Avatar f tn m reading there are different types of igG tests? Herpeselect and Elisa? There is no indication of any specific type of test on my paperwork, at least that I can see.
Avatar m tn ok means if in future i test by elisa and this value may become 0.80.....its still not risk ?
Avatar m tn Not true at all. Those numbers due mean something and they are on all ELISA tests.
Avatar f tn I apologize for the umpteenth time I post a question in this forum, I hope one among this forum can help me to calm my mind, 1. I do HIV ELISA test using VIDAS test equipment and bio merieuox in day 77 and the results are NON reaktive, but there is a unit number Tv = 0.003, so what is the purpose of the unit numbers, 2.
Avatar m tn SIR, I taken the test result : HIV I & II (ELISA) 0.08 REACTIVE > 0.500, NON-REACTIVE<0.150. LET ME THE WHAT IS MEANING OF THIS NUMBERS? COULD I AFFECTED WITH HIV? OR MILDLY? pls help.
Avatar m tn I am no more impressed with the sensitivity of the immunoblot than the ELISA, regardless of the numbers. The immunoblot is a color change test, it doesn't give a numeric value. So it would be easy to over-read it and get greater sensitivity. If you want greatest sensitivity to HSV 1, I prefer the western blot hands down. Nothing you took 10 years ago will influence a test that you take now, no worries there.
Avatar m tn The criteria for an ELISA for HIV is 1 for a positive . So stating that numbers don't tell anyone about his status is incorrect. Numbers is what is used to determine their test results.
Avatar m tn Elisa is really good at hsv2 (97~%) but not as good for hsv1 (90-91%) after 4 mobths have passed. After 16 weeks WB is superior to Elisa. Elisa is slightly better than biokit. No herpes doesnt cause any dead cells or ling term effects unless there was a bacterail infection additional to the viral lesion but his is very rare and would not go unnoticed.4 I cant say but everyone has little white bumps, ireegularities, ingrown hairs etc.
Avatar m tn Hi, I had a protected(double condoms) sex with a prostitute, after 20 days i got shingles ,after 20 days of encounter i tested for hiv ELISA method and the test value was 0.02 non reactive, and the refrence range was like this >0.9 non reactive 0.9-.1 intermediate <1 reactive again i got flu and cold which lasted for 15 days, swollen nodes and throat pain, disturbed stomach, i again tested after 55 days,i tested non reactive with a value of 0.
Avatar m tn one is elisa and 2nd is cima. i carried out my two test with gap of 3 month with 1st test performed by elisa system and 2nd is cima system. and i found difference between their result?
Avatar m tn Your doctor is right, everybody will have numbers if an ELISA test is done. .16 is a negative HerpeSelect test (it seems like you had this test done, but of course I'm not 100%) and .43 is a negative Chlamydia result IF anything below .90 is negative. You could also test for gonorrhea if you are getting a full STD screen. However, your other results are conclusive. Herpes tests can take up to 4 months to become positive, but oral sex is very low risk.
Avatar m tn So in short less then a month or during ARS, PCR RNA tests is best (9 -11 days after the exposure) but after a month a PCR DNA test would be best, but at this point an Elisa test would work just as good and without the risk of false positive which would make most people here go crazy. 6. RNA PCR is for early detection, test at the 14 th day after the exposure backed up by an antibody test at the 12th week is good enough to rule out HIV.
Avatar n tn ELISA test is recorded in numbers. Western Blot is recorded in by by bands. No bands in the Western blot your negative. In the ELISA if the control is, say 1.6. You would have to have over a 1.6 to be considered positive.
Avatar f tn Absolutely there is a need to confirm both of these values. I would suggest the western blot. You can obtain a test kit from the University of Washington and have your health care provider draw and send the blood or my clinic can arrange testing for you if you become a phone patient of ours. There is about a 40% chance that the HSV 2 could be a false positive.
Avatar n tn I got my HIV rapid test(came -ve) after 40 days from my risk and report showd me two test result for ELISA and WB test that means i had +ve ELISA test at that time which was confirmed -ve by WB test?, as i wasnt aware about these tests at that time so i couldnt asked in detailed from the expert in that testing lab about having (ELISA + WB) togetherl. And i cant even ask now as i lost the report and lab is out of town as well.
Avatar m tn Hi, in simple terms, what are that tests numbers that indicate a positive and what numbers indicate a negative. Most test use a below 1 as negative and above 1 a positive.
Avatar m tn I have now done a 6weeks test after the initial test and it is also Negative and i have not slept with anyone between the 1st test and the 2nd. My question, what are the chances of this changing to Positive? Please doctor help me, i have been so stupid and now i am paying for it. I have had no symptoms of HIV at all.
Avatar m tn If you came here even before you tested, you'd have been told no need to test. You had no risk. False positives and quirks on the Elisa test are not uncommon and you will NOT get HIV from your sexual encounter you wrote of here. The only way adults get HIV is from sharing of IV drug needles or UNPROTECTED vaginal or anal (penetration required ) sex. So, no. No confirmatory testing you do will show you to have gotten HIV from protected sex.
Avatar m tn I’m thinking of having another blood test done with a lab that uses an ELISA Test – but I have read there is risk with false positives on this test, would I be at risk of gaining a false positive? I have not had sex since that last encounter due to depression and anxiety which I seem to be getting over now so I’m hopeful of getting back into the dating game, hence my sudden fear that i may be carrying something that i could pass on.
