374225 tn?1269899262 There are two types of generic Fentanyl and at least one of you claims that one is superior to the other. Which one is the better of the two? My doctor is probably going to let me try the patches over the methadone and I just want to be sure. It amazes me how much knowledge we all have accumulated and outside of these boards so much of it is wasted. I'm so glad this place exists and I found it.
Avatar m tn m new on here I just switched from fentanyl to methadone and I was wondering which generic was the best, when it came to my fentanyl Duragesic was far and away the best, just trying to get the biggest bang for my buck
Avatar n tn He kindly switched me from the Mylan generic brand of fentanyl patch to the Alvogen generic version. These patches stick perfectly! And they don’t itch! So try asking your pharmacist or doctor to order a generic that sticks very well. My new pharmacy in our new state is Safeway, and Alvogen is their standard generic that they dispenso to anyone without an Rx brand-name patch. Good luck.
Avatar f tn My insurance company recently switched fentanyl from Tier 1 to Tier 3. Their claim is that there are cheaper (to them) drugs available. I use a 100 and 25 patch plus "break out" drugs. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn I would think a good Pharmacy or a Pain Clinic would order them for you. The generic is Oral Transmucosal Fentanyl Citrate (OTFC) and the trademark name is Actiq®, manufactured by Cephalon. I would also check to see if your insurance covers them. I wish you the best...
Avatar n tn I just started using a new brand of generic patches. I am using Alvogen 100 mcg patch x 4 (400 mcg total) every 48 hrs. I just switched from Duragesic brand name (I was getting these through Johnson & Johnson PAP now defunct as of 05/2020)to these this week. I noticed my kidneys were hurting right away. Has anyone had something similar happen?
Avatar m tn I have heard that the generic Fentanyl patches can be rather expensive too. I have confirmed with my doctor that brand oxymorphone indeed works better than generic oxymorphone for the reasons just mentioned. There is also methadone but it has a tendency to build up in your system so dosing is very tricky. If you decide that methadone is a medication you want to explore, be sure that you have a physician that has extra training on how to properly dose and titrate methadone.
Avatar n tn If you use the Mylan generic fentanyl patch that looks like a clear piece of tape rather than the more common gel pouch patch, you can slowly taper by cutting it. I am currently doing that with the approval of my doctor, as is another member here. If you decrease by about 12.5 mcg a month, it's not too terrible. One of the biggest complaints with fentanyl withdrawal is the powerful hot flashes and cold sweats. It happens if you're either over- or under-medicated.
Avatar f tn That was a few weeks ago. I actually came off the Fentanyl due to that as I have trouble with the generic as well.
Avatar f tn Hi, can you call you old doctor and tell him what's going on...he referred this other doctor maybe he can referr a different one.,.that's what I would do..I can't go without my meds either I would die!!! I'm on fentanyl patch and oxy. I never heard of fentanyl spray!!! How does that work? Hope I helped if you need to chat I'm here....
Avatar f tn I am on 12mcg of the fentanyl. I cannot take more than that otherwise I get severe chest pains. The pain clinic dr won't give me anything else says he can't help me if I don't stick with the hydrocodone 10/325 and the fentanyl patch. I have severe neuropathy in my feet and I can't take Lyrica, neurotin or the generic. If I try to go to a different pain clinin then they will think I am just looking for drugs and I'm not I'm looking for some kind of pain relief.
Avatar f tn Hi I answered your other question and am sending the answer on this post as well. I am confused as to why your ins would not want you to be on oxycontin, isn't there a generic? Is this some type of workmen's comp insurance? Sorry just trying to understand. There are many times where an ins co does not pay for a certain drug however will pay if the doctor explains why.
Avatar f tn I have been using the fentanyl patch several years now. For me I had to increase the dosage, I think about ever three years. I am now on the 50 mg patch with meds for break through pain. I do go to a pain management doctor, and it is much better for you to talk to your doctor about the pain not being controlled. Your body becomes tolerant and increased doses are expected. I am surprised your doctor hasn't already increased the dosage after such a long time taking the same pain killer.
1638239 tn?1300404202 m no longer using the Fentanyl patch -- just been off it for about 2 weeks. But, I was using the generic Fentanyl patch from the Watson brand. They would not stay on, so I called the Watson company, they took all my information (I thought they were about to send me some "patch covers"), then they just simply said to use waterproof medical tape on all the edges (not just the corners).
1108166 tn?1260224390 I too am on the Fentanyl Patch50 mcg. What is the dose that ou are on? Are you testing OK for the Fentanyl or is it not showing up either? I don't know much about testing for the Morphine. Is that Saliva Test the ONLY test that he does? Will he give you a UA or a Blood Test instead? Preferably the Blood Test as that is MUCH more accurate.
1219328 tn?1266881841 I have been off fentanyl for 2 weeks and working on weaning off my percs. The last 2 nights I have had the worst restless legs....it keeps me awake and I cant stand it. Has anyone else had this problem?? Any advice of what to do?? thx!
Avatar f tn I'm not a hundred percent sure, but I think Duragesic is the name brand patch. I believe Fentanyl is the generic. Maybe they'll pay for the generic? Or maybe the generic will be significantly less than the name brand. I'm sure someone will be along later that may have more knowledge on this type of situation or maybe your condition.
767538 tn?1276575320 This was originally used with the brand name and they stopped producing them when the generic came out. When I used the patch w/o any covering as I have dry/normal skin I always got a sore ring around where the adhesive was. Was not so when I wore the tegaderm. This is the same covering they use when you get an iv. To nomoremeth. If you want.. try all 3 methods listed above and see which one works for you!! Be sure not to get your body temp elevated this summer with that on.
Avatar m tn ve held onto a used patch to wear one for appearances, but worry about Fentanyl not showing up in urine. I just opened my last patch and have 10 days before next refil. Would ingesting or chewing a piece be enough to have a positive urine test? How quickly does Fentanyl show in the urine? My previous tests have not been a problem because I've had 'accepted level' of Fentanyl....though I don't know what that is.
