Common Questions and Answers about Elisa test reagents

elisa-test

Avatar n tn I heard that the during the ELISA test, the laboratory assistant will divided the sample into several parts? Isn't it? If so is that mean it actually test each of the parts? For example if they divided it into 5 parts, that will be make five tests and get five result, if one of them is positive then they will re-test to confirm. They do this in order to avoid the tests-mistake such as reagents mistakes which is sometime cause the false negative. Am I right?
Avatar n tn will an ELISA test detect all strains of HIV including groups N and O and all CRF's???

Avatar f tn I would like to ask is, SD production of reagents reliability is not very high, I can rule out such a situation is infected, I test reagent is a multi-window period should be long, I mean having sex with the detected need more long time. I landed on your company's website, but I do not know Korean, English is also very general, I suggest that you can open up the Chinese version, can also increase the points to make on HIV knowledge.
Avatar n tn In many cases the clinics do not know which type of test is in use. They will just say it's an antibody test and to test outside the window period. I asked the health advisor here what type of test they used when they tested me at 28 days. She was a little taken aback I asked and said it was just a normal antibody test. It was only after I tested outside the window that I found out the test they use is a combined Antibody / P24 Antigen test.
Avatar m tn As you were told, Western Blot test is a confirmatory test, done after someone gets a positive ELISA test. To confirm and revalidate the ELISA test result is the job of a WB test and in your case, it did its job. So relax and believe your WB test.
Avatar n tn Today I found out my blood test report and found out that my result was validated within 1 hour which freaked me out as I had recent risk and exposure towards hiv which antibodies might not form yet. I went to the lab and asked and they said they are using Roche Cobas E411 to perform the assay and result can be obtained very soon ( around 1 hour if there are no other samples the same time).
Avatar f tn http://jvi.asm.org/content/85/3/1403.full Group P infections may not be efficiently detected by current HIV screening tests due to the absence of group P-specific reagents for antibody detection. Thus, group P infections may have been missed because of our strategy of evaluating only HIV-seropositive specimens. what do u think of this?
5901675 tn?1376373311 i got today my HBsAG Elisa titer result. 0.060 was my result and the cut of value is 0.105 is that normal? please help me to understand this...
Avatar f tn and I do HIV tests using rapid test at 56 days, the result is NON REAKTIVE, and I memgulangi again test by ELISA at day 77, the results of 0003 NON REAKTIVE and inspection information using the tools and reagents vidas bioMérieux (I do not understand with these tools), then I repeat in 90 days using rapid tests, the results NON reaktive. .. then I repeat it again at 135 days (4.5 months) using rapid tests in private hospitals NON results reaktive ... that so my question 1.
Avatar n tn My elisa done at 8 weeks proved to be positive. I am awaiting my western blot test which should be tomorrow. However I am alarmed that I could have a positve elisa even when so much is said that massage+handjob= no risk. I did not have any penetrative Oral or Anal or Vaginal sex before. I however took Sporanox (itraconazole) for my fungal infections. Can this lead to a false positive.
Avatar n tn human error, faulty test reagents etc. In your case, you need to repeat your test, preferably at another laboratory.
Avatar n tn I freaked out after we broke up because I ended up developing Pityriasis Rosea on my trunk and legs, had a sinus infection/cold of some sort, adenoids ended up getting removed, but no real fever. Went crazy with anxiety and got a DNA PCR test at about 35 days which was negative, an ELISA at about 3 and a half weeks, Rapid at 4, and a Home Access Test at 2 and a half months. My ex also went to planned parenthood for a rapid and supposedly tested negative.
Avatar m tn Or, whether the RNA test requires different reagents when it detects HIV-1, HIV-2 or HIV-0. The doctor in the hospital told me the RNA test can detect all types of HIV. However, some other specialists on the internet told me the RNA test needs different reagents to detect HIV-1 and HIV-2. Whose opinion is right? Does any one can tell me a definite answer? Thank you very much.
Avatar m tn If the same blood specimen is tested in the same lab 10 times, using different batches of test reagents, it will give 10 different numbers that could vary anywhere from, say, 0.1 to 0.5 to 0.8. Each of these results would be equally negative, and they do not indicate varying levels of antibody of any kind. These variations are built into the technology of almost all ELISA tests for HSV or anything else. The same variation also is the norm in HIV testing, for example.
Avatar m tn manufacturer says it is invalid to read results after 20 minutes from start of test),,,but one test showed extremely faint line 40 minutes after start of test,,,this really scared me,,,so despite my will i went to a lab and tested by elisa, i haven't got the result yet, and i think i won't go to get the result, i am really scared, what should i do?
Avatar m tn risk, why did you even do pcr when you had so many negative antibody test? If you have done so many antibody test with negative, the first pcr positive is a false positive. Or do you have done pep, have severe immuun diseas or chemo threatment?
Avatar m tn it is an ultra obsolete test from prehistory, probably elisa, useless for chronic carriers and with many false negatives because it cannot detect all hbsag types.the number is about reagents in the test and has nothing to do with hbsag good machines for hbsag detection and quantification since 2000 are architect, siemens, elecsys.these must be used for hbv tests.
Avatar m tn 3rd generation ab test, RPR test, HCV ab test: negative; HBV test: negative (Hbsab negative) At 33 days: 4th generation ELISA (ab+p24ag) test: negative Doctor, I am still in deep anxiety at the moment even I had those test results. The questions below still in my mind, could you help? 1. How's the risk in my event? Actually before I post here to ask for your help, I read hundreds of posts in and out of China.
Avatar m tn Hi, Can anyone from UK tell me, what type of Test does GUM Clinic follows?? There are some GUM Clinics offering Rapid HIV Test are this Tests reliable?? Just also wanted to know the differnce betweed HIV DUO Test & Elisa Test, which is more reliable and which are the Tests Approved by FDA.
Avatar n tn Years ago they changed the type of reagents in test kit, which moved HIV testing forward significantly by reducing the window period. Subsequent generations have not reduced the windoe pwriod by so much. The 4th generation kits as well as checking for antibodies check for antigen too which is present early on for a couple of weeks, I think day 16 to about 3rd week of initial infection.
Avatar f tn Thanks Doc- you have been more than helpful. I was considering a WB test, but it appears to not be necessarily?
Avatar n tn Welcome back to the forum. You asked the same question on the herpes forum; you can expect a similar reply. Such a wide swing in your partner's HSV-2 antibody test result is not explainable by any known biological mechanism; it has to be a glitch in the test. Lab error is the best bet, but it could be a bad batch of test reagents. Your partner's blood pressure medication has nothing to do with this.
Avatar m tn But my another test of HEPATITIS B VIRUS BY PCR states that: "Hepatitis B Virus DNA not detected" Now i am confused b/w Surface Antigen test report and PCR test report. What should i do now?
Avatar f tn Rapid test types are usually 3rd or 4th gen.
