Avatar f tn Look into the healthcare.gov plans now. The theory when one is a contractor is that one pays for one's own insurance, I know that a lot of self-employed people do not, but that is the concept. So get to the state and find out what the healthcare plan is, since you have to cover not just you but also your baby.

I don't plan on resturning to work till the start of May.

Avatar f tn Self employed, or not he's not entitled to benefits unless he signs up for it via some sort of insurance agency he has for his company. Same with women who go on FMLA leave, they don't get paid just for being on leave unless they have signed up and paid for short term or long term disability insurance benefits. Otherwise, ur on ur own when ur not working.
Avatar f tn And I am self-employed. So far it has covered diagnostics. That is blood work, ultrasounds for an IUI, but ONLY at my Ob/Gyn. My IUI's cost me $300 out of pocket, but did not cover injectable meds. They cover only the consultation for my RE. My IVF is completely self pay and I have not found one single ins. company in my state that covers IVF for individuals.
3197167 tn?1348968606 Hey all, I am a recovering opiate addict.....I have a very dear loved one that is very close to being ready to detox from alcohol. He is self-employed and has NO insurance. He isn't open to a 30-45 day inpatient facility, but I told him I thought there were 5-7 day detox facilities that were medically supervised.....but are there? And are there any out there that will take someone with no insurance? This would be applicable in the State of Kansas.

Avatar f tn I haven't slept in so many years but what's worst is all my self employed friends don't sleep either. So while the rest of the world is fast asleep that's when we come alive! I have now re-scheduled my life around not sleeping such as super market shopping any where between 2am-5am; making deposits at atm machines during those hours and always being able to finish my work because I have learned that is the best time to get my work done w/o interruptions.
Avatar n tn I have a feeling, and this is just a feeling that they DO analize everything but behind the scenes. They will do different things for you next time to make it even better. My first failed as well, I am in my second attempt right now and we changed 2 things. This time I am going to take more Gonal F to produce more follicles and we are going to use fresh and frozen sperm instead of just frozen. We ended up purchasing additional insurance for me as my hubbys insurance didn't cover IVF.
Avatar n tn I live in Idaho and I am self employed. I had insurance until a year ago. It got to the point where I could not afford it, and the deductible was $7,000. I have looked around & it is so expensive or I was denied coverage. But, I will keep looking.
Avatar f tn m self employed, and they say we overqualify for the Remicade offered for uninsurable familys. My wife (46 yrs.old) has had this for the past 6 years and has had both knees replaced and it's now working on her ankles and wrists. Without the Remicade infusions I'm afraid that this will get worse and do serious damage to her other joints. Any suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I'm self employed and without medical insurance. My nurse set up my tx through Pegassist (Genentech 888-941-3331) no charge for meds but responsible for lab and dr. appts. If you haven't had your biopsy yet contact the hospital and look into any financial assistance they might have to offer. I was unaware of this before my bx but they put me on a 5 yr. payment plan. Yes, cost of treatment is expensive - but I feel cost of not doing treatment is too high.
320078 tn?1278344720 m now paying the full amount of my health insurance on 67% of my normal income...(Comes to $1100/mo without vision and dental). That's an entire paycheck...I got this cr*p from a dirty needle stick at work, and am now making those decisions of...Food VS family health insurance...I hadn't anticipated being away from work the entire time of txing, and now I'm too anemic to pick up 300lb people multiple times a day, not to mention ward off MRSA or anything else that gets coughed on me.
524725 tn?1212367448 In Texas, we look through a viewer for the eye test. I have little vision in one eye. I passed, because that side of the screen was burned out. LOL But you could also cover the weak eye. I do not know why you would not pass. It is a vision test, not an eye exam. Many people with one good eye pass the test and have licenses. There is another side to this. I do not feel capable of driving. But I have a recent loss.
Avatar f tn About 8 months ago, I picked up an additional job, making my total working hours about 100/week. I had a lack of sleep to say the least, so when I started getting headaches, my vision started getting a little blurry, and for the first time ever (at 20yrs) I suddenly had excessive acne, and was constantly tired, I assumed it was my work load. 5 months ago I cut myself down to 35 hours, and have thought my body was just making up for the lost sleep by ALWAYS being tired now.
Avatar m tn I AM A SELF EMPLOYED MALE AGE 45 DIAGNOSED APPROX.
497580 tn?1209789690 00, in the USA my gastro said I could not get any help because we are self employed own our house and have health ins. If I would have qualified for welfare everything would have been covered by the government.
Avatar n tn I was told the cost for a 48 wk treatment of peginterferon/ribaviron (pegasys and copegus) was around $30,000. I am a self employed single wage earner with no medical insurance. I spoke with my Dr. and because of my income they helped me apply to Pegassist through Genentech. I get all my meds at no charge but I am responsible for the cost of all lab work through the 11 months and dr. office calls.
Avatar n tn Hello everyone, I'm a 41 year old non-smoker and a 1 cm lung nodule was discovered after I had an MRI on my neck for a car accident. I've been reading through the subpleural nodule posts and it appears that none have turned out to be malignant. I'm seriously wondering if follow-up testing is even necessary for me. I have yet to see any that have actually been cancerous. Thoughts?
Avatar m tn Since this would be self-funded (not through medical insurance), would like to get a ball-part estimate for a cardiac EP study and the RF ablation process. Now, do realize that the cost of treatment can vary a lot depending on the location, complexity & duration of the process, etc. Neverthless, it would be most helpful to financially plan this if I could get some guidance on the range (eg.
542335 tn?1215050679 Hello, I have been diagnosed with retinal detachment in both eyes. My right eye is significantly worse however and my peripheral vision is pretty much gone. One retinal specialist I saw said that I am 95% detached in my right eye. I went to another specialist yesterday and they want me to have surgery sometime this week. The first specialist I went to suggested scleral buckling and the second one suggested vitrectomy.
Avatar f tn At first black floaters, then flashing lights. I ignored these for two weeks. Then a black veil appeared in my vision and I could no longer see anything but black in the affected eye. I went the next morning to a vitreo-retinal specialist. He said I had a detached retina. He tried to reattach it with laser, then gas bubble, a few days later, I had to have a buckle and vitrectomy with silicone to keep it attached.
Avatar f tn It is a disgrace how doctors and clinics treat self paying patients. You can negotiate if you know exactly what medicare compensates them for certain procedures. I discovered that they receive less than half what they charge from medicare. Find a clinic that specializes in medicare and high volume cataract surgeries since they have stream lined their practice to live within those guidelines and they still make a fair profit. If you wait for Obama care you're screwed.
