Avatar f tn Now I wonder if my soupy proms were more due to a Vitamin. D deficiency than type 2 neuropathy.... Feel that if Gabapentin prevents absorption that this could be my real problem.... Depressed and completely confused on what to do..
Avatar f tn Hi Dr. Smita, Thank you for your response! Actually, I had all my blood test checked (calcium, magnesium, TSH,...etc) Everything came out normal except vitamin d is low. Could it be vitamin d deficiency and calcium still can be normal? I don't understand. My doctor prescribed me 50,000 IU vit. d once a week x 12 weeks and I'm taking Gapapentin 300mg at night from my neurologist for sleep. What he told me my twitching is benign and don't worry about it!
Avatar m tn Look for sublingual forms of vitamins and minerals to bypass your gut. Check out Vitamist which have a lot of sublingual products. Dr Mercola also sells vitamin D and vitamin B12 and melatonin in sublingual spray.

Avatar m tn Sometimes changing the drug you are taking gives better pain control. Also take vitamin B and vitamin D supplement for a short time. Also, physiotherapy should be tried. Nerve blocks, epidurals and spinal cord stimulators may help (but can be costly). Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.

500238 tn?1255131214 I can personally attest to symptoms of Vitamin D deficiency. I was recently tested after 6 months of pain and doctors looking at me like, "we don't know," until I found a qualified doctor who performed the proper tests. My levels are 11.8 ng/ml. I have seen sites that call this moderate and others that call it severe. The current recommendations refer to this as severe deficiency.
Avatar n tn Separately, due to a Vitamin D deficiency my doc found, he put me on 50,000 units Vitamin D per week for 8 weeks, followed by biweekly doses. And guess what...the Vitamin D almost instantly "cured" the BPH. I've seen that Vitamin D can affect the growth of prostate cells over the long term, but this worked as quickly (and about as well) as Flomax. (FYI: I'm diabetic and overweight, taking metformin, Byetta, lisinopril, HCTZ, gabapentin, lovastatin and Lantus).
Avatar n tn You need to also get serum calcium, vitamin D and parathyroid gland function assessed. Sometimes problems in calcium, phosphate and vitamin D can cause joint and bone pain and jolting pain. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.

Avatar n tn I've noticed quite a few people seem to share my symptoms of generalized anxiety and elevated heart rate and blood pressure. During times when I do not feel good, I can become labile and have a resting heart rate of around 100 to 120. I've bounced back and forth between cardiologists and psychiatrists, and unfortunately this doesn't seem to be a very well understood issue. This seems to be seasonal. During the summer months, I'm perfectly fine.
Avatar f tn we went back to the neurologist a couple of weeks ago and he told me to give him folic acid and vitamin D. Still given no reason for pain. My son is having trouble concentrating and sleeping. I don't know what else to do. I don't know how to give him hope that this may ever go away. Someone please help.

5143317 tn?1383747820 I had my vitamin d tested about 2 months ago and my level was 36ng/l with a range of 30-100. I've been having crazy hypothyroid like symptoms for months. Weight gain, inability to lose weight, depression, mood swings, inability to control my emotions, low sex drive, dry skin, not sleeping good, etc. Could the low end vitamin D be causing the symptoms? I've had cortisol, various hormones and all thyroid tests, everything is normal.
