Flomax prostatitis

Common Questions and Answers about Flomax prostatitis

flomax

Avatar m tn Prostatitis and BPH are similar. How and when were you diagnosed with each? I'm not here to convince you to take Flomax - that's a decision only you can make. I just want to make sure you have all the information. Depending on the dose, either .4 mg or .8 mg, only 8.4% and 18/1%, respectively, of men experienced any ejaculation issues. Again, depending on the dose, 14.9% and 17.1% experienced dizziness, respectively. http://products.sanofi.us/flomax/flomax.
Avatar m tn Hi, Thanks for writing in. Prostatitis is usually not a side effect of use of flomax, indeed it can happen due to BPH, for which flomax is used as treatment. It would be better to get prostrate examination done by a urologist and take opinion for surgery for resolving these symptoms. Choice of antibiotics depends upon the kind of organism affecting the prostrate. Best.
Avatar m tn 35M with history of off and on non bacterial prostatitis episodes going back to 18 or 19 years old. Sometimes it would be treated with antibiotics other times Flomax. Either way they all resolved easily after a week or so. fast forward to a month ago I had an external hemorrhoid develop and also had urgency and frequency. Doc said it was related to the hemorrhoid and gave me a cream. the issue resolved within a couple days.
Avatar m tn I have taken Flomax for a week, and am very weary of the side effects. It effects my vision - I can feel it in my eyes. It dulls my brain, I can feel it in my head. It caused the ringing in my ears to get worse. I've had minor chest pain for a few days. All of these are on the list of side effects.
Avatar n tn I'm a male, age 18, and I'm having a whole lot of trouble urinating. I've had trouble with this in the past, but god, it's never been this bad. A few years ago I first noticed difficulty peeing at my ex girlfriend's house. Looking into the condition, I figured it must be paruresis. However, last year, after getting surgery (I had a pilonidal sinus removed), I found that I COULD NOT pee when I got home.
Avatar n tn Hi the cause of prostatitis is poorly understood. I have had many bouts with no real reason. Ejeculation and or sexual stimulation can make things worse when you have prostatitis. Once again the cause is poorly understood. Doctors most likely will treat the symptoms only. Some will also use antibiotics. I no longer agree with that unless there is a secondary infection.
Avatar m tn that particular antibiotic is generally prescribed for prostatitis. it's also the cheapest. there are others that are given in once a day dosing called levaquin. did your doctor do a PSA blood test? this is a test to determine if the prostate is overactive and will help rule out other problems. this test was helpful for me because it help my doctor diagnose my prostate cancer before it spreaded. not intended to alarm you!
Avatar m tn I am a 25 year old male. My symptoms are as follows: (1) Cloudy urine; (2) Frequent feeling of urgency; (3) Occasional burning on urination and ejaculation; (4) Weak urine flow. I am very frustrated, as I have seen two urologists (one for about a year) and neither have made any significant headway. First they hypothesized that I had a prostate infection and put me on all kinds of antibiotics -- to no avail.
Avatar m tn So far I have taken Cipro (two rounds; 10 days and 21 days), Bactrim (14 days), and Flomax throughout all without much benefit. I am supposed to have a semen culture done in a week to see exactly what the bacteria is. My question is if anyone has had a bad case of prostatitis and urithritis and what the outcome was? Thank you for your help.
Avatar n tn I visited my family doctor who did a simple test for blood in the urine, which was positive. He diagnosed prostatitis and prescribed 2 weeks of cipro. I tried it for two days but experienced anxiety and insomnia, although I must say by the second day the urinary symptoms were completely gone. But the insomnia was miserable so I called my doctor to ask if there was anything I could do for the side effects, so he switched me to 3 wks of doxycycline, which I started taking immediately.
Avatar n tn After 6 weeks of flomax and eating a bland diet there was still no improvement. Went to another urologist who said prostatitis, gave me flomax and new antibiotics and prescribed 600mg ibuprofen 3 x day. There was no improvment after 8 weeks and he then said I probably had Interstitual Cystitis and did a cysto with hydrodistension to confirm and he did confirm that was his diagnoses. I was put on Elmiron, Elavil, Urelle and told to follow IC diet which I had already been doing since beginning.
Avatar m tn I have been suffering from what they are telling me is prostatitis for the past 4 years- everyday in agony- some days not too bad still not good. No relief to date been on MAJOR long term antibiotics, flomax, uroxatrol.. nothing has helped.
Avatar m tn I have been having bouts of prostatitis for the last 7 months however lately when I urinate and push a little bit I get a fair bit of achey pain in my spermatic cord area and base of penis. This is also amplified when I have a bit of an errection. Embaressing, but does anyone have any thoughts? It stays sore for hours sometimes I am on anti inflamitories and alpha blockers.
Avatar n tn Next he prescribed antibotics for prostatitis and that didnt help. Then he prescribed flomax, which I am taking right now but it is not helping.
Avatar m tn Six months later I went to a GP and he diagnosed me with prostatitis. He prescribed Cipro and Flomax. This helped for a while, but eventually it stopped. Next I went to a urologist. He took a history and did a dre. He said my prostate felt inflamed and I did indeed have prostatitis. The pain was quite severe at this point and I was having problems urinating. He prescribed doxycycline and flomax. This seemed to work for a little while. I returned three months later and told him of my status.
16335396 tn?1461333696 He now has chronic Prostatitis, he takes flomax and doxycyline for this when he has flare ups. Unfortunately at times it causes ED, which causes him to have to take more medication.
Avatar m tn I also went on the standard prostatitis regimen of leviquin, flomax and an NSAID. I tested negative for the other STDs. I went for an HIV test 25 days after exposure (labcorp ICMA antibody test and it was negative). I am now concerned that I have developed a fever and some swollen lymph nodes in the neck (probably from me touching them). Do I have a valid concern? I will test again at 3 months, but is there any value in testing at 5 or 6 weeks? Thanks for your input and help.
Avatar m tn I have some similar symptoms. Could be prostatitis. I'm on Flomax and Cipro for it. My uroligst thinks this is what I have but not sure. http://www.webmd.
Avatar n tn So the next thing they did, was check my prostate. They said it was enlarged. So the diagnosis was prostatitis. So they prescribed me cipro, and yes, thats for an infection. They didn't prescribe me anything for my enlarged prostate. So I went with it, took that for 4 days, and no signs of improvement. So I went back to the doctors, this time a different doc, and he said I did have an enlarged prostate, so he prescribed me another antibiotic, and this time flomax.
Avatar f tn I recently experienced retrograde ejaculation followed by discomfort. I started flomax 2 weeks ago for prostatitis and started taking detrol la 2 days ago. Thank goodness I found this website, as I don't feel so embarrased now, but I am still very concerned.
Avatar m tn I am a 52 year old male who has had prostatitis for 7 months now with continuous pain. I have been on several courses of antibiotics including Cipro, Bactrin and currently doxycyline, with now real improvement. I had TURP on 9/14 for enlarged protsate that was blocking urine flow but the inflammation is still there - my urologist said this is very uncommmon to happen. I started Lyrica (50 mg 3x daily) this week to try and alleviate the pain - that can take a week or more to work (if it helps).
Avatar n tn There is some evidence that supports the use of medications used to treat BPH (such as flomax) to help reduce symptoms of chronic prostatitis, however, this treatment appears to only be effective for a small subset of patients and is not generally recommended. It is not uncommon for men with prostatitis to develop small calcifications in their prostate which can cause distortions in the ultrasound image and possibly could be felt on rectal exam.
Avatar n tn Visit with URO was routine, said that he had no doubt that I had prostatitis and that the penis tip burning was a sure sign, he did exam said inflamed. Put me on flomax, no acidic foods or drinks for 30 days. I followed 30 days with little improvement. Next visit did not go well with this doctor, I did not feel confident in him. I found new URO,he did exam said prostate was inflamed. Cipro 500mg 2xd, Ibuprofen 800mg 3xd and Uroxatrol 10mg 1xd for 30d.
Avatar n tn The pain from chronic prostatitis can be relieved by NSAIDS (ibuprofen, naproxen) or alpha-blockers (flomax, terazosin). Have your PSA followed regularly and have your urologist follow PSA velocity, PSA density, and free PSA.
1825362 tn?1317883153 I request info about triple therapy and prostatitis as I also suffer from prostatitis.... also depression and anziety which are being controlled daily with flomax and ativan respectively. I am disabled with severe back pain....... recently weaned myself off of methadone 20mg daily for pain. I still take 25mg to 30 mg oxycodone for pain control. 1.5 mg daily for anziety. Most days I am not out of the house.... others I do not get out of bed. I have tried antidepressants such as lexipro...
Avatar m tn (wondering about antibotics causing false negative) On day 13 started taking Cipro on premise I may have prostatitis..since all tests are negative. I had prostatitis before (3-4 yrs ago), so prone to it. Thinking maybe the anal invoke some prostate insult. Anyway finished Cipro, next day had some night sweat, had another urinalysis: negative as inspected under microscope. Urination discomfort is gone but have a inflammation feeling in groin and upper thigh.
