Avatar m tn Hi, Can anyone from UK tell me, what type of Test does GUM Clinic follows?? There are some GUM Clinics offering Rapid HIV Test are this Tests reliable?? Just also wanted to know the differnce betweed HIV DUO Test & Elisa Test, which is more reliable and which are the Tests Approved by FDA.
Avatar n tn Ab qualitative diagnosed test. So now I am in doupt what the differnce between EIA and ELISA test? And is there any difference in terms of implemntation method of the test or both is done in same procedure? Is it enough for me (Niegative result at 84 days) to know my HIV status or I should retest?
Avatar n tn Dr. EWH, My girlfriend and I tested for hiv and my girlfriend got the result back today. The result says "negative" and in "reference range" column states "nonreactive". It says that test was "hiv 1/2 ABS /W RFLX CONFIRMATION". It also says hiv-1/hiv-2 ABS ELISA. Does that mean ELISA was done first and then confirmed with something else? Or does it mean that it was confirmed by another test because the result of ELISA wasn't good?
Avatar n tn I heard that the during the ELISA test, the laboratory assistant will divided the sample into several parts? Isn't it? If so is that mean it actually test each of the parts? For example if they divided it into 5 parts, that will be make five tests and get five result, if one of them is positive then they will re-test to confirm. They do this in order to avoid the tests-mistake such as reagents mistakes which is sometime cause the false negative. Am I right?
Avatar m tn 6 years ago I had protected sex with a csw and because of fear of condom breakage, i was too stressed. Finally after 2 years of this exposure, i took hiv elisa test and the result came 0.11. I dont know which generation of the test was. But my question is that, is this result absolutely conclusive or will i need to take some more tests? Although i got the test from a reputated laboratory but again i am too anxious that they might make some mistakes. Does it happen in the labs usually?
Avatar m tn I got a ELISA test done on the 30th of Jan (6 days after the supposed encounter) and it came out negative, but what of the window period. Could I have contracted something else? What are these symptoms for? I am VERY Worried. I am only 26.
Avatar m tn If oral antibody rapid testing is as sensitive/ accurate as blood antibody test (ELISA) - why do people go for latter to confirm ? I do know that if any of these turn out positive, a WB is done for further confirmation.
Avatar n tn A sample of urine is tested at a certified lab, using a modified ELISA procedure. This test must be ordered by a physician; this means the urine HIV test, by definition, is confidential, not anonymous. Because it is less sensitive than a blood test, positive results must be confirmed by a traditional blood sample (ELISA plus WB).
Avatar n tn Vance2335 i took 2 HIV test in 2 different labs. ELISA Possitive CMIA Negative what should I do ?
Avatar m tn If you had no exposure after your last rapid test, it's highly likely the Elisa was a false positive. And furthermore, your negative western blot confirms this. You are conclusively negative. Use condoms always. Take care.
Avatar f tn s not, because it is now known that the Lyme bacteria can and do *suppress* your immune system, and your immune system activity against a Lyme infection is exactly what the W.blot/ELISA tests look for. The test result of the W.blot/ELISA tests can then wrongly say that you have no antibodies against Lyme, and therefore do not have Lyme, when actually it may be that the Lyme bacteria are just not being located and reported on the test results. More than you ever wanted to know, I'm sure ...
Avatar f tn let me give it a try , when tested at a place like labcorp and taken a elisa antibody test what is the procedure of testing, meaning what if my test screwed up or something like that?? ya I no its just driven by anxiety But oh well, also does anyone know what gene ation test I did take???
Avatar f tn m also wondering how come my elisa test came back in only 48 hours, I read online that it usually takes as long as 1-2 weeks. I know from reading several posts that the comment ''your test is conclusive'' will be added by another user, but i'm just trying to get some more information on the testing procedure that could help me and hopefully help anyone that will read your further replies. Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn You would need to ask the lab or your doctor. I've never seen the term "doubtful" on an HIV test. I don't know why you're even thinking about the ELISA test. Your RNA test is conclusive and you don't have HIV. There isn't anything more anyone here can say about your events, since you didn't have a risk for HIV, and there's nothing to add about your test results since you've tested conclusively negative.
Avatar n tn Today I found out my blood test report and found out that my result was validated within 1 hour which freaked me out as I had recent risk and exposure towards hiv which antibodies might not form yet. I went to the lab and asked and they said they are using Roche Cobas E411 to perform the assay and result can be obtained very soon ( around 1 hour if there are no other samples the same time).
Avatar f tn Hiye, this may seem a silly question but is the Elisa test that is used for HIV the same as the Elisa test used for rheumatoid arthritis?.. Is the Elisa just a standard antibody test that is not disease specific and if reactive then a specific test is used?..
Avatar f tn There are different HIV antibody tests. One test is the ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay). If the ELISA test is positive, a second test called a Western blot is done to confirm the result. The Western blot takes longer to perform and is more expensive than the ELISA test, but it is more precise.
Avatar m tn ohh ok.thank you.so elfa test is elisa test and antigen test combined.right?
Avatar f tn my doctor is said to me to give pcr-rt (quantitative) test? what is pcr? I am very worried.
Avatar m tn i have got an elisa test done for hiv 3 years after exposure. my test confirmed that i was negative. do i need to get retested or can i be assured that i am hiv negative. and yeah thanks for answering my previous questions, it helped me a great deal. you all are doing a great job , thumbs up....
