Pregnancy is a big estrogen surge which may make a tiny fibroadenoma become larger. Scar tissue is far and away the most likely explanation for your symptoms if it is in the area of the surgery. I would have it imaged with a mammogram and ultrasound, nonetheless, especially since estrogen causes bad things to grow as much as it causes benign things to grow. Imaging of a postsurgical scar is tricky and can look bad when it really is not, which might explain the surgeon's reluctance.
This patch contains approximately 60 percent more estrogen compared to other hormonal contraceptive. Estrogen causes some of the glands in the breast tissue to swell .Birth control patch causes consistent release of estrogen which causes elevated estrogen levels throughout the body making the breasts become larger. Other common causes are hyperthyroidism. A blood test would determine that. Diabetes can cause this. Is your weight of the right target area? (no judgment if it is not, I'm working on that myself. :>))) But a thyroid issue could be the culprit.

I am a 55 year old pre-menopasual women with dense breast tissue. My recent mammogram came back normal. Nothing was mentioned to me about extremely dense breast tissue. I have never had any children. Calcifications: Associated with Ductal Carcinoma IN Situ & benign findings.
I am wondering if supplementing a SERM (Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator) with t-blockers and estrogen would allow me to feminize my body while preventing breast tissue development.
I understand this would be an unorthodox use of SERMs, but the only other alternative I could think of would be to just take t-blockers which I know is fairly dangerous in the long-term.
Would this use of SERMs be safe/effective?

I have been taking estrogen- progestin hrt (patch) for almost 2 years and I was advised by my doctor to change to tibulone due to the fact that my breasts are dense. Do you think this kind of hrt will give me the same kind of benefits I have with the conventional hrt?
however, the level of TSH will automatically adjust with the FT3 and FT4, since TSH is a dependent variable in this case. So you cannot target FT3 / FT4 and also target TSH. You have to choose. Unfortunately doctors frequently choose TSH.
This is why I always say that the best way to treat a thyroid patient is to test and adjust FT3 and FT4 with whatever meds are required to alleviate symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH.

MOST of the time, the excess estrogen is produced in excess adipose tissue. Usually estrogen is converted into testosterone, but in some cases, this fails to happen. This is the type of case in which something like Aromasin might help.
I would certainly proceed with caution and under the supervision of an endocrinologist if I were going to recommend anything like that to a patient,

And with hormone positive cancer you for sure want to block your ovaries (if you still have them) and/or your adrenals from feeding estrogen to your estrogen positive breast cancer. You mention one mastectomy. That means you still have breast tissue on the remaining breast and also whatever breast tissue cells left behind on the mastectomy side. Research research research!! Weigh the options and risk factors and decide what you can live with.
In addition, excessive weight may contribute to hormonal imbalances in testosterone and estrogen, allowing actual breast tissue to develop. While most cases of gynecomastia resolve themselves over time, additional medical procedures may be needed to reduce the excessive skin that has developed or to remove actual breast tissue if it has formed over time.
All this being said you should see your doctor! Don't be ashamed!!
Also, just so you are aware, “natural” hormone replacement has the same risks of estrogen exposure as “clinical” HRT. Estrogen is estrogen, whether it is from soy or the lab. This is why we recommend that women with estrogen receptor positive breast cancer avoid HRT as well as soy and other “natural” estrogen products.
Apocrine metaplasia is a result of the breast tissue reacting to an overabundance of Estrogen or an imbalamce of Estrogen and Progesterone. Echogenic means that the structure of the breast reflects high frequency waves such as Ultrasound. These cysts are of no particular concern and do not increase one's risk for breast cancer. No treatment is usually needed for benign findings.
However, if, instead of producing excess hormones, the pituitary is producing less than normal levels of hormones, (partial or complete hypopituitarism), the target hormones (e.g cortisol, testosterone, estrogen, progesterone) can be "replaced", as well as growth hormone, and, I suppose ,if necessary, AVP (a posterior pituitary hormone). I was told yesterday that I have dense breast tissue, and through ultrasound was told that I have a cluster of cysts in this area by an xray technician. I has told to come back in 6 months and they would check if anything had changed. Can you help me understand what these are? Is it normal? Is Fibrocystic the same as what I was told I have?
