1399618 tn?1286469531 He is on meds' for his back issues' oxy's and endocet however this doesn't seem to touch the pain area in his joints other than his back. He has had severe weight gain, tingling in fingers', hands etc. Often complains of headache. The pain killers' hes' on just dont' work on all of these points I have listed. He could sleep 24/7 if you let him. He will sit at the pc and fall asleep. Could it be that some nerve is again relevant to his pain or are these actual signs' of fibromyalgia.

Avatar f tn I do not have muscle pain or weakness, in fact I use my muscles to manage my lower back pain. None of the medications the doctor gave me for fibromyalgia are working to relieve my pain. And I keep getting this painful attacks of pleurisy.
Avatar n tn I frst experienced Upper back pain from may 08 - mid septemberr 08. I am not 100 % why I had the pain. I saw every doctor imagineable (orthopedist, rheumatologist, acupuncturist, physiatrist, myofascial trigger point therapist, massage therapists) Not much helped but it went away towards the end of september) My only symptoms were upper back pain. The muscles were very tight and knotted.I was not fatigued and sleeping was not an issue.
Avatar n tn Is this pain in your lower back and do you have any sciatic pain? You may want to search piriformis syndrome and see if any of that sounds familiar. You say you are a runner--do you stretch properly before and after? Has anyone searched or can you feel any sore spots (lumpy) when pressed? I am referring to trigger points. These are not the same as tender points that are related to fibromyalgia. These trigger points can be extremely painful and can form in almost any muscle.
Avatar n tn There are tranquilizers or hypnotics that you can talk with your doctor about that can help you get a better night's sleep. The big question is, Is the Savela helping your pain from Fibromyalgia? If so, then also ask, Have a tried the gauntlet of other meds out there to see if they help with my pain as well without the side effect of insomnia?
Avatar f tn fibromyalgia. severe pain under left rib. I was cleaning my kitchen bin and felt a searing pain under mt left rib, at the side. I'm now bed bound, unable to move without screaming in pain. Pain meds, including morphine, don't help. I have slipped discs in my lower back as well. It hurts when I breath. What could be the cause of the extreme pain I'm in? Having slept on my right side last night, I now have extreme shoulder pain. I do have a memory foam mattress.
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia ,for about 16 yrs..hydrochodone helps so much with the symptoms. I've tried to go off it several times but either wasn't successful or went back on it due to fibromyalgia symptoms . Now I'm needing more and more taking 4-6 daily just to function . I don't know what to do. my daughter is a nurse and says that I also have to be true to myself and the pain I suffer. But I feel like I'm in "such a trap" and I hate it! Any one have any advice for me?
997519 tn?1251243449 I started having a tingling pain on my arm. It climbed to my hand and back to my arm. Then moved to my legs. I want to know if this is fibro.
Avatar f tn Find a doctor that will work with you to ease the pain. Find one that believes fibromyalgia is real. It is easier in this day and age to do so. A few short years ago, not so much. My doctor (a few years back) looked at me like I had a mental condition when I told him my skin hurts. Finding a shower head that didn't feel like piercing needles was a task, but finally figured that out. It is hard to explain pain.
Avatar f tn Hi, uk 2, thank you very much for writing me back. I will try to find a pain management doctor. I have not tried the fentanal patches, the only patches that they gave me were called lidocaine patches, but they do not help me at all. Is the morning the worst time for all of you.? I can barely move and in so much burning pain in the morning.
Avatar n tn I have Fibromyalgia and also have been experiencing noticable tender lumps on my ribs w/ extreme acid reflux/indegestion burning pain, severe abdominal/back/leg pain and now severe migranes. I'm not sure if this is just how this illness goes or if we are a couple of the really unlucky ones. I've had almost every test out there and there's one thing I can recommend, get a thoracic MRI- they will require x-rays first however.
Avatar f tn I like you had all the tests, MRIs never showed the excruiating shoulder blade pain I was living with or the bone crushing lower back pain, i have the gamut of symptoms sciatic pain, the joint stiffness, the lack of sleep, skin sensitivity, headaches, leg weakness. Let my story be a tale of caution to you as you navigate finding out what is causing your pain.
Avatar f tn This doesn't really sound much like fibromyalgia pain - that pain is typically widespread and not just in one area (although certain areas can feel worse at times than other areas). It also usually affects both sides of the body pretty equally. It sounds more like maybe a shoulder injury (have you fallen or stretched your shoulder at all? heavy lifting?) I could also be a pleuritic type pain (inflammation of the area around the lungs).
Avatar f tn neck, shoulders, upper back, lower back, hips, chest, breast bone (especially to the sides of it), left arm, abdomen Muscles are tender when I touch them, especially arms and thighs Hypoglycemia Weight Gain I've had heart tests, stomach tests, blood tests. Nothing shows up. I'm getting very frustrated and discouraged! Does this sound like it could be fibromyalgia? My only "tender spots" that react for me are my elbows, hips and inner knees (not as painful as hips and elbows).
1033336 tn?1252509731 The characteristic feature of Fibromyalgia is a muscle pain mostly in neck, back, thighs, and hips. There is presence of specific tender points in these areas that trigger the pain. Along with this there is morning stiffness in the muscles, brain fog, dizziness and other neurological symptoms. Since you are suffering from pain specifically located at the joints, and it started after the flu, the pains are related to the viral infection.
Avatar n tn I have fibromyalgia and was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia after many years of suffering with severe pain. I still have pain all the time. It is hard to get of bed some days.
Monster ### FIBROMYALGIA SYMPTOMS Pain — The primary symptom of fibromyalgia is widespread (diffuse), chronic, and persistent pain. The pain may be described as a deep muscular aching, soreness, stiffness, burning, or throbbing. Patients may also feel numbness, tingling, or unusual “crawling” sensations in the arms and legs.
Avatar n tn Although there is no cure for fibromyalgia, home treatment can relieve some of the symptoms. Fibromyalgia pain is muscle pain and the most important therapy for muscle pain is regular, gentle and low-impact exercise. It keeps muscles conditioned and healthy and decreases the amount of discomfort. It is very important to try low-stress exercises such as walking, swimming, water aerobics, and biking rather than straining exercises such as weight training. Heavy exercises worsen the symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hello all, about a month ago I woke up with a stiff lower back. Since then I been having random pains , it's so hard to explain. Most pains are dull and it could be in my leg, shins, ankles ,feet. I remember one night my feet was burning so bad. Sometimes it's a tingling sensation. Lately theres been pain in the upper extremities, most pains come and go . It last for a second that goes somewheres else.

Avatar f tn i think im actually getting use to everything but the pain. theres times my pain is so bad i just cant hardly take it and although my doctor has me on pain med. it doesnt work so great all the time. i dont even know what to tell myself anymore. goodluck!
Avatar m tn My son is 14 and has been suffering for a year. Symptoms started with very bad chest pain but all blood results came back clear. An endoscopy revealed mild acid reflux. After the endoscopy we were given the diagnosis of chronic fatigue / fibromyalgia . Having been initially relieved that we finally had a diagnosis we are now starting to think differently. Once you have been tarred with this brush it would appear the doctors are not interested.
Avatar f tn It started out feeling like my bones were aching then i started to have pain in my left leg , shoulders, neck and back. And paresthesia in my left arm. I went to the emergency room and the doctor and was told it was sciatica and tense muscles probsbly from stress.. after about 3 weeks of this the leg pain and paresthesia went away but i was still having neck and back pain, headaches, muscle twitches . Now i just started having those same symptoms in my rifht side.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctors in February with horrible muscle pain in my legs and arms. He did a b-12 which i was low a few months back. Came in with arm pain and not feeling good. He also checked my thyroid and D levels. My thyroid was off a few months ago also but is fine now. But the D test came back low. In the mean time I couldn't take it and went to the rhemy whom I just saw in Janurary.
358486 tn?1294779988 this leads to Fibromyalgia, but not in all the cases, of course. It is also noted that those who complain of more pain after the surgery, have more chance of developing fibromyalgia. One more reason thought to be implicated in post surgery fibromyalgia is ..... the neck is hyper-extended while doing the intubation and this constitutes a neck injury! Hope that helps.
Avatar n tn For the last year and a half I have been having a lot of issues with the fibromyalgia. Back in August of 07 I started stumping, loosing my balance and falling. Back in October I fell and broke my right leg. My question is loosing your balace, falling, etc. part of the fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn My sed rate is also high but RA and Lupus test came back negative. Doew this sound like arthritus or fibromyalgia? Any comments would be greatly appreciated This discussion is related to fibromyalgia with inflamation.
Avatar m tn Gatell (also in Atlanta). He is a quack. Now I am just back with my GP who manages the pain meds and anxiety. There just seems no where to go from here. I am so tired of doctors and treatments and different things to try. I am mentally and physically spent. I am now on adderall to help me wake and stay awake so I can perform tasks during the day but I always am in pain!
