Common Questions and Answers about Elisa test sensitivity

elisa-test

Avatar m tn Do you think I need to worry about whatever type or group of hiv when I was tested negative two times with elisa assay for antibodies (no pcr test)? Are these tests enough sensitive and true? I see now I didn't mention in my first post that I was tested only with tests for antibodies. Thank you very much.
Avatar m tn I am no more impressed with the sensitivity of the immunoblot than the ELISA, regardless of the numbers. The immunoblot is a color change test, it doesn't give a numeric value. So it would be easy to over-read it and get greater sensitivity. If you want greatest sensitivity to HSV 1, I prefer the western blot hands down. Nothing you took 10 years ago will influence a test that you take now, no worries there.
Avatar m tn The ELISA test was the first screening test widely used for HIV because of its high sensitivity. The sensitivity and specificity of ELISA test is 99.99% . The difference between ELISA and tri-dot test is in its sensitivity and specificity. The The sensitivity and specificity of the TRI-DOT test is 99.48% . In a study conducted over 23,609 sera, seven (0.03%) gave discordant results.
Avatar n tn according to you how reliable is such a single Elisa test at day+41 ? As lots of people, I really freak out. Thanks for your concern. P.
Avatar m tn is ECLIA test as reliable as an ELISA test? and what is the sensitivity and specificity of an ECLIA test? thanks once again.
Avatar m tn 5 months after my exposure. i dont know the generation of that test. but the nurse told it is elisa test. but there ia no any reading on the result sheet instead it was written Negative. Is it elisa test? can i belive on it?
Avatar f tn Hiye, this may seem a silly question but is the Elisa test that is used for HIV the same as the Elisa test used for rheumatoid arthritis?.. Is the Elisa just a standard antibody test that is not disease specific and if reactive then a specific test is used?..
Avatar m tn Is this test a good, modern test at picking up recent infections (in comparison to the standard ELISA tests....?
Avatar n tn so you think that a ELISA HIV TEST Third generation at 4 week is quite good indicator?
Avatar n tn I will go Jakarta if my villege no 3 generetion test. test shop paper print EIA (assxym). Is the test not the forum call elisa or is one old test long time no use already.
Avatar m tn And the window period for a standard ELISA test is 3 months. So no 21 days negative would not give you a conclusive negative result.
Avatar m tn I have just test non reactive to HIV and negative to syphilis after nine weeks following a high risk exposure. The test i took was ELISA. Do i still have a chance to develop antibodies the remaining three weeks to pass three months?
Avatar m tn I would advice you to do 'Fourth generation ELISA for HIV1/HIV2' in 6week after the exposure. 1) 4th generation ELISA is a DUO TEST (Antibody and Antigen Sandwich Test) .It actually looks for the P24 (protein) Antigen and Antibodies simultaneously. 2) P24 Antigen is almost always present in the body after acquiring the virus till the 4th week after infection and then it disappears . 3)Once the P24 antigen disappears, antibodies starts to show up.
Avatar m tn I got tested with Elisa antibodies test at 20 days and results came back non reactive but index read is 0.19, teak I really trust your opinion, I want to get this out of mind, do I need to retest after 3 months, I just knew that it was protected sex but I knew that the girl I had sex with was raped before by heavy drugs user.
Avatar n tn A sample of urine is tested at a certified lab, using a modified ELISA procedure. This test must be ordered by a physician; this means the urine HIV test, by definition, is confidential, not anonymous. Because it is less sensitive than a blood test, positive results must be confirmed by a traditional blood sample (ELISA plus WB).
Avatar m tn If oral antibody rapid testing is as sensitive/ accurate as blood antibody test (ELISA) - why do people go for latter to confirm ? I do know that if any of these turn out positive, a WB is done for further confirmation.
Avatar m tn Hello Doctors, Excuse my bad english. First, thank you very much for all what you are doing. I am a French guy established in Canada for a few months, 6 weeks and 2 days after a low risk sexual exposure, I remained very worried so I performed an HIV test "Elisa combo p24" that came back negative. I know that this result is conclusive according to your previous answers on this forum.
Avatar m tn So in short less then a month or during ARS, PCR RNA tests is best (9 -11 days after the exposure) but after a month a PCR DNA test would be best, but at this point an Elisa test would work just as good and without the risk of false positive which would make most people here go crazy. 6. RNA PCR is for early detection, test at the 14 th day after the exposure backed up by an antibody test at the 12th week is good enough to rule out HIV.
Avatar f tn An index is the ratio between Lyme ELISA antibodies in the spinal fluid and Lyme ELISA antibodies in the serum. The proposed index of 1.3 would be expected to have even worse sensitivity." source: http://www.lymeiniowa.org/ILADS.htm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We're a small group of regulars here, not enough of us to be able to advise on area LLMD's. Avatar m tn Positive for HSV-2, negative for others ( HIV, HSV1, Hepatitis, Syphilis, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea ). The herpes test kit used was HerpeSelect ELISA for HSV-1 and HSV-2. Specifically, the HerpeSelect 1 ELISA result was 0.35 and the HerpeSelect 2 ELISA result was 8.79 I repeated the tests in September 2009. A different provider who also used HerpeSelect ELISA. Same results as the testing in May - postive for HSV-2, negative for all others.
Avatar f tn 0) using analogous European tests. The sensitivity of a U.S. C6 ELISA used as a stand-alone test (88% overall) was statistically comparable to that of conventional 2-tiered testing using European tests (P=0.47) and was 100% specific. Similarly, an alternative 2-tiered algorithm using a standard U.S. ELISA followed by a C6 ELISA was comparably sensitive (84% overall) compared with conventional 2-tiered testing using European assays (P=0.82), and specificity remained 100%. Conclusions.
Avatar m tn Elisa is really good at hsv2 (97~%) but not as good for hsv1 (90-91%) after 4 mobths have passed. After 16 weeks WB is superior to Elisa. Elisa is slightly better than biokit. No herpes doesnt cause any dead cells or ling term effects unless there was a bacterail infection additional to the viral lesion but his is very rare and would not go unnoticed.4 I cant say but everyone has little white bumps, ireegularities, ingrown hairs etc.
Avatar f tn What is the sensitivity of the ElISA blood tests for HIV? I have taken the test years after my high risk exposure but have a hard time believing it. Is it 99.7% (according to Wikipedia)? What is a more accurate test?
