neurontin

Avatar n tn There are other options that the anesthesiologist and pain management specialist can use post op. Shoulder replacement surgery recovery is painful and difficult, so the earlier you can make post surgery pain treatment planned the smoother your recovery period will be.
Avatar n tn I suggest that you discuss with your doctors regarding a possible pain specialist referral (these are mostly anesthesiologists that subspecializes in pain management) for a better pain management. I hope your pain can be managed adequately soon. Regards.
Avatar f tn Now to my question, I am in the process of being referred to a pain management doctor. Is they going to cause them to turn me down and not see me as a patient?
Avatar f tn It is best advised to discuss the situation and the suggested management plan in detail with your pain management specialist. If required you may seek a second opinion with another doctor. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn oms-gabapentin 300 mg was prescibed to my mom for nerve pain and its a seizure medication? Any explinations she isnt epaleptic?
Avatar n tn They are both used to treat nerve pain (neuropathic pain), but gabapentin can be useful in treating other pain syndromes, like the pain of peripheral neuropathy, or the pain of fibromyalgia. The only way to know if this medication will help is to try it, but I repeat, it is not used to substitute for opiate treatment, so you will most likely continue your morphine and oxycodone while trying it. Pain management, like football, is a game of inches.
Avatar f tn //www.healthline.com/health/back-pain/sciatic-stretches I agree that pain management seems premature here.
Avatar m tn I am currently using 8mg of buprenorphine,1800mg of gabapentin and 150mg of wellbutrin daily as medicine for pain management and nerve pain. Now I'cant obtain gabapentin anymore and would like to transfer to oxycodone 120mg daily as a substitute for buprenorphine and gabapentin.I would like to know is such change possible.
Avatar f tn They have to keep tweaking at the pain clinic and it takes time, but I take way less medication and do not feel as gross from side effects. Unfortunately there is no one size fits all solution. It depends on if you have nerve or muscle pain or both. Plus many of us have issues besides MS. I for example have MS and Cancer. I also use Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation and Therapeutic Dressage (horse back riding) for pain control. A lot of my pain is made worse by a weak core and stress.
Avatar f tn Recently my condition has become worse affecting my arms and the pain is severe. I am also a diabetic and suffer with neuropathy. I see a pain management doctor and have spinal injections every 12 weeks. I was prescribed Vicoden 10/325 for pain as well as flexeril and gabapentin. Neither the flexeril or the gabapentin seem to help with muscle tightness, spasms, or nerve pain. I am seeing my doctor again in two days and I wondered if any one could tell me of medications that have worked for you.
1315448 tn?1274018979 Pain management does offer many options to chronic pain paitents. When you see the doctor he/she will offer you what options they have available and you will go from there. If you choose one option and then find it is not right for you then you can always go back and talk to the doctor and try something else. Most of us has been through many of the options they offer to find the one that is right for us.
Avatar f tn I was taking up to 6 5/325 Norcos per day for sever back pain,an switched to gabapentin 600 mg 2-3 times per day as needed .I experienced no withdrawal effects and it kept my worst pain away, Now I take 1 or 2 gabapentins per day and most days are tolerable. I do wish I still had some vicodin for bad days , as my back pain is related to my activities any given day.
Avatar f tn I have taken gabapentin and xanax for 10+ years without problems. Xanax is a shorter acting benzodiazapine then librium. You may find you need less librium with gabapentin.
Avatar f tn t had to take the gabapentin, because the pain was completely gone. However, in the last two days, the pain has come back (albeit not as bad as it was). This morning I started on the gabapentin again, as I never experienced any side effects and figured it would prevent any further pain. I'll be contacting the pain management doctor today, to hopefully figure out the exact dosage of the steroid that I was given/ what steroid it was in particular.
Avatar m tn However the norco RX never arrived at the pharmacy but the gabapentin did. I picked up the gabapentin and concluded they were awaiting my drug test results to phone in the norco. By Friday the doctors office still hadn't instructed the pharmacy to fill the norco. I called, left a message with the receptionist and she said she would let the doctor know I hadn't recieved the norco. Well, on the 7th of August (6 days after my appointment), my wife recieves a certified letter in the mail.
Avatar f tn I have pain now down my left leg...hip pain, shin pain and numbness, ankle with electric pain and swelling. If I walk to long my lower leg swells. I have been to several spine surgeons trying to get aswers. It is very frustrating after 18 months. I have been told that my bottom screws are to long but they don't think that is the cause of pain. I have been told by my surgeon to remove appliances may help. Other surgeons say no need to remove them.
Avatar n tn I am a 50 yr old male. I was prescribed Gabapentin for neurological pain management by the VAMC in Tampa, Florida. According to some post I've read, Gabapentin is a med that one must be weened off of. I've been taking Gabapentin off and on to help with pain so I can sleep. I don't take it all the time because of the side effects. Sometimes, but not all the time, I feel like I'm having a bad hangover after the medication wears off.
Avatar f tn Dentist just say wait, but I can’t bear pain in my lower front 5 teeth’s, and dentist doesn’t care to do anything. I am on ibprufen 800 3 times a day, already completed antibiotic and steroid dosage for last 2 weeks, but no improvement. Still can’t open mouth much to eat proper food and feels pain 24 by 7. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn On that note...yes, second, third opinion and pain management. Wonder why your doc is stuck on gabapentin. When it works it works but not for all. It makes sense still that he avoids opiates because of the increase in Intracranial pressure side effect....why a lot of people do feel the rebound headaches more. There are other options that are not as offensive. I think I would be asking for a pain management referral. They are well versed on what may work and may not.
359574 tn?1328360424 I'm on gabapentin right now for nerve pain. There isn't any real problems to worry about. It does take a little while to kick in, though---I didn't notice results until 2 months on the pills. Also, if your dosage is increased, you might feel a little dizzy the first few days as you adjust. Otherwise, I like the results I've been given.
Avatar f tn I have had RSD in my left leg for three years and I take gabapentin that reduces the pain somewhat. While on gabapentin I have gained at least 20 lbs. Is there another drub I could use to reduce the pain so I can loose this weight? I am miserable being overweight. I causes pain in my ribs and I can't find clothes that fit. I am 5'3" and small boned. Please help.
Avatar f tn I have taken Gabapentin before for pain and found it about as useless as a screen door in a submarine. Yeah I know the "top doctors" prescribe it. They also used to prescribe blood-letting. In addition it seems to lower a persons IQ by about forty points (I know...that's a figure of speech), cause loss of memory, headaches, and loss of libido. I think there are many alternatives to be considered before using Gabapentin, such as a frontal lobotomy.
4308773 tn?1352574189 50mg Tramadol 4-6x day) now that I am feeling slightly better from surgery and ready to get back to work and an exercise routine, I really need my medications. I saw my pain management doctor last week and explained the situation, about gastric bypass people not being able to swallow pills and he gave me a topical cream. I tried the cream, and there is NO comparison, between the relief I get with my pills vs. this cream! I am so exasperated, and I need help!
634733 tn?1316625992 This turned out to be a good move as I have been dealing with a GP registrar the last year who has now left and the GP who rang me about the meds tells me she has a special interest in pain management and chronic conditions and would I like to continue my follow ups with her!! well, would I ever so here goes. Thanks to all of you for the great advice and for sharing.
1855076 tn?1337115303 Then everything just went sideways for all of us. My pain management doctor quit pain management and went to practice orthopedics in another practice. The new pain management doctor was very nice, seems very competent. At this point I had come off all my meds. I could see the writing on the wall and I didn't want to come off meds on their timetable; I wanted to do it on my timetable. Right now I'm getting cortisone injections and epidural injections in my back.
Avatar f tn I have recently been prescribed to Robaxin, Vicodin and Gabapentin for back pain/sciatica. Anyone have experience with these meds?
Avatar m tn I had the piece removed and have had the same symptoms since causing me to move to 2 different pain management clinics and this surgeon is the third I've seen. Now this new guy armed with the MRI that should have been done with contrast puts me on Neurontin (Gabapentin) working up to high doses for a month with instructions to come back if it dosen't fix the problem.
