Avatar m tn I have developed rheumatoid in 1 finger from TX. You have no redness, swelling, heat or pain, just stiffness?
Avatar m tn I am 33, never had a memorable injury to this finger, and no other finger or body joints are a problem. I am going to schedule an appointment with a Rheumatologist today, as I have the feeling the Ortho will let me down tomorrow. Does this sound like arthritis? Could this be something like reactive arthritis, despite having no other real substantial symptoms(like UTI or eye problems)? Any help is appreciated.
Avatar n tn Sounds like this might be "trigger finger". Does the finger stay down when you open your hand?? There is a simple procedure to repair trigger finger. With just a local shot the doctor cuts a tiny slit in the crease of your palm, then cuts the tube that holds the tendon and releases it. Two stiches later you are good to go. It will take about 6 months for the tenderness to go away. Mine is still a bit stiff but at lease I have full use of it.

Avatar n tn If I knock on a door (normally, not hard) it feels like I just punched a cement wall. Both my ring finger knuckles have swelled to where I can not get my rings over them. It started aboutub 6 months ago and just progressively gets worse, I just noticed it happeneing in my right hand about 2 weeks ago. Any ideas what this could be?
Avatar n tn Thank you for the thorough response. I see the therapist again tomorrow, and if it is still the same, I am going to ask to see the orthopedist again. If he shrugs it off again like last time, I will ask for a referral to a rheumatologist, either from him or my primary if he is reluctant. I absolutely use that finger alot in my work.I work in publishing, and I routinely pick up fairly heavy atlases with most of the bearing down sideways on the finger.
Avatar f tn This is associated with catching, snapping or locking of the involved finger flexor tendon, resulting in inability to move the finger and pain. The diagnostic thing is that you can unlock the lock and start the finger functioning again. Treatment is by injecting steroid into the tendon. If that fails, this can be surgically corrected. Other than that it can be arthritis too. Please consult an orthopedic specialist. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Arthritis?? Have skiers thumb for about a month. Woke up in morning and index finger on my dominant right hand was swollen and painful when bending. Does arthritis have flare ups or is this permanent..I have a history of psorasis and was wondering if it could be psoriatic arthritis?? Should I keep it exercise or immobilized??
Avatar m tn //www.healthline.com/health/trigger-finger Rheumatoid Arthritis can also cause these symptoms as you know. https://www.assh.org/handcare/condition/rheumatoid-arthritis See your doctor. They will examine your hands. Then take X rays and if they suspect RA, do blood work to confirm. It's treatable. So either way, you should see your doctor. Do Nsaids help at all?

Avatar n tn Hi there- have had a swollen finger for about four days- no injury. been taking mobic and tylenol arthritis . not much improvement. went to dr. today and he prescribed me prednisione. but my bp was high and that was kind of upsetting. can an arthritic flare, if thats what it is, make your bp jump? thanks.
Avatar n tn When there is a capsular injury to a joint in finger, it is best to give the RICE treatment for a few days such as rest, ice application, compression bandage (you can strap the injured finger with the neighboring finger) and elevation (keep hands elevated on a pillow at bed time). You can also take an anti-inflammatory pain killer. Once the injury settles down and there is less pain you have to start physiotherapy.
Avatar f tn ve noticed that when I wake up in the morning, my thumb is totally numb. This morning my index and middle finger were also tingly along with my thumb being numb. I had horrible pain in my bottom knuckle on my thumb, and now the knuckles in my middle and ring finger are hurting. I'm sorry for such a long post, but I'm really hoping someone might have some advice. I'm a single mother and I don't have insurance so I can't afford to go to a doctor.
Avatar m tn ve been having muscular pain in my left hand, mainly the thumb and index finger, which radiates down the inside of the forearm but not all the way to the elbow. I still have full mobility and sensation and can still grip stuff, there is no numbness or tingling. It has persisted for over a week now, and seems to come and go, and feel better at some times than others. I do get the odd day where my left elbow and knee feels really stiff and sore but still has full mobility.
Avatar m tn If it’s not treated, a finger pulp infection can cause a number of complications like spreading of the infection to the bone of the finger causing osteomyelitis, skin necrosis, septic arthritis and tenosynovitis (when the infection spreads to the sheath that surrounds the tendons in your finger). Hence my sincere suggestion would be to get it evaluated from a specialist and get the above mentioned treatment. Hope that this information helps and hope that your sister will get better soon.

2136167 tn?1374728651 Your symptoms sure sound like rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune disorder that causes arthritis among other health problems. Interferon (a chemotherapy drug prescribed with ribavirin and/or other drugs) is used to treat chronic hepatitis C infection. Interferon STIMULATES the immune system and it's not uncommon that patients with auto-immune disorders will experience a worsening of their autoimmune disease symptoms while on interferon therapy.
Avatar n tn //www.webmd.com/rheumatoid-arthritis/guide/trigger-finger#1. Is your hand in a splint? Have you elevated your hand above your head to help with immflamation and swelling that may be causing this sensation of numbness? You could be perhaps having a complication post surgery. Your best source of information on this is your doctor and I recommend calling them about it. This is not to mean you are but that you should inquire. Physical therapy may be available to help in the near future.
Avatar f tn last time i was on treatment, I had what felt like arthritis, but when I finished treatment it went away. it was the meds.
