645800 tn?1466860955 After explaining everything that was going on with my index finger and all of my other MS symptoms she came to the conclusion that the pain is probably a combination of a nerve being pinched when I move a certain way, arthritis, and that I use my cane in my right hand that is adding stress to the finger. So again I have homework in the way of an exercise (called Radial Nerve Glide) to see if that will get things back to the way the should be.
Avatar m tn The skin on my hands is pulling away from my fingernails and no matter how much lotion I put on them, they look and feel so dry that when I straighten my fingers, I can feel the skin pulling on my index finger. It occurred to me yesterday that with the obvious swellings on my finger joints, the skin probably IS too tight! I'm 56, in good shape, athletic, but do have chronic Hepatitis C, which is where I usually post.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know based on my post, if this is infact arthritis and if it is arthritis, what kind of arthritis do you think it is ? I will tell you that my mom has arthritis in her fingers too. She's in her early eighties. I don't know if arthritis can be inherited ? If it is arthritis, what sorts of things can one do to relieve the pain ? Any suggestions about possible pain medicaiton whether over the counter or possibly homeopathic would be gladly received.
Avatar n tn About 14 months ago one of my fingers was hyper extended when I tried to catch a softball and my ring finger was bent very far back. My finger healed for the most part, I have a full range of motion and no pain at all except when I press hard on the finger. None of my other fingers hurt when I press on them and this one only hurts when I press hard on it but it does hurt quite a bit when I press on it. Yesterday I asked the doctor about this and he prescribed Naproxen.
Avatar f tn ve noticed that when I wake up in the morning, my thumb is totally numb. This morning my index and middle finger were also tingly along with my thumb being numb. I had horrible pain in my bottom knuckle on my thumb, and now the knuckles in my middle and ring finger are hurting. I'm sorry for such a long post, but I'm really hoping someone might have some advice. I'm a single mother and I don't have insurance so I can't afford to go to a doctor.
Avatar n tn I had a finger prick blood test done recently. The technician had soiled gloves and I was concerned that this may have been blood on his gloves. I was so nervous about the procedure that I did not think to ask him to change his gloves. With these soiled gloves he touched the area of my finger where he placed the lancet to draw a drop of my blood. No alcohol prep pad was used at this juncture.
Avatar m tn I am 33, never had a memorable injury to this finger, and no other finger or body joints are a problem. I am going to schedule an appointment with a Rheumatologist today, as I have the feeling the Ortho will let me down tomorrow. Does this sound like arthritis? Could this be something like reactive arthritis, despite having no other real substantial symptoms(like UTI or eye problems)? Any help is appreciated.
Avatar n tn Sounds like this might be "trigger finger". Does the finger stay down when you open your hand?? There is a simple procedure to repair trigger finger. With just a local shot the doctor cuts a tiny slit in the crease of your palm, then cuts the tube that holds the tendon and releases it. Two stiches later you are good to go. It will take about 6 months for the tenderness to go away. Mine is still a bit stiff but at lease I have full use of it.

Avatar f tn s finger. It is not possible, regardless of whether she had any cuts on her finger or not. A finger will never be able to transmit the virus. You had no risk and do NOT need HIV testing because you were not exposed to HIV. Your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV because you were not exposed to the HIV virus.
Avatar f tn Arthritis?? Have skiers thumb for about a month. Woke up in morning and index finger on my dominant right hand was swollen and painful when bending. Avatar n tn Almost all my finger tips especially on the right hand and the index finger are very dry, rough, and cracky. Then when when the are wet they get wrinkly. I have been applying petroleum jelly, covered with cotton liner and latex gloves for a few days but I don't see any big improvement. I have AmLactin moisturizing lotion, would that be better to use and how should I use it to make it work? Thank you for your help. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
1853014 tn?1340038575 But once I washed the dishes, or gardened, or did chores, without gloves on, those painful cracks on my finger-tips came back, during Treatment. Oh, by the way: I'm happy to report that the finger-tip cracks went away, the very same week I ended my treatment. Hang in there, Debbie, this too will end.
Avatar m tn She put on the gloves first. She then pricked my finger with a little needle-tool, and squeezed my finger. After doing that she took out a little stick from a box, and put it on my finger to get the blood. But at that time, another doctor came in and talked to her for a little while. After that, she somehow noticed that the blood on the stick is not enough or she forgot that she had already got my blood on the stick, she squeezed my finger again and swiped the stick again on my finger.
Avatar n tn My mind is asking what ifs like what if the guy who used the tongs before (he used them about one-two minutes before me) me bled on them and I held the tongs with my hand and that blood was on my gloves but then when i cut my finger some of that blood got in. Is this crazy? Does this warrant me worrying about it or testing for hiv?
Avatar m tn I went to the dormatolagist today to remove a pice of glass that was stock on my finger . He touched my finger with his bare hands without gloves! If his previous patient or him had hiv would I get it?
Avatar m tn //www.healthline.com/health/trigger-finger Rheumatoid Arthritis can also cause these symptoms as you know. https://www.assh.org/handcare/condition/rheumatoid-arthritis See your doctor. They will examine your hands. Then take X rays and if they suspect RA, do blood work to confirm. It's treatable. So either way, you should see your doctor. Do Nsaids help at all?
Avatar m tn 15 min after the incidene,i disposed the gloves and washed my hand with soap.after washing i noticed a 1 cm cut on my finger(palmar surface)which was pain very very slightly. On careful examination i found it was broken skin on my index finger ,the cut ends were seperable but it was not bleeding nor i noticed any scab.it was my first experience so i was not careful while doing the practicals.i dont know whether there was blood on my finger or not before washing.
Avatar m tn I understand exactly what you are saying. No there is no worry here about infection. Often the blood drawing person will pre-clean their finger before drawing blood because they need to feel where the vein is. This is actually common practice. You don't have any fever do you? If not I wouldn't worry about it at all. I used to draw blood and you have to feel the vein before drawing the blood.
Avatar f tn the lab tech had poked herself with the edge of the syringe wrapping and IF it caused her to bleed, these people are professionals, trained exhaustively in matters of patient safety protocol, she would have removed her gloves, washed her hands and put on new gloves.
Avatar n tn So I just helped someone who was gushing blood out of her finger, while wearing plastic gloves. When taking the gloves off, I noticed there was a small drop of blood on the underside of my middle finger on my hand. There wasn't any opened cuts on the underside of my hand, but I have a paper cut on the top of my hand on my ring finger. After 5 mins of finishing helping her, I used purell and washed my hands. I don't know her status. Is there any risk for infection? Should I be worried?
Avatar f tn The phlebotomist didnt put gloves on left hands. She put gloves on her right hand. She took blood and then placed a cotton with left hand which had no gloves. After the procedure done she removed other gloves and put my blood on table. Then she removed the cotton and put fresh cotton with tape attached. Before that she couldn't see the injection spot and she touched without gloves to find it. Then put cotton over the spot. I dont know whether she had any cuts or blood on her left hand.

Avatar n tn N with gloves But the index finger wad cut out one of the gloves so she could properly feel my vein with the skin on skin contact. I don't know if this woman had cut her finger previously or washed her hands or anything. Anything could have been on her finger. Is it possible that anyone could catch HIV given the situation i just put forth given the fact she could have had an open wound or recent cut. She does draw blood so she could have touched someone elses blood on accident.
