620877 tn?1282764097 I know that some of you may take ibuprofen when taking a DMD to help with the flu like side effects - but what I am wondering is for those who are undiagnosed or not taking a DMD - can ibuprofen help with symptoms? I stay away from ibuprofen because of my acid reflux - but have taken it a few times when tylenol just doesn't seem to help my headaches. I have noticed that the ibuprofen helps.
Avatar m tn Antidepressants can also help and can be used in conjunction with gabapentin (or other epileptic drugs) Ask your doctor. Physiotherapy can also help free trapped nerves depending on where and how thay are trapped and of course anti-inflamitaries (ibuprofen) if the pinch is due to inflamation at all. Totally agree with helpforsherry, surgery is the last option.
Avatar f tn I was put on Gabapentin and ibuprofen but was NEVER told this was the assessment. Been in chronic pain for 5 years now, after a hysterectomy. What is the best treatment. Am on 2400mg Gabapentin and 60mg of Cymbalta, but don't really want to have to take this for life.
Avatar f tn knowing what type you have is important. You can't make educated decisions as to what precautions to take until you know who has what. if they didn't type your culture as to hsv1 or hsv2 ( which is against cdc practice guidelines and wrong of your provider not to do - they are setting themselves up for malpractice suits by not following those guidelines as well as doing their patients a big disservice ), you'll need to follow up with more testing.
Avatar n tn There are some pains, like headache and muscle aches that go along with the fibro that will only respond to the ibuprofen. Any type of ibuprofen works well for me, even the generic types that are sold by stores like WalMart.
Avatar n tn I am allergic to Aspirin, Morphine, Codeine, Hydrocodone, Tramadol and Ibuprofen. After my last back surgery they put me on Gabapentin several times a day. Now I just take it at night to help take the edge off so I can sleep. Now I have to have a shoulder replacement in 2 weeks and they want me to see a pain management specialist because they don't know what to give me when I come home. I told them to just up the Gabapentin to several times a day. But they don't want to do that.
16785591 tn?1451596681 I actually slept about 5 hours without waking went back to sleep and slept another three. I took an ibuprofen pm along with the Neurontin. the next tonight I took just the Neurontin. the effect was not as good. so I added the ibuprofen pm. I only slept for two hours before waking up. I did not have the severe hurt that made me go down stairs to my exercise machine. but I did have dry mouth. I have been on it I think now for one week and I'm really feeling discouraged.
Avatar f tn Had a TURP four years ago and urologist say prostate has not enlarged again but this is driving me to distraction. Have been given, prednisone, cipro, gabapentin, ibuprofen, pyridium. Nothing is working; well, it works for a little while but then it's like taking nothing. Feels like if I could ejaculate it would ease it but can't seem to do that. Now, however, the burning pain has moved down to the perineum.
Avatar m tn So your docs have diagnosed you with Lyme, and are treating you with gabapentin and also some other meds intravenously (IV) through the tube in your veins? What medications are they giving you through the IV? And are you taking any other meds?
Avatar n tn I take a very similar set of meds. I have suffered for years with chronic pain and my doctor added 25mg of Zipsor (anti-infam). It really makes a difference for me. When my pain gets really loud I take a Zipsor and it really takes the edge off. It has really helped me continue to work. My doc used to prescribe Toradol and it worked great, but because Toradol is so rough on the stomach they would only prescribe 3 days one time every 3 months. I am able to take Zipsor every day.
Avatar f tn I had a death in the family on Sunday. I do apologize. What milligram of the Gabapentin does your doctor have you on? Gabapentin is a little weaker than Lyrica, but is very similar. Let me know and maybe give you some ideas on what to discuss with your doctor during your next appointment. Thanks and again I am sorry about the delay.
Avatar f tn Almost forgot.....I also told the dr that i can't blow my nose and I still don't sleep well at night. He switched me from Gabapentin to Lyrica at 50mg per dose....take 1 at night before bed, 1 in the morning...building up to 3 times a day.
Avatar f tn I am thinking that too... I was recently diagnosed with Sciatica, but that usually is only in my hip and buttocks area. But maybe it is that ...
Avatar f tn Neurontin (gabapentin) can be an effective treatment for neuropathic pain, but would seem unlikely to have any effect on any other symptoms, such as gray patches, sharpness, or color saturation. As has been repeatedly discussed here, however, it's not something one just starts taking; it is an adjustment process. See the Health Page on treating neuropathic pain.

A couple of months ago is when he started to take the gabapentin and it did seem to start working little by little they faded till he actually went 5 days with no headache untill the neurologist told him to take indomethacin 25 mg 3 times a day them boom the headaches came back worse. He did stop the ibuprofens when taking this.

Avatar f tn Is it true you shouldn't take ibuprofen it can harm the baby? I just seen this today while doing research as to this is my first. i have been taking it before I found out I was thinking my period was coming and I've always had bad cramps so I know to start taking it before my period comes to help with the pain. Should I be worried that I've harmed the baby from taking it? I'm 5 weeks BTW.

513550 tn?1211484553 I was assaulted. And my upper arm humorous was totally broken. The top of my arm basically came fully off and im gonna have to get a shoulder replacement in the near future. Now i have the brake held together by screws and plates. I been taking 300 mg of Gabapentin and 30 mg of cymbalta and ibuprofen 800 mg. It doesn't seem to work very well with pain. Avatar m tn According to research institutes, Ibuprofen overdose damages your internal organs like liver. While in some cases it has been reported that it has result in a permanent liver damage, in other cases where the victim was taking the dose for a long and continued period it has resulted in organ failure one by one.
