Hi, my husband is disabled with chronic severe back/leg/hip pain from multiple failed surgeries and and one of his pain management meds is Flexeril, that Clean mentioned. He too gets wicked muscle spasms and takes the Flexeril for that. It helps him. I am an opiate addict (for effect) but do get bad lower back pain at night, probably from carrying 60 pounds on my small frame during pregnancy...and I am getting older.
Xanax is used to treat anxiety and not pain. Research shows that if you use an opiate pain reliever with Xanax that it will cause the opiate to work better. Xanax will has always been known to make you sleepy so please do not drive while taking it... It knocks me out sometimes, I have have taken a pretty high dose for years and it is still working as well as it always has... helps me sleep.... in fact, nights when I hurt there is not way that I can sleep without it. Your are making some great choices and it will be a rough several days but I can promise you it is well worth it. I struggled with pain meds and Xanax for a few years and was taking enough of both to kill a horse. Luckily I'm not a horse! Anyway have you been taking a lot of Xanax. Be very careful with CT on Xanax because it can be very dangerous. I would like to know how much you were taking of both so I may be able to give you some solid suggestions.
I also take Flexeril three times a day with a xanax to calm the muscles, I have severe spasticity in my hip and I usually get a nice shot of lidocaine in my back everytime I go to the Dr office. It is worth the money for the few hours of relief.

I think with u already taking xanax and flexeril that u don't need anymore meds. I do think the xanax and flexeril is what is helping u not feel the w/d's so bad. When I got off narcos (I quit a couple times and went right back:-( ) I would get xanax and fleril to get me through it. So from my experience I know for myself that those meds help A lot . How many days has it been since your last dose of pain meds? Did I read last night u took your last dose?
Thx guys. The flexeril, gabapentin and xanax were not steady. The xanax was usually cut 1/2. A rx of 20 lasted 2 months if not longer. The flexeril & Gabapentin has been taken sparaticly also. 1 month RX has lasted me almost 3 on each of those.
Last night was only the 2nd time I had ever taken 2mg xanax. At most 1 a day for 3 days in a row.
This morning I made my self get up and run errands with my husband and kids.

I am asking because i am hanving jaw tension and pain now and want to take the flexeril but i am afraid it might trigger my hyop tyroidism.
My big fear is epilepsy Oxy use to make me shake and bite my tongue but since i been on 200mg Lamictal it has stopped I read Flexeril may cause seizure but then I also read the opposite.
Even if I am not epileptic I like to play it safe as my Doc is out, and the pharmacy worker never seems to know anything.
So does Flexeril increase seizure risk or is that just for (diagnosed) epileptics?
I don't want to add it to the oxy and have a attack.
I been taking flexeril for years because of muscle pain due to Lupus and for the last 2 months have been being treated for severe indigestion as a side effect of the med Verapimil. I was wondering if the flexeril could relax the sphincter muscle that is involved in GERD? Please give me any ideas or info you might have regarding if the flexeril would be contraindicated due to the GERD situation? Thanks, God bless!
My back is really bothering me!! Hurts so bad and can't relax for anything!! I'm 35 weeks and really want to! Has anyone taken a muscle relaxer or even a half of one?
I've had bad lower back, tailbone, and pelvic pain. My doctor prescribed flexiril and pain meds. I take them as needed, I usually take half of a muscle relaxer though cause they make me so sleepy!
I started taking hydrocodone in 2005 and taking xanax in 2010. My dosage was half a milligram twice a day of xanax and 10 mgs of hydro every six to eight hours. The xanax is my huge problem....Im now up to six to ten mgs a day. no, im not lying. ive hasd blackouts, losing entire days at a time, conversations you name it. Im currently out of tramadol and xanax and have no choice but to go cold turkey, my doctor is a pusher and wouldnt help me anyway.
a little more info but the short answer is yes with a prescription and yes if it is available in the home and yes from friends. Do you take flexeril? Who suggested it? What does your child need it for?
I ask this way because of the ongoing epidemic of Prescription drug abuse by children who get it at home or from friends who get it at home etc. And you did good asking but better to ask your doc. So fill us in and put your pills in a secure Secure place! Looking forward to hearing from you.
