Monster Multiple muscle groups may eventually become involved, with most patients experiencing pain in the neck, middle and lower back, arms and legs, and chest wall. These areas feel painful with even slight pressure and are called tender points (figure 1). Many patients with fibromyalgia feel that their joints are swollen, although there is no visible inflammation of the joints (arthritis). ### FIBROMYALGIA TESTS — There are no specific laboratory or imaging tests used to diagnose fibromyalgia.
1184051 tn?1264438908 I've been having neuropathic issues like itching/burning/numbness/headaches/pins & needles. I see a rheumatologist for Lupus &/or RA and when I told him my symptoms he said they were all due to fibromyalgia. It really made me mad that he wouldn't take them seriously and didn't even want to treat me for fibro. I'm going to press my family doctor to start a treatment regimen.
Avatar f tn I also take Lyrica for nerve pain, Trazadone and Flexeril at night to help with sleep and muscle spasms, and I am on Zoloft and bloodpressure meds. I went a long time with no pain meds then to Tramadol then to Lortab, etc.... I have very high pain levels on a daily basis plus I have a high tolerance to meds so the weaker ones never worked well for me. The meds I am on now help more than anything else ever has and I am so thankful! I still have pain but it is a lot easier to deal with now.
Avatar f tn For my doctor visits before and even now, I write down what I need to ask in advance and prepare a list of any new symptoms and so on (when I think about it) and it helps alot - my appts are much quicker and smoother and I know my dr. appreciates it. Also, Fibromyalgia is new and there are alot in the medical community who think it's a mental disease (which it's not according to the CDC) ask for references for dr's who actually treat the specific diagnosis and start there.
1033336 tn?1252509731 I also have nerve damage and shooting pain and numbness in my legs. I take hydrocodone for the pain and am also on lyrica. The lyrica does help keep my legs from jerking uncontrollably but I now also have pain in my knees, hips, back, neck, shoulders. and jaw. My muscles are extremely tight all the time. I take flexoral 3 times a day but it doesn't seem to help. My doctor now thinks I have some type of myofacial disorder.
358486 tn?1294779988 One more reason thought to be implicated in post surgery fibromyalgia is ..... the neck is hyper-extended while doing the intubation and this constitutes a neck injury! Hope that helps.
Avatar n tn I got on some more sites and read alot about B-12 (and its different forms). Lots of people with fibromyalgia report numbness and tingling like feelings and I saw where the B vitamins have helped them. I used to take alot of vitamins but as I began other programs I limitted what I took so that my clinical picture was more clear. I also read where most people have a normal blood level of B-12 and folate but the vitamin, whether oral, or sl or inj. really helped.
Avatar n tn i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few months ago and i've been monitoring some of my symptoms but would like to see if anyone else has the same problems. every month when it's that time of the month is when everything gets the worse for me. my eyes are dryer, skin, mouth everything. migranes flare up, numbness in the face & i have trouble sleeping. it starts right before my period maybe about a week or a week and a half before and ends maybe a few days after the last day of my period.
2010625 tn?1329375656 Today has been different as I have pain and numbness. It is like everything just feels like pressure. I also have anxiety and thought maybe it could be an episode of depersonalization. I am not really sure but the numbness is freaking me out.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone also suffers from numbness of fingers and legs? Also in the summer I have no pain, but as soon as the cold hits, it feels like my bones are being crushed. Is this really fibromyalgia or something else?
Avatar n tn At times the tingling turns into a burning sensation and numbness. I was sent to a neurologist. I had MIRs on my head and upper spine and they both came back fine. The symptoms appear to get worse in the evening and I have had a couple of nights with an upset stomach and hot flashes. Reflexes are normal to slightly diminished and there are no balance issues. There are no vision problems and with the normal MIRs they do not believe it is MS.

Avatar n tn I recently started having periods of facial numbness that would come and go. I can still talk, and feel external stimuli; only I know that it is happening. Now this is happening more often and lasting longer, and has moved from just the right side of my face to the left. I have also experienced some weakness in my arms, particularly on the left side. yesterday, I visited my PCP. I could tell he was concerned when my left leg did not reflexively kick.

Avatar n tn Hi All. (2nd posting sorry I posted in the wrong spot at first) I don't know if I have fibromyalgia so maybe you can all offer some advice. I am 36 year old female. About 8 weeks ago I noticed my left arm was difficult to drive with and it really struck me as beign strange. It felt heavy. I thought it felt weak but looking back 'heavy' is a more accurate term. I went to my dr. who sent me to a neuro. By the time I saw the neuro I was conviced that I had ALS. Convinced.
Avatar n tn the fact that you require B12 supplements you can experience generalized pain, numbness, tingling and other such symptoms. There are many other medical issues that can be induced when your system in severely deficient in B12. I sincerely hope that you will continue to take it as prescribed. It's an important vitamin for health. There are studies that suggest an "event" can trigger fibromyalgia, such as you describe.
Avatar n tn hearing tested, both came back fine. I do have fibromyalgia and suffer with many of the problems that go along with that. I also feel as though I have things crawling on me, but there is nothing there. My feet fall asleep even when I am walking and I often have a twitching in my right eyelid. I am very tired in the evening and often fall asleep before dinner. I have even been having some trouble with tightness in my chest. I have given you all the information I can think of right now.
Avatar f tn Can fibromyalgia be the cause of my symptoms that cycle (recurring fevers, rash, fatigue, pain, blurry vision, and numbness in hands and feet)? I've heard of it being a factor in regard to fatigue and pain, but am unsure about vision, rash, numbness, and especially fevers. Also, I have been diagnosed with MGUS and genetic testing showed a variant in the MEFV gene. Is there any correlation between those diagnoses and fibromyalgia?
Avatar f tn I should also mention I have numbness in my rt hand and rt foot off and on. Is it normal to get both diagnoses at the same time? Could it be because I let things go for so long? Do you think the ms was there 4 yrs ago but with no comparison or other symptom there weren't suspicions for ms? Is it unusual to have both? I do have memory problems, difficulty with my speech( mixing up words) and some difficulty focusing visually on things.
Avatar n tn I have been testing for leg numbness, tingling, stiffness, itching, aching and at one point total paraylasis in my right leg for 10 weeks. I have had many tests. It has also affected my bowels and urination. I could not do either. Now I do it without much feeling. My neurologist gave up and turned me over to my Doctors office where I only see the PA. He is sending me back to work to see how I do. He does not have any diagnosis. I have a history of back problems.
Avatar f tn Many individuals with other liver diseases do not suffer the pain seen in hepatitis C. And there is a high prevalence of fibromyalgia in hepatitis C patients; this is important for clinicians to appreciate, as the recognition of fibromyalgia in patient with hepatitis C will prevent assumptions of pain being due to liver disease—and perhaps allow for a more focused and correct treatment approach.

5682570 tn?1372290919 ACV (apple cider vinegar) diluted with water for the scalp may help , but do a test on a small area first, just in case you react. For the tingling and numbness on your nose and perhaps the itchiness as well, check out the following possibilities: 1. Low iron, low potassium, low magnesium, low B vitamins. Need to be tested for nutritional and mineral deficiencies (CBC) and tissue analysis for minerals. 2. Stress levels. 3. Fungal overgrowth/candida. You may do a preliminary self-test.
