Are there any pathogens of any sort (virus, bacteria, mycoplasma, fungi, etc) that are known to impact hormonal systems? Adrenal, HPA axis, or somehow otherwise affecting neurotransmitters and hormones, either by direct infection of glands or otherwise?
We don't contribute more anxiety by having people test for no reason.
actually i have not done my CMV test since when i go for a check up, the doctor said you do the test for all HIV/HBV/HCV and HSV, along with Bacterial STDs. since i didnt have any symptoms of Ulcers, Discharges etc, i have done all these virus antibody tests by Tridot 3rd Generation adn ELISA which has given Negative results. And i have tested for Treponema by TPHA which was also negative.
hello, i had protected sex with an hiv positive girl (i just discovered), i had sex with her twice, but she gave me several oral sex, i saw some blood on my penis in one of them, from her mouth i think.. i have no symptoms untill now, i did Elisa test 52 days after 1st time and 20 days after last time and today it´s been 2 months since 1st time (the day i saw the blood) and 1 month after our last time.
I went back home for the treatment...and then undergone certain other test...like ANTI HCV (ELISA) ,ANTI HBcAG IGM and ANTI HBcAG IGM (ELISA)....and all kinds of other blood test EXCEPT HIV test....all the other tests came negative......my Hepatitis got cured...after a month...but after getting cured ...now I have dry cough for almost 2-3 weeks now and lots of chest pain and fatiuge.....CAN ALL THIS BE THE SYMPTOMS OF HIV?....AS I NEVER UNDERGONE ANY HIV ELISA TEST...
I was wondering why there shouldn't be only one hiv antibody test that covers at least all the known HIV and all it's subtypes. it makes me crazy when the people go for hiv test and they have absolutely no f* idea there are so many types of hiv like hiv1 hiv 2 hive group o hiv group N , this is insane. i don't understand why the test that don't cover everything even get the permission to come to the market. producers just want to make money no matter what.
do standard, 3rd generation ELISA tests for HIV 1/2 pick up ALL strains of group O? I have heard different opinions, some people thinking that it would, and some people suggesting not. I have read that this test would detect MOST group O infections, but may miss some. I know the genetic makeup of group O is different than group M. So please offer your expert opinion, do I need a more specific test designed to specifically detect group O to completely rule it out? Maybe PCR?
first i`ve made cytology test and it showed that i`ve got hidden infections,then i`ve made a test for chlamidia,ureaplasma,mycoplasma hominis,and HPv,only mycoplasma hominis showed positive result

You can get those "symptoms" from other diseases or viruses, plus in your frightened state you can imagine things are new that were always there before.

I had an intercourse with my wife two weeks ago and after 5 days of it, she started having coloured odourful vaginal discharge which lasted for a few days, this concerned me and i went for a complete blood and urine test to make sure everything was ok with me, all my results on HIV and other STD's came back negative except that of urine culture which showed growth in mycoplasma genitallium, Doctors here told me that its a very dangerous STD and they put me on Ciprofloxacin 5
My question is do you think it is possible this is mycoplasma and not chronic lyme? And if so exactly what test should I ask my doctor for to test for mycoplasma?
My IgM Lyme test through Igenex showed 30+, 39, 41 IND.

I was calm with these results but yesterday I noticed an ulcer on my penis (on prepuce). I went to the urologist and he examined me and told me that the ulcer didn't look like chancre or syphilis but in order to discard he asked me to test for VRDL.

Immunosuppressed with periodic steroid therapy, leukopenia r/t autoimmune issues, and imuran as a steroid-sparing agent. July 2013 tested positive for mycoplasma IgM (serum). Had bronchoscopy, testing was negative.
• Meds—LABA and inhaled corticosteroid. PFT’s indicated higher than predicted values for most measurements and some air trapping. High resolution CT indicated inflammation and mild bronchieactasis, but no infiltrates or consolidations.
