Common Questions and Answers about Elisa test sensitivity and specificity

Avatar m tn is ECLIA test as reliable as an ELISA test? and what is the sensitivity and specificity of an ECLIA test? thanks once again.
Avatar m tn Does anybody know anything about this test, in terms of sensitivity/specificity? What is this test comparable to? I can not find any info on the CDC/FDA websites saying ICMA is an approved FDA test (infact, I can't find any info on this test.) I suppose the main question is: Is this test a good, modern test at picking up recent infections (in comparison to the standard ELISA tests....?
Avatar f tnsensitivityandspecificity’. The ELISA test is very sensitive (99.5 per cent) meaning it will detect even very small quantities of HIV antibodies. But, because the ELISA test is so sensitive, it has less specificity which means there’s a chance that it could produce a small number of false-positive results. Because of this a second type of HIV test, the Western Blot, is performed on all samples that test positive for HIV antibodies using the ELISA test.
Avatar m tn 100%, Specificity: 99.8% Capture Ag: HIV-1 (p24, gp41), HIV-2 (gp36) Evaluated by WHO (Sensitivity 100%, Specificity 99.3%) Procured by WHO, UNICEF, etc.
Avatar m tn 8% , the day after i got my neuropathie symptoms, So i decided to wait another weeks excactly 43 days, to get a retest, i ask for a normal screening hiv test, after three hours of stress the result was negative, the test was gpa, gelatin particle agglutination usually used by who, it s a rapid test again, but negative, it says on the paper sensitivity is 100% as specificity well.
Avatar m tn t use a Western Blot to confirm a negative test result. Serodia HIV 1/2 test sensitivity is 100% and its specificity is 98%.
Avatar m tn Hello and thank you in advance for your response. I recently had a HSV2 euroimmun test. The results are as follows: Positive (23.3RU/ml) which is marginally higher than the cut off for a positive (22ru/ml). I gather that Euroimmun has fairly good sensitivity but slightly lower specificity. Any chance this could be a false positive? Never had blisters or lesions on my genital but I do get tinglings from time to time.
Avatar m tn I would advice you to do 'Fourth generation ELISA for HIV1/HIV2' in 6week after the exposure. 1) 4th generation ELISA is a DUO TEST (Antibody and Antigen Sandwich Test) .It actually looks for the P24 (protein) Antigen and Antibodies simultaneously. 2) P24 Antigen is almost always present in the body after acquiring the virus till the 4th week after infection and then it disappears . 3)Once the P24 antigen disappears, antibodies starts to show up.
Avatar f tn That test is a 3rd generation Antibody test that tests for HIV 1/2. This is a very sensitive and accurate test. The sensitivity of this test is 99.7% which is the % of the result which will be positive and the specificity is 100% which is the % of the result which will be negative. I have read your posts on here and believe me you are fully conclusive at 5 months. 90 days is considered conclusive and FINAL.
Avatar n tn The information on the web toward the specificity and sensitivy of hiv antibody test suggests that the specificity (combined with western blot) (99.99%) is greater than sensitivity (99.6%). However, this seems to contradict the general belief and impression that false positive (which results from the failure to distinguish non-hiv antibody form hiv antibody) is more likely than false negative?
Avatar f tn assays had an overall sensitivity and specificity of 52% and 100% compared with 81% (P=0.0007) and 99% (P=1.0) using analogous European tests. The sensitivity of a U.S. C6 ELISA used as a stand-alone test (88% overall) was statistically comparable to that of conventional 2-tiered testing using European tests (P=0.47) and was 100% specific. Similarly, an alternative 2-tiered algorithm using a standard U.S.
Avatar m tn i went in a thai hospital where i got a rapid test at five weeks, don t know about the test they did to me but it returned negative, it was written sensibility 99,6% and specificity 99.
Avatar m tn The ELISA test was the first screening test widely used for HIV because of its high sensitivity. The sensitivity and specificity of ELISA test is 99.99% . The difference between ELISA and tri-dot test is in its sensitivity and specificity. The The sensitivity and specificity of the TRI-DOT test is 99.48% . In a study conducted over 23,609 sera, seven (0.03%) gave discordant results.
Avatar m tn Now I know PCR is not for screening and diagnosing due to high cost , technical problems, and high rate of false positives. I took this test since it was too early for an ELISA test alone. But if this test has high sensibility (no false negative) and a good specificity (some false positive) my negative result after 15 days should be quite good or not ? Can i take this results as conclusive ?
Avatar n tn The remaining discordant serum was considered to be false-positive by the TRI-DOT assay, as it was negative by repeat ELISA and Western blot tests. The sensitivity and specificity of the TRI-DOT test were 99.48% and 99.99%, respectively, compared with the fourth-generation ELISA. Does this mean tidot test is not a reliable one or it provides false results.
Avatar f tn s specificity and sensitivity in China. You know, if a disease begins to spread, it always takes several years to cause the government's alarm and attention.
Avatar n tn I went and got an hiv test done at the seven week mark, Its says negative and says test doen by enzyme immunoassay and specificity 99.3% and sensitivity 100% i have read the percentages and it says that ninety five percent of the test that turn postive will turn so in the seven week period. I would like to know if this applies to the test i did i am in srilanka.
