Common Questions and Answers about Health insurance self employed

insurance

Avatar f tn I think your best option is to plan ahead for the decrease in salary. Can you change your living situation temporarily and/or contact any creditors to suspend payments in order to adjust your monthly expense load for the short term? Have you purchased any short term disability insurance since you've been self employed? That might cover you. Unfortunately contracted employees generally make a really decent salary with zero benefits. I'd also look carefully at healthcare.
Avatar f tn I was interested in seeing how many of us have health insurance vs no health insurance.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have individual health insurance (not with an employer) that covers ANY part of infertility? I mean meds, IUI or IVF. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Hi ladys! So my question is how many of you are self employed and if you are how far along were you when it started to get to uncomfortable for you to work to where you started to take ur time off until after your baby is born? Also how long do you plan on taking off? I am a FTM, self employed nail tech. I am 35wk+1 and it is starting to get really uncomfortable for me to sit for longer then a hr when I am working on a client.
798555 tn?1292787551 Whatever it was that required a certain size company (people or revenue?) to offer health insurance to its employees is apparently no longer in effect. I just got word of someone who now suddenly has no insurance (and a family that needs it) because of this. This person is full time employed (not contract work) for a huge US based company. No this is not thyroid, but might effect some people here. Any one knows more about this feel free to post, all the more info the better.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if your boyfriend is self employed are they entitled to any paid leave ?
Avatar f tn I followed the link and read the article because I have a friend that needs a heart operation and has no insurance. She's self employed and works hard for not enough money but has diabetes and now this heart thing. I was so disappointed in how the article explains the law. A person must have a denial letter from an insurance company dated within the last six months in order to qualify for this program. She hasn't applied in years because of the diabetes.
Avatar m tn I AM A SELF EMPLOYED MALE AGE 45 DIAGNOSED APPROX.
Avatar n tn I'm self employed and without medical insurance. My nurse set up my tx through Pegassist (Genentech 888-941-3331) no charge for meds but responsible for lab and dr. appts. If you haven't had your biopsy yet contact the hospital and look into any financial assistance they might have to offer. I was unaware of this before my bx but they put me on a 5 yr. payment plan. Yes, cost of treatment is expensive - but I feel cost of not doing treatment is too high.
598683 tn?1219528098 I seek help but have no health insurance. I stand at 5'10in. Short brown/black hair. I am 105 pounds. (underweight for no apparent reason) I frequently get sick and have little to no energy. constant head pressure- uncontrollable jolting-always out of breath-and I suffer depression. I feel like my body is twice it's age...and I just want to feel better again. I am desprate for help and answers. I have a very little drive do anything now...I just want to feel better.
Avatar n tn My new employer offers group insurance and as I had no lapse in coverage, and I had to prove that to the insurance company, they had to honor my policy and cover all of my testing and procedures. If you are self employed or are covered under a private insurance policy, they can do pretty much whatever they want, even cancel your coverage, or so I was told by an Attorney who is also an Oncologist. Laws really need to be made to stop that from happening.
Avatar f tn husband is self employed, so no insurance and we make too much to qualify for medicare...luckily where i go set up a payment plan foe us, with a 50% discount because we re uninsured. Really hoping i can deliver at my birth center tho instead of hospital, cause those bills will not be fun lol...fingers crossed it all works out for you, babies arent cheap!
497580 tn?1209789690 00, in the USA my gastro said I could not get any help because we are self employed own our house and have health ins. If I would have qualified for welfare everything would have been covered by the government.
Avatar f tn I haven't slept in so many years but what's worst is all my self employed friends don't sleep either. So while the rest of the world is fast asleep that's when we come alive! I have now re-scheduled my life around not sleeping such as super market shopping any where between 2am-5am; making deposits at atm machines during those hours and always being able to finish my work because I have learned that is the best time to get my work done w/o interruptions.
Avatar n tn I have a feeling, and this is just a feeling that they DO analize everything but behind the scenes. They will do different things for you next time to make it even better. My first failed as well, I am in my second attempt right now and we changed 2 things. This time I am going to take more Gonal F to produce more follicles and we are going to use fresh and frozen sperm instead of just frozen. We ended up purchasing additional insurance for me as my hubbys insurance didn't cover IVF.
320078 tn?1278344720 The situation with how much you get paid during your disability and whether you get your health insurance paid will probably depend on your employers disability insurance policy and the arrangement with the medical insurance company. You may have to pay your own medical premiums. You have to talk to your HR department to figure this out as it will probably vary from company to company. If you live in California, you have 16 weeks job protection under FMLA.
1063764 tn?1272821064 I'm a 23 year old female without medical insurance. I need to see two different specialists, one of them a few times a year. But because I don't have insurance I can't afford to anymore. I have not been able to find an individual health care plan for myself that I can afford. I currently don't have a job, but as soon as I am employed medical insurance is one of the things I'll be getting. Can anyone guide me in a direction so I can find some health care plans that suit me?
Avatar n tn I live in Idaho and I am self employed. I had insurance until a year ago. It got to the point where I could not afford it, and the deductible was $7,000. I have looked around & it is so expensive or I was denied coverage. But, I will keep looking.
693413 tn?1233732272 UPS will pay for health insurance if you work for them for 4 hours per day/ five days a week. Shifts are late afternoon and evening.
Avatar m tn Another risk to consider is not having health insurance if you become ill in these last 7 weeks of treatment or if you need hospitalization or a transfusion. Hopefully that wouldn't happen, but that could be financially devastating as well. Is it possible for you to take out some type of individual health insurance, say through Blue Cross or Premera or something? I don't know if that would be less costly than COBRA? Would you be eligible for Medicaid or SSD?
Avatar n tn I am 28 years male from India . I was a body builder.I had really bad acne problem on my face and back, tried everything but nothing worked except this tablet cynomiycin. I have been taking cynomycin 50 mg two times a day since 10 years and may have stoped it for a while on and off. I heard from a friend that it may have had adverse effects on my body because i have been taking it for such a long time. he said i should get my body checked up. I am really scared.
148588 tn?1465778809 “Having access to health insurance is absolutely critical to self-employed individuals like me who no longer wish to be chained to a specific employer.” And one 35-year-old Austin, Texas, man tells NBC News he plans use Obamacare to leave his “not exactly fulfilling” corporate job to become an independent consultant for a favorite food product.
3197167 tn?1348968606 Hey all, I am a recovering opiate addict.....I have a very dear loved one that is very close to being ready to detox from alcohol. He is self-employed and has NO insurance. He isn't open to a 30-45 day inpatient facility, but I told him I thought there were 5-7 day detox facilities that were medically supervised.....but are there? And are there any out there that will take someone with no insurance? This would be applicable in the State of Kansas.
Avatar f tn I do not have much money at all, I am self-employed and I do not have any health insurance. I just spent most of everything I had on a new condo and I was not expecting this sudden deterioration in health.
961762 tn?1265229711 Hi there-- Very good question. My neuros have actually told me this: "keep your insurance, both life & health. Once you're diagnosed with MS, you are uninsurable." That's an actual quote. While some states have better protections re health insurance, and some states have "catastrophic" plans you might be able to buy (at a huge price), I think MS is pretty much a deal-breaker for insurance companies.
