Flexeril for muscle spasms

Common Questions and Answers about Flexeril for muscle spasms

flexeril

Avatar m tn why is he having muscle spasms? I have taken flexeril and soma for many many years..( never that many at a time) I would think if his spasms are severe enough to do that he would go to a dr. or the ER. I hope he is ok....but the guy neeeds help and only a dr can do it....It may be from a chemical imbalance that he is getting the spasms...and no muscle relaxer will do anything for that long term.
Avatar f tn I am still in limbo land but my neurologist didn't answer my question at my last appointment about my muscle spasms (even though I'm mid-testing I feel like I'm going to change, he doesn't listen or answer my questions well). Anyways. It's all so confusing and I would like to understand a little bit more. The ones I'm specifically asking about are the big thigh muscles on the front of my legs and my groin muscles.
Avatar f tn Could anyone tell me if having muscle spasms are part of Fibromyalgia? I have several a month in my back. They are not painful, but just jolt me for a few minutes. There is no rhyme or reason for them they come whenever they want to. Because of these I do not drive as they take away my concentration for a few moments while I am having one. Please if anyone has any idea what these are could they please help me. I have been to every kind of Dr.
Avatar f tn t work for me, however, it works quite well for my dad (who has a back problem with muscle spasms). Flexeril works pretty well for me, but like you, it makes me VERY sleepy. My prescription for it calls for three a day - but believe me, if I were to take 3 in a day, I wouldn't get out of bed! I've also tried Soma and that also worked pretty well for me and was not as sedating (for me anyway) as the flexeril.
Avatar f tn Neurontin, Lyrica for the nerve pain, and Baclophen or Flexeril for the muscle spasms. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Last night I tried without one and the muscle spasms were worse. Does anyone know if the Flexeril is actually causing these to last longer than they normally would? I'm afraid it's keeping my nerves from healing up. Everyone else I've heard from here say that this usually stops by week 3.
1478560 tn?1314628853 Anyway, i always had muscle spams. Nothing i couldnt handle. I was given pills (flexeril 10 mg) and they used to work. But lately...no matter what i take the pain is overwelming. I cant even walk! idk if my mind is playing tricks on me. If im making it worse than it really is. Dont take me wrong, i believe i can take the pain (hey i had 3 kids...yeah i can take pain LOL) but i dont think this is right. Basically...what can i take or do to prevent or ease the pain.
Avatar f tn I just googled trapezius muscle and that's exactly to a T, where I'm getting this feeling. Bob, what do you think yours is your related to?
1243543 tn?1269124022 ve taken cyclobenzaprine myself for muscle spasms. When you first start taking, it might make you feel a little strange, and it can blur your vision a little. But as you begin to get use to it these side effects tend to go away. You don't have to be frightened of it, just be cautious. And don't drive or anything, til you get used to it. I've never heard of anyone taking half a pill, but its probably a good idea until you get use to it. And hopefully, it will make you feel better.
Avatar m tn I sustained a compression fracure on L1-T11 and i still have severe muscle spasms on my left side lower back muscle. I tried pretty much everything as far as painmeds. and muscle relaxers but no luck. I'm getting to used to the Norco's i take and get depressed when on Percocet so i dont know where to go from here. I see a Pain specialst but have not had any luck with him. They tell me that my back is crocked and that the muscles are doing what the spine is suppose to be doing.
Avatar n tn Is this facial atrophy permanent or will it reversed when I pick up chewing again? Also, did the muscle spasms contribute to muscle atrophy? I am also experiencing ear symptoms (crackling/popping noises when I yawn/chew/eat). I also have ringing in the ears. More importantly, I wanted to know if the atrophy is reversible.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Vicoden 10/325 for pain as well as flexeril and gabapentin. Neither the flexeril or the gabapentin seem to help with muscle tightness, spasms, or nerve pain. I am seeing my doctor again in two days and I wondered if any one could tell me of medications that have worked for you. I have a high tollerence to medication, most do not make me sleepy at all. I have tried Tizanadine in the past but for some reason that medication gives me bad headaches.
Avatar m tn Wondering what there is for muscle spasms. I tried flexeril and zanaflex and they dont do anything. Is there something stronger out there and if so do you still stay awake. I'm on Vicoprofen right now but it's not to effective. I was going to ask my Doc about Norco to see what he thinks of that.
Avatar f tn Flexeril is not addictive if you use it only when needed I took it for years for a bad back but you dont get hi on it so for the most part if taken as directed your ok just stay away from soma that is a different story...................................Gnarly.....................................
Avatar m tn He too gets wicked muscle spasms and takes the Flexeril for that. It helps him. I am an opiate addict (for effect) but do get bad lower back pain at night, probably from carrying 60 pounds on my small frame during pregnancy...and I am getting older. I do not get any effect that I find appealing and have never abused it even though I have access to it. Soma, however, is super potent. One of our friend's wives became addicted to opiates and soma and died of sn accidental overdose last fall.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor and she gave me Flexeril and Pain meds. And gave me some paper and to strength the back. I only it the the flexeril for couple days and starting swimming programs which help . But still having pain and the spasms now seem worse. I also feel pain down my legs. Getting out of bed to get ready for the day is very difficult. Went back and she give different Muscle relaxer (soma) which works but if I dont take them the back spasms are they. Should I have MRI.
Avatar n tn Recently recommended to try flexoril for muscle spasms and told may have sedating effect. Told to take at bedtime. Wondering if Baclofen would not be a sedating. Neuro said it may be time for either one of these drugs. Also want to know which is most effective, longer lasting.
373367 tn?1246402035 I have had spasicity issues even since my first attack 13 years ago. There are many good drugs out there. I have tried them all. I believe! I am hesitant to say which ones did what, since that may keep you from trying ones that actually work for you. I do not want to discourage anyone. What doesn't work for one person, may work perfectly for another. Many Neuro's think that the spasms are like "muscle seizures." Many prescribe anti-seizure medications.
1068422 tn?1293684253 I take Klonopin at night for muscle spasms and to help me sleep . It works wonderfully. I also have a friend who takes it during the day in smaller amounts for "the shakes" and it seems to work. It is a benzodiazapine which means it is in the same class as Valium and some other drugs you may have heard of which cause relaxation and decreased activity.
1460652 tn?1340248730 has anyone ever had pvcs/pacs while on the muscle relaxant flexeril? for the last couple of months my constant pvcs have been actually somewhat manageable, or at least tolerable. then i was involved in a car accident and was prescribed flexeril 7 days ago. the palps started 30 mins after the first pill. i just thought it was stress from the accident and "oh great, the skips are back"...until they became debilitating, and my bp dropped to 90/50, where as it is usually 115/75.
Avatar n tn Muscle relaxers should not be used for sleep but for actual muscle pain / spasms. My husband takes them when he has bad neck pain / spasm days, but going to the chiropractor helps with that regard. He hates when he has to take them at night because they actual make him wake up in the middle of the night and then he can't go back to sleep. Stick with natural ways to induce sleep: tea, hot baths, and maybe some melatonin.
585414 tn?1288941302 My neurologist and I agree that I have built up a tolerance to the Flexaril I take for a wide variety of spasms from advanced tardive dyskinesia (please note I take it responsibly as prescribed) and the dystonic and dysphagic spasms have come back. For a long while the Flexaril along with Methocarb and Skelaxin (which I still take) worked. But then it began to stop.
Avatar f tn Yes neck movement and walking, the VA done a MRI and they said they couldn't find anything and it was prob just muscle spasms so they gave me flexirels but it don't help.i was thinking it might be a pinched nerve too.
Avatar f tn I think you are right. Thank you for pointing out about spasms not being linked to vit d deficiency. I already take 2 baclofen. I have had some better sleep, but I still have spasms. I am on a twelve week course of vit d.
Avatar m tn I recently have been perscribed Flexiril 10 mg bid prn along with Nuerontin 300mg TID I try not to use the flexiril unless the muscle spasms are to unbarable however After using it for just over a month now, if I do not take a dose of the flexiril at bedtime I will not be able to sleep, not because of muscle spasms but rather restlessness and my mind not wanting to relax.
Avatar n tn Call your doctor if you have dark-colored urine, have a fever, have muscle cramps or spasms, have muscle pain or stiffness, or feel very tired or weak. Do not stop using your medicines without talking to your doctor first. Jennifer R RPh www.drugstore.
