Avatar f tn This is not a drug to live on. I was on both fentanyl and dilaudid at very similar doses. I tapered the fentanyl until my dosage was low enough to switch entirely to an oral opiate. Then I tapered until I reached 100 mg oxy and 40 mg dilaudid. When I got there I jumped cold turkey. It was by no means pleasant but the acute physical w/d's were like a very bad flu and lasted around a week. The other stuff took about 3 weeks. By a month I felt almost normal except for sleep.
Avatar f tn I have been on fentanyl for 3 years d/t bone pain, last year I had a nerve ablation on my lower back(L4/5 S1. Ever since I had this nerve ablation I don't have bone pain anymore. Was on Fentanyl 100mcg due to bone pain. I find out now that Fentanyl is not helping anymore. My Doc wants me to try and titrate down on Fentanyl,I had asked him and he suggests that I should start from 100mcg to 75 then to 50 and then to 25mcg. What would be your suggestion? Please say some prayers my way..
Avatar m tn Based on the information presented, I do not recommend for you to try the proposed treatment plan. Unlike Opana, fentanyl patch does not work immediately after applying it. It may take 1 to 3 days to see full effect. Fentanyl patch is not for short-term switch like how you are proposing. Please consult your pain specialist and pharmacist to optimize your medical therapy without causing more harm to your body. Sincerely, For more detail information, please go to: 1.
Avatar m tn i currently wear fentanyl 100mcg patch, exchange in 48 hrs, and taking 4 30mg roxicodone daily. would oxycontin work better than the medications i currently take?
Avatar f tn Within 24 hous you should begin to feel tje fentanyl working, and after a day or two after you apply the 2nd patch, the level of fentanyl in your system will stablize. You can do a couple of things to make sure the patch is working. First, make sure that patch is properly applied and second, acquire the covers for the patch. Information about proper application of tjeeethe patch and the covers is is on the patient information you should have received with the medication.
Avatar m tn My shoulder was put back together with a titanium plate and 9 screws, and after 3 months of agonizing pain, my surgeon sent me to a pain clinic, who put me on Fentanyl. 6 months later, I went to go see a second surgeon who went in with a scope and found (and fixed) what was causing my pain. Two bone spurs, arthritis, and missing cartalidge. I tapered from 100 mics to 50 mics, and then instead of going to 25 told him I wanted it done.
Avatar f tn Fentanyl (Transdermal, Transbuccal, Transmucosal, Sublingual) Norfentanyl 4-N-(N-propionylanilino) piperidine 4-N-(Nhydroxypropionylanilino) piperidine 1-(2-phenethyl)-4-N-(Nhydroxypropionylanilino) piperidine So are neither opiates showing up in your UDS - or just the Fentanyl? If it's the Fentanyl then your physician may just need some education is reading Fentanyl UDS results. It's not your other medications that are influencing the results of your UDS.

Avatar n tn im in detox from fentanyl. my dr. prescribed wellbutrin for 30 days. I was on 50 mg so I was given 25mg and wore the patch for 4 to 5 days before putting on a new one. after my last patch I started on xanax for withdrawls symtoms and put on a catapress patch. this worked real well and I feel like im starting to feel good. there are times my skin hurts and muscles hurt so that's where the xanax helps. I had neck surgery to replace a blown disc and know what pain is like.
Avatar f tn i have ben on the fentanyl patch quite awhile 100mg and have gone down to 50 mg, my health ended and my last patch ends in 4 days and im scared.
Avatar m tn Due to many neck and back chronic pain issues, my doctor prescribed me these 50 mcg Fentanyl patches to be changed every 72 hours. I was heavily addicted to Percocet and Opanas for several years so I thought this would really help me out. I have been on them about 3 months now and my health insurance has just been canceled. I have 3 of the patches left and need to know what to do to wean off and then stop them completely.
Avatar m tn Fentanyl can be very difficult to come off. The withdrawals seem to be harsher and last longer than other opioids. But you are lucky to only be at 12 mg over 4 weeks. Did your doctor have you on something else before he put you on the Fentanyl? I ask that because Fentanyl isn't normally used as a first-line drug for pain. If you were on something else, that would factor into your withdrawal. You can read lots of withdrawal hints over on the Substance Abuse forum.
Avatar f tn Just thinking about after answering my last post about nurses that are continually providing inaccurate information. My pmp nurse Erin told me three times that the prescription that my pmp dr. had written was for 22 days, when I knew it was for 30 days. It's just another one of those mis information that is being continually provided in that office.
Avatar f tn Due to medical problems I have been on pain medication for at least 30 years, I am 60 at this time, 5 weeks ago had 2nd knee replacement, I have tried many times to get off Methadone, I usually run out before prescription is due and suffer severe w/d. Like everyone else I do not want to be tied to this drug, it is the worse, I have been on it about 5 years.
Avatar f tn I am wondering if anyone on high doses of fentanyl 175mcg for extreme pain has died going cold turkey and this doesn't mean the side effects which are like death so i have read. Or has anyone who used fentanyl for extreme pain committed suicide due to the withdrawal.
Avatar m tn My wife has been perscribed fentanyl patches and has been told not to eat grapefruit, does this apply to all citrus fruit ie.
1326023 tn?1274867436 My current pain management I know is a liar, because for one thing when I asked him about 3 years ago, what 300 milligrams of morphine to take every day is equal to in a fentanyl patch he told me that it would be at least 100 or 110 and that he would have to look it up in his charts to see exactly what it is. when,I last seen him,he showed me me in his computer that being prescribed 300 milligrams of morphine a day is equal to only 75 micrograms of a fentanyl patch.

Avatar f tn I've been taking 20mgs of paxil and my psycholigist wanted me to stop after taking it for month. I've been taking 25 mcgs fentanyl for a month now i'm trying to go cold turkey, but i've been on paxil before and had no problem with withdraws maybe cuz it was only ten mgs. The symptons never afected me this way . It could be the fentanyl as well but i was'nt as bad before I started these.
Avatar f tn I've been on fentanyl patches for about three years now, due to a chronic vascular disease. I started out on a 25 mcg patch every three days, and at some point increased to a 50 mcg patch every three days. For a while now Ive been noticing that on the third day, they day that I'm supposed to change the patch, I start getting terrible withdrawl symptoms. It's worse than any pain I've ever felt. My body gets incredibly restless and I can't stop writhing around.

Avatar m tn Does anyone know if the rapid detox programs work for people who been using Fentanyl 100mcg for 10 plus years. I feel the Fentanyl patches our doing more harm then good. Now I'm having so many issues with the side effects. But the Cronic pain is still a big concern on what to take if I'm able to get off the fentanzl patches. And that's a big if.
Avatar f tn ve tried over the years- I finally decided that I should join after reading some great information on fentanyl patches (which is one of the medications I am on). BTW, my condition is debilitating endometriosis. Thank you all for reading! Again, I obviously realize this is not a question, and I do apologize if this post is not appropriate for this area. I just really wasn't sure where to start...
Avatar m tn s problem, and hope someone can offer us advice, she was prescribed 25mg fentanyl in 2006 for pain from a spinal injury and gradually since then her patch strength has been increased as her condition worsened until she is now prescribed 200mg fentanyl, plus she has oramorph and diazepam on her repeat prescription for breakthrough pain, However during the last two months through sheer grit she has managed to decrease her patch strength without her specialist's help (he told us both last year
