fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn Right now I am taking percocet for my pain until my blood work comes back and I get stabilized on maintenance meds. I am strongly thinking about asking him for Ultram, for my pain and Severe RLS. I was wondering if anyone is taking it or ever tried it and how it works for them? thank you.
Avatar f tn I am now worried with all these posts about Ultram, but I have to take something for the pain. He gave me samples and I took one today, it did help with the pain and I do notice a euphoric effect and increased energy level. Don't know what to do.
Avatar f tn Why does Ultram help with Fibromyalgia while other stronger opiates don't? Is Ultram an opiate?
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, and I have severe muscle pain and stiffness. I was wondering if anyone could tell me any kind of medicine that might help? Everything I have tried so far didn't help at all......

Avatar f tn I've been addicted to Ultram for about 5 years. It was given to me for pain control w/ Fibromyalgia. It changed my life. I was able to get up in the morning without pain and go through my whole day and not hurt or feel like a lead weight was on my shoulders. It was literally a miracle. I just couldn't believe that I was pain free. But what I liked even more was the feeling that Ultram gave me. Carefree, happy, sense of well being, you know the rest. Well that was 5 years ago. I am 24 years old.
Avatar f tn last year i was at work selling beer at the nba games with a big cooler walking around well i ended up tearing my acl had the surgery its now a year later still healing still have a little pain the doc gave me tons of ultram and celebrex well i was taking the ultram it worked great now im think im ******* hooked on the ultram it makes me feel great but when u stop taking it watch out brother its worse then anything i think i ever withdrew from that includes oxycontin 120 80mg in 2 weeks with 60
Avatar n tn But on the other hand I have been hearing that the Ultram is great for taking the pain away and I suffer all the time with extreme back pain. So any feed back would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn Be honest about your use of the ultram, and that you feel it's a risk for you. If you need to, find a pain management doctor or neurologist who can help you find relief. You shouldn't have to suffer in pain, but you don't want go down a potential road of addiction. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I can feel your pain. I was addicted to Ultram too and the withdrawal is worse than hydrocodone. The best thing to do is gradually taper off, that is if you have the control. I used benadryl and lots of sleep to get past the withdrawal. I wish you the best.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome over 7 years ago. My dr. started out with the lowest pain med (Ultram) and then we worked from there until something helped. At this point in time, I have been taking morphine sulfate extended relief (100mg) 2 x's daily. I also take morphine sulfate instant relief (30 mg) x2 for break through pain and flare-ups.
Avatar f tn You shouldn't expect any more pain relief than you are already experiencing on the Ultram. Ultram ACTS like a narcotic but it is not a pure opioid agonist. It has the potential to cause addiction, dependance, and withdrawal when abruptly stopped just like Vicodin. There is controversy surrounding Ultram on whether or not it is an opioid since at least we know it behaves like one. Nucynta is very very similar to Ultram only much stronger and it is a controlled substance...
Avatar f tn My husband goes to the doctor with me to let him know he helps manage my meds and my doctor still makes my feel like some sort of drug addict. PS-- forget going on vacation and needing to go the ER with a dx of Fibromyalgia. Your lucky if they even give you a tylenol. Also----have tried all the antidepressant-they don't work!! All they do it cause weight gain and give your emotions a flatline.
Avatar n tn #1-ssri- the anti-depressants that are well tolerated by most people, they can also help with pain, especially all over pain. Lyrica is one of them, Ultram is another, #2-This one is for nerve pain which fibro is, Neurontin or Gabapentin, its not a narcotic and is well tolerated by most. #3-This one is excellent for two ways-excercise and water therapy. Swimming, ask your doctor before starting any new regimen.
Avatar m tn I take Ultram ER for my Fibromyalgia and Lorcet for break through pain. I haven't had any problems with mixing the two. The Ultram ER works on the pain in my muscles etc, the Lorcet works in keeping the joint pain down.
Avatar f tn I can't eat, sleep, or function because of the pain. I have read several posts from women who have taken pain meds during pregnancy, has anyone had a baby and took tramadol during pregnancy or vicodin? I know neurontin has shown to have negative effects on the fetus but tramadol and vicodin have not but they haven't been proven safe either. I took vicodin for year before I was diagnosed and was then switched to tramadol for long term use.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been on 300mg of Ultram or Ultram ER for 10 years for fibromyalgia & arthritis pain. I have come to believe the side effects or drug itself have caused many other problems and want to try to stop taking it to see what happens. I am down to one 100mg ER pill a day and am handling it fairly well as far as withdrawals. Where should I go from here?
Avatar n tn For Lupus (systemic) and Fibromyalgia. What did I do before Ultram? Had an experience of addiction with narcotic (pain killers) and went to jail over it (called in my own Rx'S)! Pretty crazy of me, huh? Now that I have gotten over the narcotic craving (3yrs ago), I have learned that Ultram has been nothing but a replacement to my previous narcotic problem. My current dosage of Ultram is up to 8 tabs a day.
Avatar n tn I have takin vicodin es and ultram and a bunch of other medicines and i will take ultram over any of them for the pain. I have had cronic back pain since i have been 10 years old. so i have been through a bunch of pain killers. and ultram is not addictive at least to me. i have never had withdrawls so i dunno.. think what u wanna think..
Avatar n tn My doctors told me I would have to take some kind of medicine to control the pain for the rest of my life and recommended Ultram, because it wasn't addicting. After years of taking the medicine, it came out that it was a very addicting drug and this was confirmed when I had WDs. I really am grateful for the person who posted this schedule to wean off this medicine, because it has helped keep the WDs to a minimum and I am working towards being free of this.
Avatar n tn I have insomnia, but never attributed it to ultram- was taking 8 per day- when fibromyalgia really hit me- but now am down to 2-3 per day, with hydrocodone. Am trying nerve surgeries where I will not need as much pain meds... is my hope anyhow. I am trying not to take as many hydro as prescribed- do not want an addiction on it... already am loving the less pain on it tho- not take it all away- but better than anything else has... by the way- ultram/tramadol are non-narcotics, look them up.
Avatar n tn When I told my doc that I had a probablem w/ taking pain med responsibly, He gave me Ultram for pain. He told me it was not habbit forming ala "paxil", and had no opiate buzz with it. but I know of many peapole on this site including UltrAGIRL. whom has had a real REAL bat time getting off of it. So yeah. It can be very addicting.
Avatar n tn I started taking percocet nine years ago, given to me by an eye doctor for glaucoma, secondary to cataract surgery. I was 36 years old. Stopped the percocet. Withdrawal symptoms were diagnosed as fibromyalgia. Have been on klonopin & ultram since then. Drs vistis too numerous to mention. No dr.came up that my fatigue and pain were due to the meds. Pain due to the 4 hrs. after klonopin wore off. Had decided to try an antidepressant for my "symptoms.
Avatar f tn I was first diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I was told I needed to see a Rhumetologist and let him diagnose me. The rhumetologist told me I have hepatitus. Can a person with hep have pain in the winter and numbness in fingers?
Avatar m tn My body feels as if it is held tight -I feel that I was beaten in my entire body, the annoying pain is constant and debilitating -There are some days when the pain subsides, and other days when it comes back in force -My body tremors and I get internal disturbance, esp.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I am 25 years old and it is almost crippling for me. Right now I am on Ultram and zoloft. My dr wants me to go see a rheumatologist. I am so upset about the diagnosis because I am so young. I have little kids that I want to chase around at the park and play with but it is a struggle just to get out of bed.
Avatar m tn Here is a list of my symptoms fatigue/weakness chronic pain- ALWAYS feels like I have overworked my muscles even when I have done nothing. My shins constantly feel bruised but are not. cold increases my pain to a highly untolerable level. night chills/sweats- I wake up freezing with 5 blankets on me and my sheets are soaking from my night sweats. trouble sleeping- even with sleep medication (trazadone, seroquel) inability to get warm after exposure to cold.
Avatar n tn Exercise, prayer, seemed to take of it,....seriously. I do know some that go to pain clinics,.......but who wants to be on pain medication, its as debilitating, if not more, than the pain. I vote Life-style change,....because it can work for life. Again,.....you know what they say about opinions.
Avatar f tn fms is for me everchanging and so are my meds. my dr tells me when i am nothurting so bad to decrease pain meds i take ultram, recently added darvocet ultram just wasnt enough by itself . your body gets used to one and sometimes need changing. i have been taking lryica since last june which really helped in my tingling legs the sharp stabbing pain i would get in my legs and toes. dr took me off it about 3 weeks ago because i was having a mri, not sure what that was about.
Avatar f tn Were you ever on antidepressants or any medication that would effect dopamine, serotonin or norepinephrine levels, prior to being dx'd with Fibromyalgia? If so, what was your age and approximately how long did you stay on the medication. Thank you for your response to this poll. Have a nice day.
