I have a question regarding testing:
I got my results back today from LabCorp. It was the Trinity Captia ELISA IGG test for both 1 & 2. Both results were negative at 11.2 weeks post exposure. I also had this test done at 8.5 weeks, negative for both.
What is everyone's view of this test and it's accuracy and it's likelihood to change at 16 weeks? Thanks for your help.
When I tested at 15 weeks, unbeknownst to me, they ordered a HSV DNA PCR blood test instead of an ELISA antibody test. I was negative for both HSV1 and HSV 2 by this test.
I went back to the clinic today, 6 days after my blood was drawn for the pcr test, and asked for an ELISA as I read pcr by blood is not proven.
Well two weeks after I went to my Dr. He pumped some fear into me. Had me do STD test and HIV test. I belive the HIV test was in ELISA test? had to wait a week for the results. Went to the Dr today. Everything came back neg. So I am confident I have no other STDs. But my worrie is still HIV. What good is an ElIsa test after two weeks? Does that tell you anything?
There are no tests reliable at 2.5 weeks and rapid tests are ELISA tests. All antibody tests are conclusive at 3 months post exposure.
Hey before you go, im not trying to pester you but I just want to ask , so would you say this test just as good as taking a standard lab test such as ELISA or Western Blot?
The doctor told me that my ELISA test was positive and so they sent my blood sample for an Antigen Western Blot test which came back negative. The doctor told me that 99,999% the Elisa test was false because of other factors that might affect the blood but he asked me to retest in one week.

The duo test IS an ELISA, combined with a test for HIV p24 antigen. If a duo test is positive at 7 weeks, it is because HIV antibody is present. Therefore, an ELISA antibody test will always be positive in that circumstance. If your duo test is positive, there is no point to repeating an ELISA; you have HIV and that's all there is to it. If so, you need to immediately make an appointment with a doctor or clinic for proper medical care.
I decided to get an HIV test at 7.5 (51 days) weeks with a PCR DNA test and 3rd gen ELISA, both were negative. Then at about 9 weeks I started to notice some discomfort in my mouth and throat, I tested again at 10.5 weeks with a 3rd gen ELISA test, which came back negative again. At around 11 weeks I came down with a mild flu bug and decided to test (3rd gen ELISA) again at 12.5 weeks (88 days), which was negative.

About a week or so ago I needed to get a medical check for work. When I got my results back, I was shocked to be told that the Elisa test came back as HIV reactive at 1.52. They tested it twice. I really have no idea what that number stands for, though.

Therefore, when i went back to USA i took a HIV DNA test by the PCR and an ELISA test after 33 days the test was done by Labcorp. The result came back NEGATIVE.
