Avatar n tn m thinking of calling a different gynecologist to see if they can do some blood work and see if the real problem for my insomnia is no estrogen. I will be willing to get back on hormones just to get sleep. Any advise I greatly appreciate it.
Avatar m tn The first symptoms I noticed were fatigue, no libido, chronic insomnia, ED and testicular shrinkage. Then I started having constant sharp pain, burning, stinging in both my feet, calfs, knee (mostly right leg). I started noticing peeing and bowel movement was becoming difficult (trouble starting, frequency). Then started having testicular pain and sharp pain in the rectum (Urologist diagnosed rectum pain as pelvic floor problem and physical therapy has been helping the rectum pain only).
Avatar n tn I have been on prometrium for 6 months and have found it has helped me sleep as well as with the hot flashes, I take 200mg before I go to bed. The doctor suggested I try cutting it back to 100mg but the insomnia came back so I am back on the higher dose. I now just get the odd night sweat and hardly any hot flashes during the day. It took about three weeks for it to work for me so it's probably worth sticking with.
1638247 tn?1300467050 I've always been heavier than everyone else, even though I ate less and exercised more. But from the age of eight onward, I began gaining a lot of weight for no reason. No matter how little I eat or rigorously I work out, my body won't respond to diet or exercise. At one point, I was living on 200 cals a day while strength training and arobics morning, noon, and night.
1690584 tn?1340297472 Being a thyroid patient, I have personally experienced insomnia from thyroid meds being too high a dose for me. You may want to talk with your doctor about this concern ...
Avatar n tn I always thought that low estrogen is causing these symptoms. What do you think? My GP told me that my estrogen levels are still low for my age and she would increase the Estrogel, but she isn't an hormone expert, so she don't want to intrude.. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I am taking estrogen pellets. That's a typo in my original message.
Avatar f tn Im 51 years old. Lately I have been experiencing anxiety, some insomnia, happy/sad mood swings. I feel like packing my bags and running away. I pray to be nice and not let me say something mean especially towards my mom.I had a full hysterectomy in 2005 but was never prescribed any hormone pills. The doc said I didn't need any. I woke up this morning wanting to cry for no reason. Yesterday I spoke to my daughter about maybe needing a chill pill. Im tired of feeling like this.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been taking dhea for almost 3 weeks. Started with 25 mg twice a day and got a bad headache, but I was persistent. And now I take 50 mg in the am and no headache, but I have noticed that it has cause insomnia. I need to take a sleep aid in order to fall asleep. I have also been spotting for the last week. I also take vitex 485 mg twice a day. Can someone tell me how I can relieve any of these side effects. Been trying to ttc for 4 1/2 yrs now. I will be 44 yrs in April '012.
Avatar f tn My previous doctor tried me in Effexor instead of estrogen for extreme menopausal symptoms and migraines because the clinic now refuses to prescribe estrogen to anyone. I had been on low dose (.25 mg) estrogen every other day over 25 years since I had to have a hysterectomy when I was in my 30s. On Effexor I could not even function. I could only work for a few minutes at a time and then would feel exhausted and unable to concentrate so I had to lie down. I cried all the time.
Avatar n tn I am now 45. I have not had estrogen since 2015. Insomnia is bad, anxiety is higher, and depression has been around more. Nothing in my life has changed. I don't know why I all of a sudden I don't feel like my old self. I am going to see my old Gyn on Monday. I am sure he will not be happy with me going off the premarin. Do you think it is possible this is menopause or the beginning I am going through?
Avatar n tn In 2012 I was 39 and had a hysterectomy ovaries removed. My Dr put me on premarin and said he wanted me on it for 10 years. I took it for only 2 and quit. I don't know why. I hadn't had any problems until a few months ago. Insomnia is bad, sweats at night, anxiety, moodiness and low depression. Now I'm wanting to see about getting back on it. I'm 45 now. Any advise? Has anyone done this?
Avatar f tn I am just wondering how long would it take for me to get over this insomnia and nervous feeling I get. I asked my new psychiatrist today as to how long does it take for the withdrawal effect to go away and he was very vague something like he did not know probably a week, which is of no help. Should I get another psychiatrist? I wonder. If anyone out there knows, it would help me a great deal as I have so many other health issues right now to deal with.
Avatar f tn I have a 21 yr male who has low testosterone levels and high estrogen levels. He has gynecomastitis, overweight, depressed, and insomnia. Any advice on treatment option!
Avatar n tn I had some estrogen deficiency symptoms for quite a few months. If your estrogen deficiency symptoms are really bad, you could consider taking phytoestrogen supplements such as Soy, Black Cohosh, Ginseng, Red Clover or **** Quai.
Avatar n tn I was told that I could NOT take over the counter supplements for menopausal symptoms. They believe that my masses were estrogen receptive...that means no soy, no black cohash, etc as they all "mimic" estrogen.
Avatar f tn Hi taylor, wow my goodness, you are very lucky to be alive, what a horror story, I have heard of women getting their bowels knicked but usually the surgeon corrects it and prescibes massive antibiotics..its ashame the way you where treated I am totally shocked they released you with a high fever.. anyways there is not a set answer to you question..
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, the major clinical studies conducted compare estrogen-only to estrogen + progesterone. There haven't been any studies comparing daily vs every other day dosing of prometrium.
Avatar f tn Used in Europe for more than 40 years, this herb may help moderate hot flashes, mood swings and insomnia, and has proven to be effective in several studies. For relief of menopausal symptoms, especially hot flashes, begin taking 20 mg twice a day for six weeks, then try increasing the dose to 40 mg twice per day if hot flashes do not decrease in severity or intensity.
1258539 tn?1293840202 I have severe anxiety/depression/depersonalization. I went to my doctor yesterday and he said that my numbers for estrogen are low because I have so much anxiety/depression that my body is using up the estrogen where it shouldn't be. He said that if I got my anxiety/depression under control then my estorgen would go where it should. Has anyone ever heard of this? And he put me on Cymbalta 60 mg but I only took 30 mg last night as I was scared to try something new.
1190847 tn?1287363025 t hallucinate anymore and these symptoms last but three hours at most. I take 20 mg Citalopram (for panic attacks) and 150 mg Bupropion (for depression). Neither properly treats my symptoms. I feel better when I exercise, though. I haven't told my doctor, who prescribed these medications, that I experienced a two-year long psychotic episode. Should I tell him about this, and tell him what the input of my friends was? Should I quit my drugs?
Avatar f tn Instead he wants me to start taking estrogen cream and progesterone cream because of borderline low estrogen and my menopausal symptoms of hot flashes, irritability, insomnia, fluctuating periods. He says I'm not in menopause but that its prob a pituitary issue. I'm a little concerned because I've had abnormal paps and thickened uterine lining that comes and goes and fibroids that have been getting slowly bigger, as well as mildly high can 125 for a few years.
Avatar f tn Menopause is often thought of as a time of declining estrogen, but it is actually common for women to experience surges of abnormally high estrogen levels in the menopausal years, as well as earlier in life. This misconception has led many millions of women to engage in Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) to restore lost” estrogen, hoping to address the above list of conditions. This additional estrogen may only worsen the problem and even set the stage for the development of deadly disease.
Avatar f tn I was prepared for the mood swings, hot flashes, and all the other weird stuff that came with it. But not for this long. And now depression, no sex drive, major hot flashes, and bad insomnia. Nobody can answer me on how much longer. I think I ran my only ova into the ground. What should I do?
Avatar f tn t understand how I can do so well for seven months on the .625 mg and then suddenly it stopped working for me? And if I go to the higher level, I seem to be too reved up for sleep but helps hot flashes. I'm very confused and hoping somebody can help me. My doctor is baffled.
Avatar f tn What you may notice is symptoms of estrogen deficiency. I had quite a few estrogen deficiency symptoms for the next four months after surgery due to my left ovary being removed. The other ovary eventually takes over the duties of the ovary that was removed....thankfully! To help with estrogen deficiency symptoms, there are phytoestrogen supplements that mimic estrogen such as Soy, Black Cohosh, Ginseng, Red Clover or **** Quai.
Avatar f tn After taking HRT for a year to alleviate a range of crazy menopause issues , my eyes started playing tricks on me ( migraine auras without pain and blind spots lasting an hour or so) Doctor took me off HRT as she thought I was increased stroke risk. I have been off HRT for 6 months and the insomnia ,heart palps and auras are off the chain again. I am 51 and started perimenopause around 35. Is there anyone out there with the same sort of symtons and any tips to cope with this....
Avatar m tn Shortly after my surgery I was started on Estrogen 1mg. I cont to feel AWFUL....exhausted, insomnia, cloudy, flu like, horrible digestive issues ie...tons of nausea. I have lost 6 lbs. I now weigh 102 lbs which is kinda puney for me. I returned to the Dr. He doubled my Estrogen....WHOA!! I felt worse! Migraines headaches etc... I think it was overkill. Read normal dose is 1.25 mg. Been taking that for last couple days and STILL feel awful! How long does this TAKE....
