itself until last week when he told us that she had four holes now and that the biggest one is about four mm and that she may need surgery ?! I ' m worried and need more information. Thanks a lot.
Avatar n tn It is reassuring that the ultrasound of your heart and EKG were normal, meaning that there probably was not an overwhelming amount of damage done to your heart as a result of this small heart attack. But this does not mean that you have small vessel disease: Small vessel disease is diagnosed usually on a left heart catheterization where one sees that the large blood vessels of the heart are widely open.
Avatar f tn Had a blood test, chest x ray and stethoscope examination. Everything came out great, except the doctor found an innocent heart murmur. Admittedly I was worried at the time. I was worried about the murmur part, but felt better when I found on the net that innocent means harmless. I had a ecocardigram anyway. The test came out great, I think the murmur had gone as well. I'm suffering from stress, and have been thinking about my heart rate a lot. I feel these strange heart beats.
Avatar f tn I was told I have a slight heart murmur. I've also noticed I get heart spasms throughout the day, sometimes every few minutes. It feels like my heart skips a beat and I have to take a deep breath. Right after the spasm, I get a pain that shoots up into my head and my head throbs, then sometimes I have a bad headache for a while. Do you have any idea what this is or what causes it? Is there anything I can do to make it stop? Thank you!
151668 tn?1239924705 Summary: Went to OB-GYN a month ago and they discovered I had a heart murmur that was most likely caused by my pregnancy. They still sent me to a Cardiologist for tests (to be safe) Went to cardiologist and had an EKG done. The test came out fine. They wanted to do an Echocardiogram, too (just to be safe) So I went Friday to the Cardiologist and had the test done. Was told it looks like I have a hole in my heart.
Avatar f tn Your question is very difficult to answer and I think you will be better off finding a super specialists -- meaning someone that specializes in congenital heart disease and deals with this all the time. That being said, I want to caution you that murmurs are important physical findings that are sometimes difficult to translant into an exact science, especially in the days of echocardiography.
Avatar n tn Hello Doctor, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for hosting this forum, I've posted once before and have found it very informative and helpful, thank you! I have a few questions concerning PVC's & PAC's. I have been evaluted by two different cardiologists with a battery of tests and everthing is normal, noted 1/2 apical ejection (flow) murmur only (28 year old male, 5' 11", 190LBS, athletic). 1.
Avatar m tn Only an exercise physiologist can safely and expertly measure it. I have a great resting heart rate, declared in good health, but I have a max heart rate that is 13% above the 220-age estimate, and I reach 90% of even this high max too quickly to run a "normal" Cooper 1.5 mile test. This causes my heart to bust the "exercise here range" after the first warmup minute or two. After two years of hoping to lower the slope of my heart rate vs.
Avatar n tn I wonder if it has something to do with the low blood pressure? Mine is often 100ish/56-65. I also have a heart murmur, so I thought maybe the machine was picking up on that.
661200 tn?1225486613 His stomach was definitely extended and being the sweetheart that he is, Fei would hide under furniture during his coughing spells to not show you he's in agony. I brought him to the vet that night and after hearing a heart murmur, an x-ray was conducted showing white the vet said was MILD CHF. So the treatment began... bloodwork, x-rays to determine if there's existing fluid build up and meds. He was initially given Vetmedin, soloxine, keycotuss and enalapril.
1416390 tn?1333905204 My little (7.5lb) rescue-Shitzu/Maltese is now 8, has heart murmur but no fluid and has been treated by vet consistently for past 2 years. Her cough and gagging sounds are so upsetting to watch. I was told that her enlarged heart is pressing on her trachea, was prescribed opioid and cough drops on two separate occasions. Neither helped but it seemed to get worse. She tries so hard not to vomit and swallows whatever comes up which looks like phlegm to me.
Avatar n tn Is there anything else I can do to lower my chance of heart disease, besides watching my diet and exercising (I run regularly four miles three times a week). Also, you should know that I have no evidence of heart murmur or genetic or other valve problems, with the exception of aortic sclerosis. Thanks for your time.
Avatar m tn , my gp (who is a specialist nurse really) said she doesn't hear a heart murmur. Now I haven't been to the dentist out of fear since I was 6, my teeth now have a myriad of issues with them and frankly I'm scared. I have a hole in one of my teeth that will probably need a root canal or extraction and plenty others with cavities that might need fillings. I also have been prescribed 2G of amoxil to take 1 hour before the dentist. with all of this said, should I fear endocarditis in this case?
Avatar n tn It's a relief to know there are people out there experiencing the same thing as me. I was born with a heart murmur but it supposedly healed. I have experienced palps since as long as I can remember. I am 26 female and I feel them more than ever. Sometimes I feel like i am going to die when my heart races and I feel so nausiated. I have 2 young children and I don't want to leave them. I have gone to the doctor and she did an EKG and blood work and everything was fine.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing these spells of a rapid heart rate, so fast that I can't even count my pulse. Sometimes I have dizziness, and I get a bit winded sometimes. They last 8-10 minutes. Almost every time before an episode starts I get a very weird sensation in the back of my throat. When it's over I feel a very hard "thump" and then my heart rate is back to normal. This all started about 9yrs ago.
Avatar f tn I have just had a 24hr holter monitor and my doctor did say I now have heart murmur too. Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this or knows what it could be? Thanks.
Avatar n tn The hospital team is also concern about her biological history, (meaning her Heart Murmur at birth or perhaps a Thyroid imbalance). My questions and concerns are how can a heart murmur effect, bring about symptoms of depression? Is a heart murmur relavant? Thank you for your time and response.
