Avatar m tn (sporadic sharp and dull pain, no other symptoms) I went to my GP and was diagnosed with a mild case of epididymitis and prescribed 500mg of cipro twice daily for seven days and 500 mg ibuprofin 2 times a day for 10 days. The pain subsided for two weeks and then returned. Went back to my GP and he prescribed me with 500mg cipro twice daily for 10 days. After a week without improvement I went to a Urologist. He confirmed epididymitis and instructed me to stop taking the cipro.
Avatar m tn These natiral sources include avocados, wheatgerm, cashew fruit, pumpkin seeds, etc. Sitting in a hot bath for 10-15 min twice daily will also help provide pain relief. Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.
Avatar m tn One should avoid any of the above that apply and ejaculate in moderation (about once or twice a week). Ejaculation beyond the tolerance of the prostate to fill and empty may also cause discomfort. Likewise if one does so infrequently, fluid still builds up from thoughts, dreams, fantasies, etc. and has to be released periodically to decompress the gland and relieve the symptoms. A daily warm bath for 10-15 minutes also lessens the discomfort. There are several types of prostatitis.
Avatar m tn A long course of antibiotics can disrupt normal gastrointestinal function and destroy friendly bacteria present in the tract. You will need to take yoghurt twice or thrice daily for a week to restore normal intestinal flora. Flomax will help now that the infection is settling down. If sticky and hard to digest foods are associated with some of your symptoms, avoid them. Instead of white bread switch to wholegrain bread or rice and potatoes. Substitute meat with fish or other seafood.
Avatar m tn My thinking here - since a blocking stone can cause hydroureter condition, (normally bad and painful), would waiting to urinate until the bladder is very full cause some dilation of the ureters from build up of urine in the ureters, which after urinating, (the ureter valve at the bladder closes during urination), might cause additional force on the stone to flush down the dilated ureter? (I'm taking 0.

Avatar n tn The bladder image with contrast dye looked good. And yes..i have been on flomax and avodart all this time too. Any advice apreciated...Thanks!
Avatar n tn and Zonisimide 100 mg once daily); Flomax .4 mg (once daily); and Lasix 20 mg. (once daily). Needless to day, despite our group insurance and his Medicare our pharmacy bill (copays) is more than the mortgage payment each month. I would think that all these meds might also have a bearing on his symptoms, but have never seen anything addressing this. It seems that whenever something changes, we never stop taking a med, we only add another to the list. Thanks so much for your help.
Avatar n tn My urine test showed nothing abnormal. My doctor said it may be my prostate and put me on on cipro twice a day for 10 days and wanted to see me the next week. I returned to the doctors with the symptoms still present, but not as pronounced. I really wasn't going any more frequent than I always have (I've always thought I have a smaller bladder than most fellas), but the uncomfortable feeling was new.
Avatar n tn It went away after 10-15 mins, then came back twice more that day for similar bursts. I peed blood that day. Got better. Then a week ago, my groin on the right side hurt badly enough that I drove to the ER. I peed blood big-time that day. I figured it was a kidneystone, although I've never had one. Not bleeding anymore and no pain, but I do feel urgency to pee in the middle of the night. I mean, I pee at 2 a.m., and then I feel like I have to go again before I even walk back to bed.
129317 tn?1189759421 They have restented it but is 50% occluded again. I am probably going to have to increase my Ranexa dose to 1000mg twice daily. I guess my concern is what happens when the Ranexa stops working? Will bypass help ?
Avatar f tn I went to my Dr's last week because I was having more heat intolerance/hot flashes, and my B/P is coming up,so I thought my TSH would be low, but it was 15! My Dr. told me to take 100mcg daily now. I read somewhere that people with Hashi's can have heat intolerance as well as cold- I have both. If I start doing any physical activity, such as vacuuming, or exercise- I produce heat a lot of heat and start sweating.
Avatar m tn Now the one I have left, in my right kidney, is about twice the size, 10 mm, so once it leaves the kidney I will be in excruciating pain and into surgery immediately. I could probably do the soundwave treatment, but my doctor said it's only 60 percent effective and it leaves a lot of bruising. He said the operation was much more effective and relatively easy. After the first operation I know what to expect. I did have some minor complications the first 6 or so times urinating after the surgery.
Avatar f tn In march i was given another 3 months of cipro to no avail, have tried doxy, co amoxiclav, amoxicillin (again and again, into 3rd week of course again) , trimethoprim, flomax, all kinds of pain meds and herbs none of which give me reliable symptom relief, it just seems to do what it wants to me, i struggle to leave the house due to the pain and frequent urination.
Avatar n tn I went in the bathroom since it was a sunday night and removed the dern thing. I still couldnt pee, so my husband cathed me twice that night twice, I know he was not qualified nor was it safe but I had to go and hospital didn't seem to care last time I went in there. Called the doctor next morning told them what happened but left out the fact that my hubby cathed me, she made the statement you took it out the second time and was nasty with me.
Avatar m tn I've been on an absolutely bland diet for 3 months. I've been on 20mg Omeprazole twice daily for about 2 months, and for more than a month have taken 40mg Famotidine, an H2 blocker, before bed. For the last 10 days I've been ALSO taking Gaviscon after every meal, up to 4 times a day. And I suck on plenty of Rennies, as well as Lemocin and even a prescription throat pain killer. Nothing really helps. I don't eat for at least 5 hours before bed. I've raised my bed head several inches.
Avatar m tn Flomax, does NOT break up the stone. Flomax helps relieve the pressure you feel in the bladder, as well as dilates your ureters to help your body pass the stone with less discomfort, and ease of getting it out of the urethra. Oxycodone is just generic Percocet narcotic. An ER doctor told me it's comparable to the pain relief strength of Dilaudid. I am always given the Dilaudid for my kidney stone attacks in the Emergency Room via intravenous injection.
Avatar n tn I have since switched to Ultram of which I take two tablets twice daily, in the early morning and early evening which helps somewhat. But, for the most part, it doesn't work nearly as well, nor as consistently as the Lortab had prior to the operation. So, basically, I have some sort of prostatadynia, for which I took Lortab for years. I decided I would try the TUIP surgery to improve my condition, and possibly reduce my need for the narcotics.
147426 tn?1317269232 I mop floors only about twice a week now instead of twice a day. THAT was really aggravating. And the usual side effects from such a med - even doubled - were minimal. Not much of a dry mouth nor much constipation. This was a sparkle from the med box that I didn't mind. Suddenly, I was sick. Indescribably sick - literally - I couldn't describe it. My whole head was about to crack open, my skin felt tight and hot, yet the movement of air from a fan was horridly painful and uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn What are meds I can take almosts daily that can control this? I'm feeling depressed, anxious and completely exhaused every day. I'm in need to relief and I'm not sure how much longer I can take this.
Avatar m tn However, the discomfort ended up suppressing itself for the next two years to a point where I could do my daily activities and not worry about it. Two years later, or about three months ago, the discomfort came back much worse and persistant. I went to see my doctor, where after a negative urinalysis; I was given Doxycycline for Epidytimitis. Didn't help. I was then told it was Prostatitis.
Avatar n tn and see if the problem he describes is similar to what you are facing. Enigmaman; I just started a trial run of Flomax, and I'm telling you, that stuff is wonderful. Almost as good as the Cipro! My flaccid penis is about 4 inches long now (it always used to be 1-1.5" at most) and when I'm on this, I never get micro-peen syndrome. I can urinate pretty freely, and the whole area down there seems relaxed. Sweet relief!
Avatar m tn I consulted my family practitioner in December and i was prescribed ciprofloxacin twice a day for 10 days. She also did various STD tests , diabetes and urine test all of which came out -ve along with kidney ultrasound being normal as well .After 10 days , i felt significant improvement but not 100% . As such , i was prescribed levofloxacin for 5 days but levofloxacin seemed to aggravate the problem and i discontinued it after taking it for 2 days.
Avatar m tn I had a few more clots passing / spasms on Saturday but things were finally getting much better. Saturday night I only had to get up to pee twice (still drinking lots of water to keep things moving). Sunday morning I had one more small spasm (hopefully no more) and I took my pain killers. Now I just need to survive all Sunday (day and night) and consider if I want to try to go into work for Monday.
Avatar n tn the same day of surgery and was given an Rx for Peridium- a urinary tract analgesic that makes the urine orange. He also got a med similar to Flomax (don't have the med in front of me) which is what they give men for enlarged prostates to help them urinate. He is unhappy about the stent being removed in office with just pre med at home of Xanax. He has pain meds (PO Dilaudid) and said he plans to take it before we go to the office. I say whatever he needs to control pain.
Avatar m tn At one point I was using a ballon catheter daily, inserting it then inflating it with a syringe full of water to inflate and open up the stricture. I did this for a couple of years, needless to say even as carefull as I was I was plagued with multiple infections. The catheter was placed in a pitcher filled with vinegar something my doctor ordered. The catheter had to be reused and laste almost a year before it spung a leak.
Avatar n tn 10 months ago i saw blood in my sperm after intercourse. i had sex twice and everything was ok, and after the third time the problems began. my partner and i had hard sex and my penis hurt a bit when she was on top of me. i urinated a few minutes after ejaculating and blood came out along with a very big blood clot at the end. i had sexual intercourse about 7 or 8 times before seeing a doctor. the same occurred except for 2 times, in which no blood appeared.
Avatar n tn I had a med resident tell me I had herpes and I obviously had a panic attack. After I got tested twice (at two month intervals) and also told I (and the resident) were crazy about the diagnosis by another doctor. I went to a urologist to see what was up and he told me I had prostatitis. I was on cipro for 4 weeks but in two different times. Problem slightly subsided but I still get pain in the urethra every once in awhile.
