Avatar m tn A western blot test is NOT a diagnostic test period.
Avatar n tn My girlfriend been showing the similar symptoms too and she has 6 week laboratory duo elisa test, 9 week insti, 10 week laboratory duo elisa, 12 week + 1 day 2 instiĀ“s. Are this home test really reliable or does she need to go to the laboratory for duo elisa confirming negative result?
Avatar n tn Jose is talking about elisa 3th gen.test ..he always give same answers to Elisa.8 weeks and re-test 12 weeks i know. but for 4th generation tests he says 28 days is conclusive. please look ( for 32 days ) http://www.medhelp.org/posts/HIV---International/Hiv/show/1985253 he suggest 4th generation to be cunclusive. again he says negatve duo test is conclusve at 4 weeks http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn Yes i accepted it... but after read this article i get confused, if same thing happen to me... because i only done Elisa & EIA test for hiv, i have not done any DNA or PCR test... so i started to worry.
Avatar f tn Your WB test is negative at this point (nearly 50 days; less than 2 months). It is most likely that you are un-infected. However, as a possibility of still 5-10% chance, it is worthwhile to not donate blood for 6 months post exposure. A negative WB or ELISA at 3 months will however make you 99% negative and at 6 month, 100% negative. If there is an emergency to donate, a negative Your WB test is negative at this point (nearly 50 days; less than 2 months).
Avatar m tn but i was very anxious and i re- tested 6 weeks after my exposure also negative thank god again.... my first test was plain elisa (at the national hospital) ok now the second one was done to a private clinic and it was the4th gen duo test with the p 24 antigen,,,,( i ve done some reasearch about it in my efford to get some knoladge on the topic)... And in the private clinic they said to me that 3- 6 months is the window period and that i should get re tested at 6 months!!!????
Avatar m tn people keep mentioning the tests as though there is one ELISA test for HIV1 and another ELISA test for HIV2. This is not the case, a single ELISA test is looking for antibodies produced for HIV1 and HIV2. In the UK specifically I now know that whether a third or fourth generation test is used they are both testing for HIV1 and HIV2 antibodies (in the fourth generation the anitgen part is only detecting HIV1 I believe).
Avatar n tn I had vagina unprotected sex with a girl from Russia(She told me she is HIV- and she gave me a recent ELISA test of her which proves that she is HIV- ,but I don't trust her very much, because this test in Greece can be done without confirmation of your name so she could sent someone else instead of her to do the test using her name). Anyway I hope she is telling me the truth and she is not HIV +,but, you know I have to be sure .So.....
Avatar m tn Hello Doctors, Excuse my bad english. First, thank you very much for all what you are doing. I am a French guy established in Canada for a few months, 6 weeks and 2 days after a low risk sexual exposure, I remained very worried so I performed an HIV test "Elisa combo p24" that came back negative. I know that this result is conclusive according to your previous answers on this forum.
Avatar n tn No, it would not effect the test in any way. Be it at 3 months or at any time.
634590 tn?1293774093 i want to go Saudi Arabia and they perform Elisa test to detect hepatitis B and C. Plz my PCR is still negative 6 years post tx. But i hv heard that Elisa will remain positive for life time. Is it true?
Avatar f tn ))GOD BLESS.
Avatar m tn no risk, just extremely interested in different countries views on when a "conclusive" result is given. I'm from UK and it seems that the DUO test is most recognised ELISA test and they seem to suggest 28+ day test is conclusive and only reason 3 month test is requested is to cover the medical bodies. IN your experience how many people who test neg at 6 weeks on DUO test then go onto test positive at 3 months??
Avatar n tn I took an instant 4rth Generation DUO test at a local GUM Clinic in london (for duo results were given in 20 minutes ,its not a lab test ) and ELISA Test 45 days after possible exposure .Both tests came back negative 45 days after possible exposure . I am very stressed if taking PEP for 4 days could have affected the test results ? When should I get tested again? I am very scared to get tested again please advise .
Avatar m tn I call the private lab and asked about which kind of test it was and they told me MEIA first, after that she told me it was an ELISA 3rd Generation... it was just a secretary on the phone, it wasnt a DR. Now researching on the web I find that this kind of test (HIV Combo ag/ab antigen p24 antibody p24) its seems to be a 4th generation elisa.. My questions are... 1. Is this test a 4th generation ELISA? 2. Is it accurate at 2 months 10 days? if so how much? 3. Should i stay do a new test?

Avatar m tn I was extremely worried so took an ELISA Architect Duo test 31 days (4.5 weeks) post the most recent exposure. The result was eqivocal with a score of 2.1 - this result was sent to the reference lab where they have a better testing process which then returned a negative result 6 days later on the P24 Antigen test and Antibody test (not sure what testing method used for Antibody) On the same day that I recieved these results I went back to the same screening lab and had a second blood test.
Avatar m tn That is the wrong test at 6 weeks. You can test with an antibody test at 6 weeks if you like then retest at 3 months post exposure to obtain your conclusive test result.
1498017 tn?1289003772 I am wondering is anyone that has a current diagnosis of Lyme Disease had a negative ELISA test when first tested. I had a rash with a bullseye a few years ago and have been going downhill ever since. All my symptoms match Lyme Disease but my test was negative. After some testing my doc thinks I have myasthenia gravis, but I have more symptoms that do not go with that disease. I did not go to the doc when I noticed the bite because it didn't hurt. I just thought it was a spider bite.
Avatar f tn Hiye, this may seem a silly question but is the Elisa test that is used for HIV the same as the Elisa test used for rheumatoid arthritis?.. Is the Elisa just a standard antibody test that is not disease specific and if reactive then a specific test is used?..
