Avatar m tn In other words, even though I am unfamiliar with QEIA, I am confident you can rely on your negative result. The difference in various test types simply on the chemical or immunological procedures to detect HIV antibody and/or p24 antigen. Regardless of the technology, the negative result means antibody is absent. As for the exposure itself, it sounds low risk -- and that was the impression I have about Dr. Gonzalez's response on the international forum.
Avatar m tn There are no tests reliable at 2.5 weeks and rapid tests are ELISA tests. All antibody tests are conclusive at 3 months post exposure.
Avatar f tn please should i be worried ?
Avatar m tn It is an ELISA test and yes it is 4th generation. "antigen" is the give away.
Avatar m tn The time has come for my test. I fly to the states on sunday my wife made me an appointment at the health clinic. Does anyone know what type of testing the do at the local health clinic? how long ill have to wait for the results. Im scared to death that the time has come. but will be a relief to know either way.
Avatar n tn Sir, I fingered a sex worker, whose vaginal secretions where sticky and dry, I had no apparent cuts or open bleeding wounds on my index inger while fingering ,after 1 to 2 minutes, I felt so low of my self that I ran out and rinsed my hands in a cup of water but I didnt wash them say like soap or under a tap.
Avatar m tn Just so I understand then a ab/ag is an ELISA that also detects for the p24 antigen aka duo test aka 4th gen test vs a standard ab test aka ELISA aka 3rd gen correct?????
Avatar n tn They told me it was an automated test, 3rd generation. Like an ELISA but the advanced type? what does this mean?. And does this test check for all types of HIV?
Avatar f tn I had sex with a girl about 3 weeks ago, during the process, the condom tore due to absence of lubrication, some days later,i developed symptoms for gonorrhea which i treated immediately.
Avatar m tn t know what type of test it was. About 3 weeks ago I went to an STD testing office and had an ELISA test that showed positive for HSV 2, with a titer count (?) of 1.832. I dug through all the forums and posts and saw that there is a high likelihood of a false positive, especially since I am positive for HSV 1. I went to a different/new doctor (new health insurance plan just kicked in), and I told him about my research and asked for a Western Blot or Biokit test, for accuracy.
Avatar n tn I was in China and what i am concerned about is the tests thats used in china might not test for O, N , P or HIV 2 so by government information O and N or HIV 2 might not be common in china but how can they know if their test might not detect those types? However, it seems that they also use ELISA but many people said O and N is untestable in china, y is that?
Avatar m tn I had a Anti-HIV 1+2 test done which was negative at 6 weeks past exposure. Does anybody know what type of test this is. Is it the Elisa 4th Generation?
Avatar f tn I understand that an ELISA test looks for antibodies. I am from the United States. Does the GENERATION of test matter as to sensitivity? I know a lot of sites say 6 weeks may be accurate, but would that be with a earlier generation test, or are they talking about newer generations? (Although I do realize that 12 weeks is conclusive no matter what). For example, is a generation 3 test a combo ag/ab test? Or are there generation 3 tests that strictly look for antibodies?
Avatar m tn 02) and a (LabCorp ELISA) high positive HSV-1 (28.1) I tried to get a Western Blot test. My local Quest does not offer that option, but they referred me to LabCorp with the following test number: 138487 I proceeded to get a request from my GP and blood samples were taken. I am now waiting for results. Experts: Could you please confirm that this is actually the Western Blot?
Avatar m tn but a friend says that i need some special tests for uncommon hiv african types..elisa isnt very ok..true?what is the special test named?what are rare types and how long takes to be diagnosed?
Avatar n tn I just got an ELISA (EIA) 3rd generation test-result-negative. Just need to know if these tests now days check for all types of HIV 1& 2 etc.. or are there still tests that only check for 1 type?
Avatar f tn How many different kinds of HIV do they have? I only know about HIV-1 and HIV-2. Are there more that a test wouldn't be able to pick up. I took the Elisa test Homeaccess test at 9 months after my exposure. Are there more types the CDC is not telling us?
Avatar m tn t fully understand the HIV DNA PCR test and have had difficulty digging up information about it. It seems to only test HIV-1 A-H types and not the other HIV-1 type(s?) or HIV-2. Also, I see people continuously regurgitating the following line: Retest at 3 months, then 6 months, etc etc (with ELISA/EIA+WB).
