Fibromyalgia pain worse at night

Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia pain worse at night

Avatar n tn A satellite myofascial point is a highly irritable spot in a muscle that becomes inactive because the muscle is in the region of another trigger pain. The pain of fibromyalgia is generalized, occurring above and below the waist and on both sides of the body. On the other hand, myofascial pain is more often described as occurring in a more limited area of the body, for example, only around the shoulder and neck, and on only one side of the body. Take care and regards !
Avatar n tn I have been having chest pain for quite some time now. For the past 2 weeks it comes & goes. It is worse sometimes (it varies from day to day) when I eat, when I exercise, when I get too stressed, when I get hot & when I lie down. It is like a sharp nagging pain in the middle of my rib cage sometimes lasting more than a few minutes. I have always also had problems with shortness of breath & dizziness. I am also tired all the time.
358486 tn?1294779988 Aches, cold makes worse, muscles hurt all over, pressure points. Hard to wear a bra my irritates me so bad. At night I have princess and the pea syndrome. Even a wrinkle in my sheets can set it off. Lyrica does help some, but beware of the weight gain it can cause if you're not careful. I also have degenerative disc disease, degenerative osteoarthritis, and type 2 diabetes. Making my body an all-inclusive ache. Find a good rheumatologist who specialises in fibro.
Avatar f tn Sleep is essential especially for fibromyalgia or any type of pain. If you can get 6 hours minimum you can better deal with the pain. Have you ever had a sleep study? I requested one and I have sleep apnea. I also take trazadone. It is an older sleep medication that is taken at bedtime. You and your doctor can decide if taking something would help. To me your top list would be your headaches, not sleeping and pain.
1033336 tn?1252509731 It did help to ease the pain but was not complete. Following then onwards, I have experince pain trobbing at the back, in between the joint of knees, in between the hip joint, upper and lower both of the legs, at the joints of the arms, in between fingers, at the palm of hands and feet. Am i suffering from fibromyalgia? Do i need to do a full body check-up for diagnosis?
710094 tn?1229312306 They're still not at a normal stage, though, and I will still feel the pain in my right kidney from time to time. Don't put this off. See your doctor and find out what the source of the nausea and vomiting is!
Avatar n tn i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few months ago and i've been monitoring some of my symptoms but would like to see if anyone else has the same problems. every month when it's that time of the month is when everything gets the worse for me. my eyes are dryer, skin, mouth everything. migranes flare up, numbness in the face & i have trouble sleeping. it starts right before my period maybe about a week or a week and a half before and ends maybe a few days after the last day of my period.
Avatar m tn Yes I have the worst pain at night when I am inactive! I can wake up from the pain in my muscles and joints! My fibro brings about a flare often. Now I find after getting a block walked with my dog and my lower back pain is excruciating! I also have problems with IBS-C. I know for a fact fibromyalgia exists! ITs a tough thing to deal with too! Good luck to you!
Avatar n tn I've been having left leg pain - only at night. The pain is dull, nagging pain throughout my entire leg that doesn't go away with a massage or moving around. This pain has been bothering me after I had a baby. However, before I was pregnant, my legs falls asleep while I'm asleep. When I get up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, I would fall flat on my face. I'm not sure if these two correlated, but thought I should mention it. Any info would be appreciated!
Avatar n tn I listen to a lot of loud high energy rock to help me focus on work and keep my mind off pain at night. If the pain from one thing gets out of control, it pushes my FM pain upward too.
Avatar f tn Hi, Can you be diagnosed with Fibromyalgia but only experience pain at night? Every night about 20 minutes after I lay down my body aches on the side I am laying on. It starts to ache and throb so bad that I need to switch sides. Then the other side aches and throbs so I flip-flop all night long but never really get relief. I feel like I am 100 years old when I try to turn from one side to the other.

Avatar n tn I had bursitis or tendinitis or whatever in both my greater trocanter (all over the place) and SI joints. I treated it with ultrasound and got about 80% improvement with pain at rest and more function. You can buy a machine off the internet for less that $250.
1073473 tn?1257844249 As far as trying to alleviate symptoms- make sure you have a good mattress to sleep on at night and a good pillow. Don't sleep on more than one pillow and don't bunched it up. I purchased one of those a tempurpedic mattresses- It's wonderful! They also have tempurpedic pillows too! As far as medication goes, and I am no doctor of course, but anti-seizure meds like Lyrica and Neurontin can be very effective for nerve tingling and pain for some people.
209591 tn?1267418314 Many times the cats (5) don't go out and stay in the house at night. When Frieda says in she bugs me at night until I let her out at 4 am. I just woke up myself after a good nap. Sleep sure gets screwy with this stuff. It seems I do sleep better now that I have the Lyrica, just want this fatigue to go away, so I can do something, besides lay around. I need to ask my dr. about that drug.
Avatar f tn I posted my intro here yesterday, so I won't go into all my details, but after 2-3 years of odd symproms and random/chronic muscle pain my neurologist has suggested that I have fibromyalgia. She said I should discuss it with my famil doctor at my next appt, which is in July. Both doctors have run me through countless tests to rule out other neuro and autoimmune diseases including MS. My family doctor really felt like I may be depressed.
Avatar m tn For the past four months I have had a burning prickling sensation that travels all over my body. It is always somewhere and worse at night. It is really bad on my left shin and as of today I'm wincing a lot. Going to a neurologist but am not hopeful. I also take omneprazole for acid reflux and do have both stress and mild anxiety. At this point only this weird pain is causing any anxiety. Also have fatigue..that just got really severe along with this pain.
1839746 tn?1318550406 Now I feel burning pain near my neck, head, hip region and legs. It is worse than before. I ham on complete rest for the past 2 months. Does ozone really work??? what is happening in my case??
291885 tn?1404896807 Hi chel, I just saw your post and I can relate. I have been having heart palps, anxiety, and it seems to occur mostly at night. I went hyper recently, so now I am having to wait for all that to get out of my system. Being patient is not an easy thing to do. I have gotten so sick, that all I can do is lay around. I have been doing research to see what causes this, and I have not come up with anything yet. Hope you are doing better..........
1943833 tn?1349280189 I have wondered often over the last few years if I have Fibromyalgia, but have never asked a doctor about it because I don't seem to have the tender points. I'm wondering how many of these symptoms are "common" for fibromyalgia. Or maybe CFS? -occasional severe sensitivity to noise. I can be sitting in a room, with people around me and noises I would normally not mind (kids playing, etc) will "hurt". I don't really have a headache, and it's not an actual pain.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response-Yes at least I am not falling asleep at my desk anymore or at dinner in the middle of a conversation! Getting a proper delta sleep has improved my muscular pain-not that I don't have the pain anymore but it is not as exruciatingly painful now. Its great to hear you have a new doctor who seems to be giving you all the right messages. I have a great relationship with my rheumatologist ever since she said to me "Look at me Mary, look at me straight into my eyes.
5682570 tn?1372290919 Do you experience weight gain , fatigue, itchiness (already established), muscle cramping, joint pain? Have you ever been tested for Hypothyroid? (also linked often to iron deficiencies.) Have you been having G/I and digestive issues? All of the above may be interconnected, but with the limited information I have and without a clinical examination, this would be my best guess. Here is the FMS-Itchiness connection from my perspective.
681148 tn?1437665191 I myself am not certain if the pain is actually worse at night. But I DO know that if I do not take my medication at night, and if I do not take Ambien (up to 20 mg just to knock me out for 4 hours), I lie there and cannot think of anything but the pain. Personally, to just lie there in the dark, everything seems bigger and more frightening. The pain seems more intense, but if I get up and watch TV, it feels like it subsides. Just my thoughts on it...
Avatar n tn At first I didn't really think about it, but the pain got worse and worse over the next week or so. I went to my Doctor to see if she could figure out what was causing this pain. She did a few things in her office and said that i had Fibromyalgia(keep in mind that she never took blood at that point). She then gave me a prescription for OxyContin 20mgs three times a day and 15mgs of OxyCodone immmediate release for breakthrough pain.
Avatar n tn I can relate to your problem as most of my pain is also at night. Sometimes it begins right after i lay down and other times i can go to sleep but once I change positions it begins.I have had multiple damage tomy back over the years. Scoliosis, in several wrecks including a Pick Up fliping over on top of me, L4 back surgery and diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I now sting and burn from my spine around to my ribs. If I do anything repetitive it is just that much worse.
554442 tn?1221238825 Fibro does not cause joint pain or swelling. The pain from Fibromyalgia is produced in the soft tissues of the body, including the muscles and tendons. Question: Why Don't NSAIDs Work for Fibromyalgia Pain? Why don't pain relievers like Motrin, Advil and Aleve work against the pain of fibromyalgia? Answer: It's a common misconception that fibromyalgia is an inflammatory or rheumatological condition, but it is not.
