Avatar f tn This doesn't really sound much like fibromyalgia pain - that pain is typically widespread and not just in one area (although certain areas can feel worse at times than other areas). It also usually affects both sides of the body pretty equally. It sounds more like maybe a shoulder injury (have you fallen or stretched your shoulder at all? heavy lifting?) I could also be a pleuritic type pain (inflammation of the area around the lungs).
Avatar n tn I have fibromyalgia and was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia after many years of suffering with severe pain. I still have pain all the time. It is hard to get of bed some days.
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia ,for about 16 yrs..hydrochodone helps so much with the symptoms. I've tried to go off it several times but either wasn't successful or went back on it due to fibromyalgia symptoms . Now I'm needing more and more taking 4-6 daily just to function . I don't know what to do. my daughter is a nurse and says that I also have to be true to myself and the pain I suffer. But I feel like I'm in "such a trap" and I hate it! Any one have any advice for me?
690327 tn?1255358111 Hi, I know how you feel. When I turned 50, it seems like I fell apart. I used to be so active, in good shape, and happy. I got arthritis, carpal tunnel, fibro, DDD and herniated discs in my neck, overweight, high cholesterol and BP--you name it, it seems like I got it. I hate the fibro the most. Very painful.
Avatar n tn I am curious if what I tell you fits the profile for Fibromyalgia. The lack of fatigue and major sleep issues makes me feel like I may be experiencing something else.

Light excersise helps but dont over due it. I have a very stressful job, when I feel the pain getting horrific I go hide and meditate or pray. Its all about finding what works for you.
Avatar n tn I have been having chest pain for quite some time now. For the past 2 weeks it comes & goes. It is worse sometimes (it varies from day to day) when I eat, when I exercise, when I get too stressed, when I get hot & when I lie down. It is like a sharp nagging pain in the middle of my rib cage sometimes lasting more than a few minutes. I have always also had problems with shortness of breath & dizziness. I am also tired all the time.

Avatar f tn If this sounds familiar, you may have fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by widespread pain in your muscles, ligaments and tendons, as well as fatigue and multiple tender points — places on your body where slight pressure causes pain. Fibromyalgia is more common in women than in men. Previously, fibromyalgia was known by other names such as fibrositis, chronic muscle pain syndrome, psychogenic rheumatism and tension myalgias.

358486 tn?1294779988 I exercise 4 times a week no matter how bad I feel. I just push throug the pain. I do get the breast pain, chest wall soreness, rib soreness. Areas that are ALWAYS sore to touch are my neck, shoulder blades area, ribs, spine and upper back. My butt cheeks, extending down to hip area and outer thigh area. I have more but these are the pronounced areas. I hopes this helps with some insight as to what this condition is all about.
Avatar n tn Although there is no cure for fibromyalgia, home treatment can relieve some of the symptoms. Fibromyalgia pain is muscle pain and the most important therapy for muscle pain is regular, gentle and low-impact exercise. It keeps muscles conditioned and healthy and decreases the amount of discomfort. It is very important to try low-stress exercises such as walking, swimming, water aerobics, and biking rather than straining exercises such as weight training. Heavy exercises worsen the symptoms.
Avatar n tn There are tranquilizers or hypnotics that you can talk with your doctor about that can help you get a better night's sleep. If so, then also ask, Have a tried the gauntlet of other meds out there to see if they help with my pain as well without the side effect of insomnia?

358486 tn?1294779988 My sleep pattern became very weird and I would awaken after 8 hours of sleep and feel like I had not slept. My neck and shoulders ached ALL the TIME! This went on for until 2005. I started having extreme pain in my right side and usually one to two weeks out of the month - my knees (more over, the BACK of my knees) would just ache and burn something awful. I was still drinking pretty heavily at the time so again - I thought it was something else.
Avatar f tn It discussed the link between pain and foods. It does sound like you could have fibromyalgia but it may be complicated with the cervical issues. If you can try to come up with a list / a way of explaining how you are affected by your pain it would help you figure it out. Start a journal of your daily experience with your pain. Even if it's a few sentences daily. Start with headaches. Begin by describing where the pain originates from. Then describe the headaches. Explain how you don't sleep.

1033336 tn?1252509731 The characteristic feature of Fibromyalgia is a muscle pain mostly in neck, back, thighs, and hips. There is presence of specific tender points in these areas that trigger the pain. Along with this there is morning stiffness in the muscles, brain fog, dizziness and other neurological symptoms. Since you are suffering from pain specifically located at the joints, and it started after the flu, the pains are related to the viral infection.
