I had an emergency trach for 4 weeks - it was removed 2 weeks ago. Since then I have really great days and then days where breathing seems labored. I was on steroids but am now weaning off of those. It is especially bothersome at night - I try to sleep lying down and sometimes can then other nights I sleep upright in a recliner. Some days my voice is strong, almost normal and others it goes right back to being weak. What is a normal recup time from a trach? Does this sound normal?
I am currently taking Opana ER 30mg /2 TID for long term spinal pain due to breaks and fusions. I am going to try replacing that for a short time with a Fentanyl Patch to see if I have any improvement in Pain Mgmt. I am just wondering what regimen I should use to safely do this. For example. Is it as easy as waiting 12 hrs. after my last Opana ER and then apply the patch (it's a 3 day patch) then take another ER once the 3 days has expired?
ITU admission due to respiratory and renal failure, parotitis, and impaired swallowing after extubation and removal of tracheostomy. Readmitted to ITU for drainage of lung then deteriorated with respiratory failure, AKI,hypertension and intubation WAs treated for Enterobacter infection from ETT, later I developed parotitis and was treated with Antibiotics, this was 10 months ago, and still feeling not perfect, now 75. im in detox from fentanyl. my dr. prescribed wellbutrin for 30 days. I was on 50 mg so I was given 25mg and wore the patch for 4 to 5 days before putting on a new one. after my last patch I started on xanax for withdrawls symtoms and put on a catapress patch. this worked real well and I feel like im starting to feel good. there are times my skin hurts and muscles hurt so that's where the xanax helps. I had neck surgery to replace a blown disc and know what pain is like.
So I am going to post an email my husband and I sent to a Neurologist but have not received anything from him. I am scheduled for emg and other test soon but this is really getting to me. Recently my oncologist of a year at the same clinic that put me on the fentanyl 5 years ago has decided she wants me to go off fentanyl and take methadone instead. I will have to be hospitalized and go through detox for a week, but I havent heard much in the way of assurance that methadone will be able to control the pain I will have again if it doesnt work. I have asked what my options will be and I am told "she doesnt have time to teach me".
A week ago today, i went in for surgery to have half my Thyroid 'removed'. Since then i've had a cough.. Mostly dry but sometimes there is a little bit of something to cough up. Mostly i have that horrible feeling where just breathing out makes me feel like i need to cough! It gets quite bad at night and i'm finding it hard to sleep.. Also, coughing REALLY doesn't feel good after surgery in that area >.
Im getting induced 3weeks early as my little girl has not put on any weight for two scans, also my placenta is working over time and not giving her enough nutrients that she needs. They have re assured that she wil be ok and breathing on her own but Im still very worried that she's gonna have complications. Anyone els experienced anything similar?
