Sounds like this might be "trigger finger". Does the finger stay down when you open your hand?? There is a simple procedure to repair trigger finger. With just a local shot the doctor cuts a tiny slit in the crease of your palm, then cuts the tube that holds the tendon and releases it. Two stiches later you are good to go. It will take about 6 months for the tenderness to go away. Mine is still a bit stiff but at lease I have full use of it.

Arthritis?? Have skiers thumb for about a month. Woke up in morning and index finger on my dominant right hand was swollen and painful when bending. I was sent for a bone scan and arthritis was found in all of those joints. I also was testing positive for active mono (not sick at all) and syphillis, but the actual STD test was negative. If he shrugs it off again like last time, I will ask for a referral to a rheumatologist, either from him or my primary if he is reluctant. I absolutely use that finger alot in my work.I work in publishing, and I routinely pick up fairly heavy atlases with most of the bearing down sideways on the finger.

I have been having these blisters appearing only in the mornings and between my finger for the last 4 months. My hands nearly drive me nuts. I have changed soaps, lotions, shampoo, conditioner, dish soap and everything there is to change.
