Avatar n tn Hi there, Nexium can cause musculoskeletal side effects like arthralgia, aggravation of arthritis, arthropathy, cramps, fibromyalgia syndrome, hernia, hypertonia, polymyalgia rheumatica, and back pain. It should be avoided in people with osteopenia or decreased bone density. These effects are usually seen after a prolonged use of this drug. It is best to contact a healthcare professional for more queries. Best wishes and regards!

Avatar n tn There are many conditions that can cause these symptoms such as SLE, psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia, polymayalgia rheumatica and chronic fatigue syndrome, gout though typically affects the great toe, can cause multiple joint pain with rash, Hashimotos Thyroiditis, hayfever and rheumatoid arthritis. Another possibility is reactive arthritis, which could have occurred in reaction to something—in this case rash. In this case you need to rule out the cause for the hives or urticaria.
Avatar f tn Other important causes could be polymyositis(a type of inflammatory myopathy or muscle inflammation) or fibromyalgia(Fibromyalgia (FM) is a disorder classified by the presence of chronic widespread pain and tactile allodynia i.e heightened and painful response to gentle touch) In your case it can be due to fibromyalgia. Antidepressant drugs have been used frequently to treat fibromyalgia. Amitriptyline and Fluoxetine have been used to treat fibromyalgia.
Avatar n tn It could also be something like fibromyalgia. Check the fibro board and see if the symptoms fit. I have this disease and frequently feel this way. Do you have specific areas of pain or just general aches?
Avatar n tn currently, i've been experiencing widespread muscle aches & pain. i had tests done for arthritis, rf factor, ana-sedimentation rate, and all were normal. i had cbc bllodwork done 2mos ago . everything is normal. i have no muscle weakness. i had cdiff, about 2 mos ago. does an negative ana & rf rule out lupus & rhuematoid arthritis, or could this be fibromyalgia?
Avatar n tn Important ones that need to be ruled out are fibromyalgia ,chronic fatigue syndrome, polymyositis, polymyalgia rheumatica, muscular dystrophy, diabetes, osteoarthritis, deranged potassium levels and CVA. Complete physical examination along with investigations like EKG,electrocardiography,ESR blood, platelet count Rheumatoid factor, creatine kinase, electromyography and muscle biopsy may be needed to make a diagnosis.Pls consult a physician for that. Hope it helps.
Avatar n tn Well, joint pains with rash can be seen in SLE (lupus), psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia, polymayalgia rheumatica and chronic fatigue syndrome. Gout, though typically affects the great toe, can cause multiple joint pain with rash. Hashimotos Thyroiditis is another possibility. Hayfever and rheumatoid arthritis too should also be ruled out. Crohn’s disease is another possibility. Of these you have been diagnosed with RA, but other conditions should be ruled out. Take care!

Avatar n tn I have polyrheumatica and so did my sister, It is no fun and is very hard to tell if it is the fibromyalgia or the PMR.
Avatar n tn Polymyalgia rheumatica is an inflammatory disorder while fibromyalgia is not. The steriods should have given great relief. Did you discontinue them on your doctors advice or on your own? If you discontinued the treatment to early your symptoms may reappear. Also, the steroids may be something that you need to stay on in order to control your illness. This could be determined by your physician. Could you have fibro too?
