1428227 tn?1283012106 Unusual idea but very interesting. You should check out the Music Lovers Group here (and maybe restart the "what type of music is good for our spirit?" thread). Who knows, someone may already be working on such a project. You can find the group at this link: http://www.medhelp.

Avatar n tn She has only been on insulin and low carb diet for a coupe weeks but her blood glucose levels have been consistently good. I know this may change, and several people (mostly Type 11 patients) have told me giving her Vitamin B12 and chromium would help. My question s are has anyone here tried those supplements or others? How did your physician feel about it? and are nutraceutical supplements safe for a child as young as mine?
Avatar m tn You would definitely want to ask your doctor that question. I saw an article in a medical magazine in a hospital waiting room that said that the sperm are a bigger factor in health of a baby than previously realized. Smoking, drinking, poor sleep, poor diet, high stress, and toxins all take a toll on sperm, weakening them. I think it's a great question and worth researching.
7650155 tn?1414371335 This past week I've decided to get serious about my health. I'm 29 years old, 5 feet 7.5 inches tall and about 150 pounds. I've always been active but am focusing on leaning up and building muscle . My diet consists of: Breakfast: 5 egg whites & one yoke fried with olive oil. Half a grapefruit & a half a cup of quinoa with one tablespoon of chia seeds, agave & cinnamon. Lunch & dinner: varies between chicken, fish or ground Turkey. And a side of veggies.
Avatar f tn and go for walks for about 60 mins and then pump weights that will develop your muscl tone as well but if you have purposely stayed a size zero then i suggest you start eating food take aways and fruit and vege and carb and read meat eat the skin on the chicken
Avatar m tn For fast weight gain, try protein shakes and specialty foods geared towards bodybuilders in the 'bulking' phase, as well as refined carb-heavy foods like pasta and bread, and high fat snacks like cheese and preserved meats. I also highly reccomend peanut butter. Add three teaspoons of peanut butter a day to your diet and you'll be heavier in a flash.
Avatar n tn I have a 5 year old son who had a birthday a month ago. He has a chromosome defficieny called digeorge syndrome. He is 30 pounds. Doesn't gain very well and is very picky. I pack his preschool lunch only 1 time in the last 2 months it came home completely empty. I don't pack him very much. protein, crunchy snack, fruit, carb(macaroni-pasta-) He may eat some of the macoroni but not all. It's an effort to get him to eat breakfast these days.

Avatar n tn I do eat low carb. However, if you use insulin you need to be, aware that some carb foods digest more quickly than others, which may affect insulin dosing.
Tbd Carbs from whole grains and/or carbs with fiber will help you maintain more stable blood sugar. Here is some information on better carbs for diabetes. http://www.medhelp.org/diabetes/articles/Know-Your-Carbs/2288 http://www.medhelp.org/diabetes/articles/Natures-Blood-Sugar-Secret/1822 You can find these articles in the Eat Right section of the Sugar Sense app; tap the bar menu in the upper lefthand corner and scroll down to find the Health Guide.
Avatar f tn I just wanted to comment to any fellow candy cane lovers out there. The small candy canes are only 15 calories. I am going to put four candy canes in my purse, and four on the end table near where I sit on the couch, every morning. Only 120 calories! Christmas candy is such a weakness for me.
11634465 tn?1421827735 Adopting a low carb, moderate protein and high fats (from natural sources) diet will help you control blood sugar and satisfy your hunger. Eliminate grains and starchy stuff, like pasta, bread, rice, potatoes, beans, and eliminate sugars. Eat non starchy veg frequently, while limiting fruits to occasional treats. Don't be shy with good fats (avocado, grass fed butter, olive oil, nuts, etc), and stay away from fake fats like margarine.
405614 tn?1329144114 I found a great article in AARP magazine (my roommate gets it) about mistakes doctors make, why they make them, and how to help yourself avoid these mistakes. All of us in limboland should be able to relate, and feel a little good that there is such an article in a national magazine. I hope you'll take the time to read it, and enjoy it as much as I did! http://www.aarpmagazine.org/health/why_doctors_make_mistakes.
Avatar m tn I was excited to see this in the recent edition of 'CURE' magazine I received today. It looks like they have already donated over 2 million to finding a cure. Very impressive since it's not one of those 'popular' cancers that get all the funding! http://www.callawaygolf.com/Global/en-US/Corporate/CallawayGolfFoundationWomensCancerInitiative.
988694 tn?1332359479 Unless a person’s endocrine system is severely damaged, he or she should be able to transition to a low-carb diet over a period of a few months without any adverse health reactions and see weight loss and health improvements as the body adjusts.
Avatar f tn 2 in the Annals of Internal Medicine shows the low carb high fat diet excels for weight loss and heart health. The low fat diet saw more lean muscle lost than body fat. Good tip: avoid low fat everything. :) "People who avoid carbohydrates and eat more fat, even saturated fat, lose more body fat and have fewer cardiovascular risks than people who follow the low-fat diet that health authorities have favored for decades, a major new study shows.
Avatar f tn I have yet to hear from New Nordic or any of the many suppliers of New Nordic Mulberry Zuccarin that I emailed asking for test results and/or research documents stating that the mulberry leaf does low glucose levels in humans. What I did find in my investigation was the mulberry leaf was originally grown and harvested to feed silkworms. These claims of Japanese drinking mulberry tea for 700 years is ridiculous. Japanese written history only dates back 300 years.
Avatar f tn Has anyone read the article in last month's issue of FIRST magazine about chronic sinus inflamation? They are suggesting to put a capsaicin extract in your nasal rinse for better results - I am wondering if anyone has tried it? I am going to take the article to my Allergist this week and see what he says. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn I've been doing low carb for 3 weeks and I am down 14lbs. I fell off the wagon last week, had an awful stomach bug and just couldn't bear what I would normally have, as soon as I felt well enough I jumped right back on it. Just looking for some motivation, inspiration or even just a natter.
874521 tn?1424116797 MEOWY Christmass and happy MEW year????? I love It!. So witty. ....and the same to you and all the moms, dads, and kits out there in this forum family.
Tbd Hi, a1c of 6.3 means an average blood sugar of around 140. This is too high. Ideally hab1c should be < 5.0. What to do: 1. Low carb diet (if your body can't handle carbs, then you need to reduce them sticking to mainly non-starchy veges as carb source. Lots of good online info for dietary management - ketogenic / low carb/ modified atkins etc). 2. Daily exercise (including aerobic / weights) 3. Lose weight if overweight.
Tbd Hi, depending how long you have had diabetes, and your overall condition, losing weight and changing your diet to a strict low carb diet / keto diet, could possibly put your diabetes into remission or at worst make it very much easier to manage. The principle of low carb diet is restricting carbs, particularly all grains, sugars, starchy veges and sweet fruits, and eating a diet that focusses more on protein, low carb plant foods (veges and non-sweet fruits), some nuts, and healthy fats.
