54 days post possible exposure, I took a DNA PCR HIV test, an ELISA test, and HCV RNA PCR which both came back negative. My liver tenderness still persists and I am following up with ultrasound etc... I just find this quite a coincidence about with timing between incident and symptoms.
Here is my question: Can the DNA PCR HIV test and ELISA test of negative be considered conclusive by todays methods and standards at 54 days?
I had manual contact of my penis w/saliva from a man who was touching self. Day 3 - tip of my penis burned and I had sharp shocks & tingling in genitals. Went on for weeks but resolved after Myconazol for a week. Day 10 - tested neg for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, & HIV. HSV1 IGG 0.40, HSV2 IGG 0.09, HSV IGM TITER <1:10 (<1:10), HSV IGM “Detected by EIA but negative by confirmatory IFA. Day 11: one side of meatus was raised compared to other - as if by a blister under skin.
I had taken 2 Elisa test and 2 HIV DUO test and one rapid test this year (last DUO and Rapid test yesterday) all of them were negative. I had taken these tests in Bangalore, I am little worried if these test were reliable as i have very little idea on the sensitivity and reliability of the testing centres.
The PCR HIV test usually returns in 5 to 7 days. We offer the HIV PCR DNA test along with the Standard Elisa HIV Test. The Standard Test usually returns the next day. This testing combo is the best and only way to detect early infection.
PCR is so sensitive, that there is a possibility of false positive results. Indeterminate results are also possible. It is our policy that any positive tests will be repeated on a new blood draw sample at no additional cost to you.

Hello, i have a question about the validity of an elisa test when a severe allergic reaction, tetanus shot, sinusitis, three different medications; two antihistamines one oral steroid were present prior to testing. I tested positive on two seperate tests for hsv 2, first being 4.70 second being 8.39, the indexes were exactly the same and the tests were done only 8 days apart.
my doctor is said to me to give pcr-rt (quantitative) test? what is pcr? I am very worried.
There is a lot of new tests but elisa is just the type of test, there are 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation of elisas, and there continue to be a lot of research for new tests, the newest teste tend to be rapid test accurate as elsia tests, there has been also improvement also in the NAAT tests, and some labs are trying to come up with a new 5th generation rapid test (PCR+Antibody+p24) but is not ready yet.
My husband had positive elisa test with 3.45 value in august 2016 for hepatitis c. Then he got treatment aND it showed 0.85 value in January 2017. He got checked his hepatitis C by elisa test again two days back. It showed a value of 85.0. He's active n doing job. No cough or any other symptoms. He did it as just a routine checkup. Please guide if elisa test can be 85.0 ?? What should we do next? Much worried! !

About a week or so ago I needed to get a medical check for work. When I got my results back, I was shocked to be told that the Elisa test came back as HIV reactive at 1.52. They tested it twice. I really have no idea what that number stands for, though.
I don't have sex. No girlfriend. And I don't sleep with street workers. As far as I can remember, I have not come into contact with blood (except when killing mosquitoes).
hello, i had protected sex with an hiv positive girl (i just discovered), i had sex with her twice, but she gave me several oral sex, i saw some blood on my penis in one of them, from her mouth i think.. i have no symptoms untill now, i did Elisa test 52 days after 1st time and 20 days after last time and today it´s been 2 months since 1st time (the day i saw the blood) and 1 month after our last time.
Hi i Just wanted to know how accurate is ELISA third generation tests is,
my last sex was at 04/11/2010 i did the first test on 22/1/2011 the result wasELISA : HIV1&HIV2 NEGATIVE (0.15) i started to get worried of the number so i did a second test on 15/2/2011 just to make sure that i completed 3 monthes and the rsult came ELISA : HIV1&HIV2 NEGATIVE (0.33) i freeked out why that number is keeping rising !!
