Fibromyalgia and tooth pain

Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia and tooth pain

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn Is there a connection between fibromyalgia and the ability to manage dental pain during procedures? I had to have some cavities taken care of last week - the dentist had to do four rounds of novacaine in addition to the topical analgesic and it had no effect on the nerves. He even gave me the maximum amount that could be administered. I'm also curious if there is a link between tooth decay and fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn Has anyone with chronic and active lyme experienced this horrible teeth and facial and jaw pain. I know one person described me exactly, even severe ear pain, all seeming to stem from my teeth issues. I'll try to keep posted on what will eventually work. I still have hope. I am a critical care nurse and work in the intergrative field as well now. So far traditional medicine is not the answer for me.
Avatar f tn Myofascial Pain and Fibromyalgia are not the same thing, and if I am reading this right you apparently think that they are. That said, neither one commonly affects the teeth. There are neuropathic pain states that affect the mouth but these are variants of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (also called RSD in the past) and are treated with procedures and drugs that decrease Sympathetic Nervous System Activity.
Avatar f tn 25yo w/sle & fibromyalgia When working on one of my teeth (#12), my dentist said I may need a root canal. The tooth didn't really bother me until last Friday (3 months later). It felt like the tooth was stabbing me in the jaw with a knife. The tooth and jaw both hurt, from the joint to the nose and went as high up as the cheek bone. The pain was so bad, I couldn't do anything but lie in bed. I tried pain medication, Oragel, and everything else people suggested.
Avatar m tn If your extensive dental treatment were rendered for left side facial pain and pain was not relieved, you may have a condition known as atypical odontalgia. Seeing an Orofacial pain specialist is advised.
Avatar n tn yeah i have tooth pain and sinus pain. I went to the doctor and she took my blood, see how it goes from there. thank you.

390388 tn?1279636213 My mom had that too and I know is very painful. My husband needs both knees replaced and has Charcot-Marie-Tooth very bad and suffers dearly from the wasting. I feel for you. I know how I feel with my pains and spasms in my knees. I can't imagine a knee sx. concerning the pains. Please take care. I've been privately praying for you on this. Take care. Thank you all again. I'm feeling better tonight....knock on wood.
Avatar f tn I don’t know if it’s my tooth, my neck or my shoulder causing this but its miserable not being able to lie down without this tooth swelling and hurting. I don’t have money to go see a dentist, the Doctor I have doesn’t listen and I can’t go to anyone else. I am to the point of pulling the tooth myself to see if I can get relief, even though I don’t believe it’s the tooth. Three to 4 years of this is 3 to 4 years to long. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do?

673940 tn?1232411764 Pain quality and temporal pattern of tn and tmd are generally different. In addition, it's generally considered that if tegretol can not relieve tn, then it's not tn.It appears that you are fibromyalgia sufferer, multidiscipline team approach is probably required to manage your chronic pain.If an orofacial pain or tmj specialist is included in the team, you probably would benefit more.

Avatar n tn I do have a cap on the left canine...but I still have feeling in that gun area. I suffer from Fibromyalgia and have had quite a few root canals and crowns due to the pulp area NEVER calming down after dental work. My dentist {who is a family friend...feels this is a neuralgia problem and could last for weeks or could be gone tomorrow. He feels the nerve endings are aggravated. Why I haven't a clue. I am concerned that the numbness is spreading. he says the gum tissues look good.
Avatar n tn I have been dealing with chronic back pain for to long, so when I woke up with this new pain it really scared me. I told my pain mgt. about it she really didn't say much about it. This only happened to me the one night, Thank you for the information I really appreciate it.
Avatar n tn You should not be in pain and the tooth should be looked at. I do not know how badly broken down the tooth is, but I would be concerned that you take the chance of fracturing the tooth and the possibility that it would have to be extracted. I am more concerned that you have no discomfort before you restore the tooth.
Avatar n tn HE PUTS LOUD MUSIC AND MAKES LOUD SOUNDS OF A SHIP HORN AND PUTS THOSE SOUNDS THROUGH A MICROPHONE, WAKES ME UP AND MY HEAD IS POUNDING WITH PAIN. CAN HIS NOISE AFFECT MY FM? CAUSE I GET WORST WHEN HE STRESSES ME OUT WITH THAT AWFUL SOUNDS HE MAKES.
Avatar n tn I have SLE Lupus so I have had symptoms I believe are related to that, arthritis, joint pain, fatigue to name a few. I originally went to see the ENT because I had swelling from my upper jaw down the side of my neck. I was pretty sure it was a tooth that had been capped the previously year since that's when it all started but wanted to rule out anything else. She said it was probably lupus related and suggested I get physical therapy.
Avatar f tn Before i had a tooth pulled i was getting pain and it was going in to the tooth next to the the tooth that was sore. 4 days ago i got it pulled and i am still getting toothache from the tooth next to the one i have had pulled and also my gum where the tooth has been pulled is really sore feels as though i have been punched in the mouth. I have recently been getting really hot and sweaty. I have been taking painkillers but they really are not helping.
Avatar f tn This can happen if you are under stress etc and believe you me it causes allot of pain like you are describing. I used to get the pains in the right side of my face, ear and temple. My doctor prescribed Ativan for night for one week and the pain disapeared. Have a chat with your GP. Take care.
Avatar n tn The next day while brushing with warm water it hit the tooth with the crown. AND MORE TEARS That pain then affected my whole left side. The today(7/8) the pain has been centralized with the molar that has the crown. The tooth is sensitive to biting and touching. It also looks a little swollen What could have the dentist missed? Where is the pain really coming from?
Avatar n tn He applied that cool gel to the crowned tooth and to the teeth in the front and back of the crowned tooth to check the nerves. I felt no pain. Of course the crowned tooth felt no sensation because of the root canal that was done on it. He poked around the ridges and gumline and no breaks or leaks were evident. The dentist said this was a real enigma. The first month the crown was on it felt perfect. I get a quick pulsating pain, and itchy feeling around the crown. Near the gums.
Avatar n tn one side of my face has been hurting for about a month now with my one side of my throat and eye whats wrong with me im 21 and this is the first time this has happened to me i cant even open my mouth all the way help!
Avatar f tn Allodynia is a clinical feature of many painful conditions, such as neuropathies, complex regional pain syndrome, postherpetic neuralgia, fibromyalgia, and even migraines. Some types of sensory neuropathies occur and progress very slowly, others sort of wax and wane (with flare-ups) and some are progressive.
573297 tn?1304709140 Does anyone have both dx and yet their pdoc doesn't believe them? I got diagnosed like 8 years ago I think (kind of don't remember...the exact time) but now this year I get dx of bipolar and my pdoc doesn't believe I have fibromyalgia...I know I have the pain....and it feels like it is coming back, and if so this is the fourth flare up (one lasting two years, one lasting 6 months to a year, one was three months because of the depo-provera shot) what do I do to get taken seriously?
