Common Questions and Answers about Elisa test reliability

elisa-test

Avatar m tn Then I had Anti HIV 1-2 / p 24 antigent test at 42 days. It was negative. Then I took ELISA and Western Blot at 46 days; both were negative. My doc told me that I am now negative no need for further testing. She said if western blot is negative at 6 weeks , it will be negative at 12 weeks too. Now my question is: is it true that am I negative 100%? or what is the chance based on your best assumption? Should I need to take enother ELISA at 12 weeks?
Avatar n tn My girlfriend been showing the similar symptoms too and she has 6 week laboratory duo elisa test, 9 week insti, 10 week laboratory duo elisa, 12 week + 1 day 2 instiĀ“s. Are this home test really reliable or does she need to go to the laboratory for duo elisa confirming negative result?
Avatar m tn Quick question. Is the HIV test (combo or elisa) user friendly? I live In a remote country and doubt that the technicians know how to use it? Or it's just automatic?
Avatar f tn I was just wondering if I should take a 4th gen combo test at 8 weeks or would it be as reliable as a regular third gen Elisa at this point since its past 28 days?
461010 tn?1208482459 The manufater (Inverness medical) doesnt say what generation its, but after reading how the test works, it works like a 2nd generation test. an the rapid test are as good as any elisa for negative result.
Avatar m tn after this exposure on december 11th (2days after last exposure) i have tested for HIV with ELISA tri-dot test and the result was nagative. after this my neighbour female was tested on january 3rd (after 25 days of last exposure) and the result was negative. and i get tested on 25th Jan i.e., 6 weeks 5 days after the last exposure and 1st of february i.e., 7 weeks 5 days and the results ( ELISA tri-dot test ) was negative again.
458384 tn?1295720656 My adopted daughter lives very far from me. She was talking about a test her shrink is having her take. Can you tell me what MSDR are the abbreviations for? What kind of a test is it? How accurate is it. Any other information you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
Avatar m tn I have also heard that vaccinations can cause false positives. is there a window period where this wouldnt happen? And if it does affect the ELISA test, would it also affect the western blot or IFA confirmatory tests? Thanks again.
Avatar f tn I had unprotected vaginal sex. 3rd day i had fever of 37.6. 4th day after exposure i had weak legs and kidney, low back pain. At 6 th day i develop sore throat with white tongue. On the 8th day i felt slight headache and on and off fever normally in the afternoon. I went for a complete test at 32 days after my exposure. tje test result came out hiv 1&2 by elisa as non reactive but i was diagnosed with herpes 2. i know conclusive result is only by 3 or 6 months.
Avatar m tn I get tested myself thrice on 4th day p24 antigen test,39th day rapid HIV test and PCR DNA DETECTOR test on 42th day all my results were negative and all were from reputed labs PCR from SRL RANBAXY and i have also taken rapid HIV test of that girl 5th day after possible exposure, she was also negative. But the question was she might be in a window period .Now i just want to ask you whether i test myself once again or can i move on.
Avatar n tn It depends whether it was a DNA or RNA test. Only the RNA test is approved for diagnostic use. Anyway, it doesn't matter what type of test you take if you only had oral sex.
Avatar m tn And if it could be detected at 28 days, it could be detected at 40 days. Does it lose reliability over time, gain reliability over time, or does the reliability remain constant? 3. How concerned should I or anyone else be about a potential false negative as shown by this test (accompanied by an antibodies test) at two months post exposure or greater? Please help me understand.
Avatar m tn What is the reliability of HIV antibody test at 4 weeks. Percentages please. Don't want generalized statements, or the 4-6week, 3 month spiel.
Avatar m tn i think a 3rd generation elisa test or a 4th generation combo test will be sufficient.....anyway i m going to give samples at three places simultaneously..........i want to get over it as soon as possible.......
Avatar f tn Many online test kits are not approved or reliable. You should have had a standard antibody elisa test at 3 months post-exposure instead.I,ve never heard of that one.
Avatar m tn Terrified, I got myself tested using HIV ELISA antibody test after 60 days of exposure, which turned out to be negative. On the 83rd day post exposure, I got another HIV ELISA antibody test done ( test report said that the test detects both HIV I and HIV II antibodies), which turned out be negative as well.
4618178 tn?1359357285 I was wondering about reliability of express ELISA blood test. The results are given in 15-20 minutes after the blood taken. It sounds like way too quick for such a serious test. Please give me your opinions. I would appreciate if anyone who is specialized on this area answered my question. Sorry for my English, I'm not a native speaker.
Avatar n tn The doctor told me that my ELISA test was positive and so they sent my blood sample for an Antigen Western Blot test which came back negative. The doctor told me that 99,999% the Elisa test was false because of other factors that might affect the blood but he asked me to retest in one week. Is it possible that I have contacted Hiv? If so, how? I used a condom and it didn't break. I also cannot have Hiv from previus relationships because I tested Hiv negative 9 months ago.
Avatar m tn 3 months with an antibody test is when you can obtain a conclusive test. A 6 week test is very encouraging but 3 months is conclusive.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have some questions about the HerpesSelect Type Specific test. How accurate is a negative result after 6 months post exposure? I've read many stories on here where people test negative after 3 months or more post exposure but end up testing positive on a swab test. Are false negatives common on an IGG test after the proper amount of time has passed or is this a rare occasion that happens every once in a while?
