My dr again run the PCR RNA test at 26 the NOV 2010 it was undetectable and again he sent some samples to the laboratories for HIV tests.
HSV 1 IgG = 5 Positive
HSV 2 IgG= 1.0 Equivocal
Since Elisa was not conclusive, they performed a second test:
Immunoblot :
HSV 1 IgG Sérum Positive
HSV 2 IgG Sérum Positive
Does that mean that I have HSV2? Dr S. told me that my clinical signs make him think that I have genital HSV1 but at the same time he says that Immunoblot is very accurate...
What do you think? Please let me know.

The most common immunoblot test is by Focus, just as your ELISA test. It's really a variation on the same test -- using a blot technology, rather than ELISA, to detect a positive result. As suggested above, I would recommend WB as the next test you should do.
There are some superb herpes experts in Montreal. I'm thinking in particular about a colleague at Institut National de Santé Publique du Québec.
for any torontonians reading this - warnex labs in montreal does do ELISA typing, but their partner in ontario is gamma-dynacare who they say 'always offers the immunoblot, which is the test of choice'. so maybe the false positive issues that surround the elisa don't surround the immunoblot?? who knows.
I am 42 yrs olds healthy man from Spain live in Montreal. Recently I had a sexual relation with a woman I knew for a while but I do not know her Hiv status, although she said she is safe, but fear does not listen rationality. The nature of exposure was protected vaginal intercourse and unprotected oral sex. I was receptive and both she and I have healthy gums. There was mutual masturbation involved as well.

I just wanted to get all the test done he possible could do before I went to Montreal. That way if they decided to do a spinal tap up there, I wouldn't have to wait 4-5 days before I came home and them wait the month for results and loose more time from work.
As far as flare ups, I don't really have any to mention. My symptoms are constant, other than my days off I just want to sleep all day.
my doctor is said to me to give pcr-rt (quantitative) test? what is pcr? I am very worried.
There is a lot of new tests but elisa is just the type of test, there are 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation of elisas, and there continue to be a lot of research for new tests, the newest teste tend to be rapid test accurate as elsia tests, there has been also improvement also in the NAAT tests, and some labs are trying to come up with a new 5th generation rapid test (PCR+Antibody+p24) but is not ready yet.
My husband had positive elisa test with 3.45 value in august 2016 for hepatitis c. Then he got treatment aND it showed 0.85 value in January 2017. He got checked his hepatitis C by elisa test again two days back. It showed a value of 85.0. He's active n doing job. No cough or any other symptoms. He did it as just a routine checkup. Please guide if elisa test can be 85.0 ?? What should we do next? Much worried! !

About a week or so ago I needed to get a medical check for work. When I got my results back, I was shocked to be told that the Elisa test came back as HIV reactive at 1.52. They tested it twice. I really have no idea what that number stands for, though.
I don't have sex. No girlfriend. And I don't sleep with street workers. As far as I can remember, I have not come into contact with blood (except when killing mosquitoes).
hello, i had protected sex with an hiv positive girl (i just discovered), i had sex with her twice, but she gave me several oral sex, i saw some blood on my penis in one of them, from her mouth i think.. i have no symptoms untill now, i did Elisa test 52 days after 1st time and 20 days after last time and today it´s been 2 months since 1st time (the day i saw the blood) and 1 month after our last time.
Hi i Just wanted to know how accurate is ELISA third generation tests is,
my last sex was at 04/11/2010 i did the first test on 22/1/2011 the result wasELISA : HIV1&HIV2 NEGATIVE (0.15) i started to get worried of the number so i did a second test on 15/2/2011 just to make sure that i completed 3 monthes and the rsult came ELISA : HIV1&HIV2 NEGATIVE (0.33) i freeked out why that number is keeping rising !!
This is a repetitive quetion. Do you think my answer will change because you have asked the same question twice? They will not. Medications do not make the symptoms of the ARS go away.
You have not looked hard enough in Montreal. Theyre are many excellent clinics which care for persons with and at risk for HIV there.
Their lab uses the “Herpe Select” Immunoblot test for HSV. It does both Igm/IgG testing if required. This test is NOT covered by Public Health Plan - Cost is 140$ Lab is based in Montreal. The turn around time is 1-2 weeks.
The test by Immunoblot HSV1 is 92%-100% accurate.
The test by Immunoblot HSV2 is 98%-100% accurate.
Public Health (in Ontario at least) does IgG HSV ELISA/EIA testing.
