Heart murmur in golden retriever

Common Questions and Answers about Heart murmur in golden retriever

heart

Avatar n tn I have a 7yr. old Golden Retriever who was diagnosed three years ago with a "suspected heart murmur." This has now been confirmed, and the blood test result is in the "middle range" and the vet thinks it is a leaking heart valve. The dog is showing no symptoms whatsoever, and the vet suggests that it would be a good idea to start him on Vetmedin before he begins to show symptoms.
Avatar m tn I had a beloved Golden Retriever that turned 13 February 2nd and passed away early February.Up until this past New Years weekend she appeared in great health and had a complete physical in April 2008 and another one in early November 2008 with very good results.New Years weekend was great weather for walking so we both eagarly walked quite a bit,a little more than usual but my little girl was eager to walk and sniff,as Goldens do.
Avatar n tn please next time anyone who reads this and has a golden retriever when you visit your vet ask them to do a thorough test to check for any heart murmur. he is link to what I found:http://www.akcchf.org/canine-health/your-dogs-health/disease-information/aortic-stenosis.html lastly, everyday give your dog a big hug and tell him how much you love him. this happened so quickly I'm not sure how long it will be before I stop missing him. rusty was the greatest!!

661200 tn?1225486613 I have just returned from the vet and fund out this morning that my 12 year old Golden Retriever-Lab called Topaz has an enlarged heart and Kidney stones. Because of the heart condition the vet doesnt want to put him under general anesthesia for kidney stone surgery. I live in New Delhi and the resources are limited. However, I am doing the best I can and praying for a healthy and happy dog.

Avatar n tn I have an 8 month old golden retriever and have just noticed a lump on the back of his meck - just above where his back starts. Th lump is about the size of a gold ball. Could this be the identity chip we had put in or something sinister?
Avatar f tn My dog is going through similar at the moment. Good vet care is crucial though. We're doing IV fluids since he hasn't been eating much and some previous antibiotics really messed with his stomach and appetite. It's good to get them to eat anything if they're not eating. Today he ate some canned chicken, peanut butter, and cucumber slices. We also gave him some of a supplement called Enercal and another called Viyo. We just need to get him over this hump. I wish you the best.
Avatar n tn I have a male golden retriever, he is 11 years old and I'm extremely worried. My dog hasn't been eating properly for the past few weeks, he refuses to eat his normal food so we've been cooking him rice/eggs/meat/liver etc. Then after a while he doesn't eat himself unless we feed him by hands..and now he doesn't eat at all. Though he does eat some type of snacks. Now, he doesn't seem to have the energy to get up. He would try to get up but his legs seems to be weak or something.
Avatar f tn The vet thought a sudden death in our 8 year old might be hemangiosarcoma of the spleen or heart. Necroscopy found it was exactly that in her heart. This was a cancer of the blood vessels, and nothing could have been done. Sudden loss is so very hard.
Avatar m tn My Golden Retriever is on pheno for about a month now. She had 4 seizures in a row. She had to stay in emergency hospital for 12 hrs. First week after pheno she couldn't walk properly, was sleepy, thirsty, hungry... Now, she is almost back to herself, exept she likes now to go to the backyard and just stays there. Have anyone had that kind an experience with theire dog? She wouldn't go outsde without us, now-no problem. Hmm..
203342 tn?1328740807 We just discovered that our 11 year old golden retriever has cushings disease. She is now drinking lots, still eating good, is having accidents at night, sleeps on a cool floor, snores loudly, coughs once in a while, a dry cough, barking alot more even at all the family, has had trouble getting up the stairs, we have found a few lumps. We can not afford the medicine and really don't want her to suffer, which at this time, she does not appear to be, is there anything else we can be doing?
