Avatar n tn All i can say is i wish you well, if its after 3months then put your feet up-relax and never do it again, abstinance is the best defense, ive had 3 elisa one pcr and next week i go for another elisa (week 6) i have all the symptoms of sero illness and am as scared to death.I feel ive just screwed up a very bright future that i had. That said i wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart. If you are negative dont take any more chances...not even with a condom.
Avatar f tn To my knowledge, it only serves as a confirmatory test if your antibodies test (ELISA or Rapid) shows that you are positive, in which case a conclusive result can only be obtained 3 months post-possible exposure.
Avatar n tn I took an ELISA test two weeks after exposure and a second one dated 50 days from the time of exposure. All in all, its been almost 7 weeks from time of exposure. Both test results came back negative. How accurate are these results, are they conclusive? Does anybody have any info on ELISA and its accuracy percentages during the window period?
Avatar n tn I had vagina unprotected sex with a girl from Russia(She told me she is HIV- and she gave me a recent ELISA test of her which proves that she is HIV- ,but I don't trust her very much, because this test in Greece can be done without confirmation of your name so she could sent someone else instead of her to do the test using her name). Anyway I hope she is telling me the truth and she is not HIV +,but, you know I have to be sure .So.....
Avatar f tn Dec 18th had PROTECTED vaginal sex, but uUNPROTECTED oral sex. I had a ELISA blood test done on DEC 28th and a Rapid Advance. Both were negative. I had another rapid advance done on Jan 16th. also negative. I am literally making myself crazy over this. I looked into the DNA by PCR test. The said if you get a negative test result 28 days Post exposure it is CONFERMED NEGATIVE.. They also run a ELISA antibody at the same time. If both come back negative, they say your negative.
Avatar n tn It has been 30 days since my last encounter and I got the Elisa test today just to feel at ease. The nurse at the testing center said after 14 days you can get the Elisa test and if negative not to worry, but if I am absolutely positive I have HIV I should get retested at the 3 month mark if I didn't trust the 30 day test.
Avatar n tn That is way I got my 5 week elisa and came back negative. I have the same question as you do, how precise is this test? What are the statistics or probabilities?
Avatar f tn it was followed by fever, sore throat and night sweats after 1 month of exposure.. i had DNA PCR after 17 days of exposure.. then ELISA after 1.5 months, 3 months and then again DNA PCR and ELISA both after 5.5 months (I fell ill again). Afterwards, I had several ELISA antibody tests in last three years and all these were negative.. I am having persistent dry cough which does not go away..
Avatar m tn At 29 days post possible exposure I had an HIV DNA by PCR test, ELISA antibody test and testing for other STDs done. The PCR, ELISA antibody test and all STD tests except for herpes were all negative. In your expert opinion is a negative PCR and ELISA antibody test conclusive at 29 days? Concerning the herpes I had this well before this incident as my girlfriend told me she had it and I had been diagnosed with this a couple of years ago.
Avatar f tn I received a HSV tiger test for HSV 1 and 2. My results were negative for HSV 2 at igG level 0.8. My igG level for HSV 1 was 1.1 and I was told this was high positive. Is the negative result  cut off line for HSV -1 a IgG level of 1.0 or 1.1? I asked the DR. What test they ran and whether it was a herpeselect, and whether there was an ELISA ratio listed. He said the ratio was listed as IgG and didn't see ELISA listed on the report.
Avatar m tn Hello, I had vaginal intercourse with a female in Dominican Republic on what we'll call "Day 1". I was using a condom but it broke. I pulled out and noticed that the condom has broken in half and the top was gone. The female got tested in Dominican Republic on "Day 6" and the test came back negative. A week after the incident I had a terrible kink in my neck for 4-6 days that I could not seem to get rid of.
Avatar n tn To my astonishment, my HIV test came back positive ELISA and negative Western Blot. My PCP was not at all concerned. She considered the test to be negative, but did ask that I get a quick blood test reran at the 6-month mark just to officially clear my status. I have since broken up with this person (for reasons unrelated to a confusing and scary HIV test). We last had unprotected sex (again, he did not come inside me) on June 23.

Avatar m tn and she said that even with the ELISA, according to her medical experience, a test is conclusive by week 8 !!
Avatar m tn Recently decided to test with Focus Elisa due to concerns over a string of low-risk exposures all occurring more than 3 years ago. Never had any symptoms. Focus came back hsv1 negative, and hsv2 high positive (>3.5). After some reading about development of the Elisa test, decided to confirm with WB even though I was not a 'low positive'. WB came back indeterminate. Doctors are saying I'm likely to remain persistently indeterminate.
Avatar n tn You can't reduce the antibody test. You do not have hepatitis C or your PCR report would not be undetected (negative). Once you have been exposed to hepatitis C you will always have a positive Elisa test. You have nothing to worry about. You either have a false positive antibody or you were exposed and your body fought the virus off. Feel lucky, not sad.
Avatar f tn Hiye, this may seem a silly question but is the Elisa test that is used for HIV the same as the Elisa test used for rheumatoid arthritis?.. Is the Elisa just a standard antibody test that is not disease specific and if reactive then a specific test is used?..
Avatar m tn Later developed more rashes and mono like symptoms. At 5 weeks had a negative Elisa, and viral load was still undetectable less that 47 copies. Finished 5 week course of pep, but still had symptoms of sore throat, weight loss of 10 lbs, rashes, and oral ulcers. It is now 80 days and I tested Elisa negative. My question is since I was on pep I would have to probably wait 6 months for final determination. I am really worried because I was symptomatic during the period.
Avatar n tn Hi Terri, I had unprotected sex in January and was tested positive for HSV2 in April here's my result: 4/1/2011 Herpes I Ab. (IgG): 0.11 Herpes II Ab. (IgG): 1.91 4/7/2011 HSV-2 IgG Inhibition, ELISA: screening index is 1.37, % inhibition is 88 The clinic told me that this inhibition test was a confirmatory test that I'm truly hsv2 positive. None of them could explain the numerical results to me well. So here are my questions: What is the screening index of 1.37?
Avatar f tn my doctor is said to me to give pcr-rt (quantitative) test? what is pcr? I am very worried.
Avatar m tn i have got an elisa test done for hiv 3 years after exposure. my test confirmed that i was negative. do i need to get retested or can i be assured that i am hiv negative. and yeah thanks for answering my previous questions, it helped me a great deal. you all are doing a great job , thumbs up....
