Avatar m tn I got my test results back. Did an antibody ELISA blood test last week, precisely 74 days after my exposure and it came back negative. Should I consider it correct? Thank you in advance!
Avatar m tn I am not familiar with an ELFA HIV test and thus cannot directly compare it to the stand ELISA assay. If the test is liscensed for use by the US FDA or the EU, it is reliable. If it is not or you do not know and are concerned, then you should get re-tested with a test you are assured is reliable. The odds of infection from a single exposure to a partner of unknown HIV status however is very low. Thus, even without testing, your risk for HIV from a single exposure is very, very low.
Avatar n tn 1 then I went to another lab using the euroimmun hsv2 elisa igg and I got 2.66 Ru/ml which uses the 0.00-22.00Ru/ml scale. Under the results was written: "negative serological testing but does not exclude the possibility of past hsv infection" What does that mean???? The hsv 1 igg was >200Ru/ml and under this result it said: "previous or current hsv infection" What do these results mean?? Do I have hsv2??
Avatar m tn 02) and a (LabCorp ELISA) high positive HSV-1 (28.1) I tried to get a Western Blot test. My local Quest does not offer that option, but they referred me to LabCorp with the following test number: 138487 I proceeded to get a request from my GP and blood samples were taken. I am now waiting for results. Experts: Could you please confirm that this is actually the Western Blot?
Avatar n tn Welcome to the forum. I'll try to help. The bottom line is that most likely you don't have HSV-2, but I need bit for information to be certain. Your symptoms don't sound like herpes. Although it is commonly said that herpes and yeast symptoms can be confused, generally they are quite different; and since you had the same symptoms with a previous yeast infection, that's probably what you had this time.
Avatar f tn 2 negatives from labcorp, which I understand uses the CLIA method. 2 positives from Quest (ELISA) and Bioreference (Multiplex immunoassay). What is going on? Is Quest test method (ELISA) more accurate than Labcorp's CLIA?
Avatar f tn The ELISA test is very sensitive and picks up approximately 95% of people who have antibodies as positive. However, it's so sensitive that sometimes it over-identifies antibodies in your blood as geared towards hepatitis C even sometimes when they're not. This degree of sensitivity has its advantages. For instance, when the ELISA test is negative, you can feel very confident that you are hepatitis C free.
Avatar n tn Yes and ELISA test is also called a EIA or MEIA test. All the same test.
Avatar m tn 4th generation tests are not conclusive until 3 months post exposure no different than any other ELISA test. Look at the UK HIV testing guidelines. "Post-test discussion for individuals who test HIV negative" The need for a repeat HIV test if still within the window period after a specific exposure should be discussed.
Avatar f tn Austrailia uses the same guidelines as the UK. 3 months post exposure for a conclusive test result even if a DUO test is used.
Avatar n tn Hello Teak, thanks for the reply. I know that a 7 week test is not conclusive, this is why I took another one today close to 3 months. When i was at the labratory (private) i noticed the "diagnostic machine" that possibly my test was performed. I am anxious waiting the results and i try to find some optimism this why i ask about "generation question".
Avatar m tn In the test result, it says the following: Interpretation for methid HIV 1/2 (CLIA) No Sign of HIV 1/2 Infection with IgG/AgM Elisa What is this test? Teak do u know it? Also, it mentions in the units : qualitative. What do they mean by qualitative?
Avatar n tn a few weeks later she has informed me that she has just tested positive for hiv. so i tested at 5 weeks elisa blood test which came back non reactive i tested again at 8 weeks also non reactive finally at 3 months and 3 weeks i tested again via elisa blood test which came back negative. i am reading that after a high risk encounter 6 month testing is recommended. do you agree with this 6 months time frame? or can i accept my 3 months and 3 weeks conclusive?
Avatar f tn m reading there are different types of igG tests? Herpeselect and Elisa? There is no indication of any specific type of test on my paperwork, at least that I can see.
Avatar n tn The Focus Technologies’ HerpeSelect® 1 and 2 ELISA IgG test came back NEGATIVE for HSV1 and POSITIVE for HSV2. The HSV2 count was 1.45 H. Some of the previous posts confused me.. According to my test result sheet, anything over .9 is considered positive. This test is supposed to be almost 100 % accurate, but some of the posts made me think that since I have a "low" score for antibodies, under 3, I might be negative after all. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Ah, I see----- MDL uses the 2 tier method. ELISA first then if that is indeterminate or positive, only then will they perform the WB. Igenex only uses an ELISA in conjunction with a WB---- because it feels that the ELISA isn't that reliable for Lyme. MDL seems to adopted the CDCs protocol for the 2 tier method which is one of the reasons most of us aren't enamoured of that method. So----- if that's all your insurance will pay for (MDL) then I can understand going to them.
Avatar f tn m scared that in saudi they used new generation elisa or not(i didnt aske them)please comment me your thought in about elisa test in saudi. Avatar n tn First, I lost 8 pounds from July 24 (yearly physical) and August 15 (first ELISA test). Other symptoms include mild head ache for most of those days, white coated tongue - somtimes stinging and with bad taste, prickly/slightly itchy skin at times, what i call hot flashes, neuropathy symptoms - a good amount of burning and slight pain in feet and hands.
Avatar f tn Here is discussion of the first test in your list, copied from the Centers for Disease Control, an arm of the Federal government. Digging around on the internet should give you more data and similar commentary on the rest of these tests, which appear at a glance to include Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, Babesiosis, and a few more.
1718647 tn?1437510739 All of the many tests I had, which were the standard ELISA test fir Lyme (recognized by the CDC) were negative. Finally, I had a very knowledgeable and conscientious doctor, who recommended I get the Western Blot test (not recognized by the CDC). The western blot is much more accurate. The ELISA is reknowned for giving false negatives. I have encountered many physicians, who do not believe Lyme to be a real illness, or at least not chronic.
