The rapid test came back as negative on the day and 2 weeks later the ELISA test came back as positive and the western blot test is indeterminate with a single band presented given a moderate reactivity to p24. I was shocked and scared.
The doctor took another sample on the day he gave me the result. Now at 4 weeks after the unprotected sex, I had a Negative Rapid test and still waiting for result of the ELISA test.
I heard that the during the ELISA test, the laboratory assistant will divided the sample into several parts? Isn't it? If so is that mean it actually test each of the parts? For example if they divided it into 5 parts, that will be make five tests and get five result, if one of them is positive then they will re-test to confirm. They do this in order to avoid the tests-mistake such as reagents mistakes which is sometime cause the false negative. Am I right?
Secondly, you need a test at the 3rd month with an antibody test. Could be ELISA, CMIA, ELFA etc. As long as it is an antibody test it works. ELISA is just the technology of the test used to detect antibody. However, it's the most conventional technology and widely used. Thirdly, oraquick is an antibody test and uses the ELISA technology.
does this test covers all subtypes and groups of hiv or do i have to under go separate tests, and i have not done any elisa test so do i have to take an elisa or the test westernblot is enough, i have also taken an dna qualitative pcr which was negative, and one more thing i would like to add is that they have tested my sample 6 days after they had drawn nlood sample of me , could that might have affected my results please give me some adivice as since my partner have tested positive i am i a p

The doctor told me that my ELISA test was positive and so they sent my blood sample for an Antigen Western Blot test which came back negative. The doctor told me that 99,999% the Elisa test was false because of other factors that might affect the blood but he asked me to retest in one week.

I had a test done I'm assuming an elisa. My doctor said it was negative. I just don't understand why I'm getting billed for a confirmation test which is a western bot after positive elisa? I always thought if you have a positive elisa, you are told by the Dr and have to get further testing through the western bot.
