I do hope that your father is better or being tested for leptospirosis and if he is weak then he may need antibiotics. They can test his blood and do a complete blood count to see how he is doing. Does he still have a fever? How about you do you have a fever still? If you have a strong immune system you should better for a while. It is best to get treated with antibiotics. It is not caused by a virus it is caused by a bacterium called Leptospira. Let me know if you have any more questions.

For humans to become infected with leptospirosis, it is required that exposure occur through cuts or abraded skin, mucous membranes or conjunctiva (of the eyes). In general, intact skin on the sole of the foot is not a route of exposure.

Lyme specialists use a completely different test (although usually in addition to ELISA and Western blot, as flawed as they are, because all data is useful). This newer test is called PCR, or polymerase chain reaction, which looks for evidence of Lyme bacteria's DNA or genetic material. The Lyme bacteria cannot suppress DNA, so the test is far more reliable than ELISA/Western blot.
i had a test for VDRL and it was positive but TPHA was negative. i never had sex with any one in my life. my all other test for hepatitis, malaria , HIV are negative. so what is it ? i mean why is VDRL positive?

My German Shepherd has lepto. Her creatinine is currently above 800 so she's in stage 4 kidney failure. She is at the vets on IV and antibiotics. Tomorrow we will do another blood test. I'm just curious as to her chances. When they increased her flow today her kidneys couldn't handle it and was starting to get "crackles" when she listened to her heart and breathing.

My little girl was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease in late June of this year. She has seen a specialist who though it may be worth while to test for Leptospirosis. Her tests came back with a low positive score so she was treated with antibiotics and confirmed with Lepto. After dealing with an uncaring vet I decided to move practices and have just found out that all the test and all the antibiotics were worthless.

There is a lot of new tests but elisa is just the type of test, there are 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation of elisas, and there continue to be a lot of research for new tests, the newest teste tend to be rapid test accurate as elsia tests, there has been also improvement also in the NAAT tests, and some labs are trying to come up with a new 5th generation rapid test (PCR+Antibody+p24) but is not ready yet.
My husband had positive elisa test with 3.45 value in august 2016 for hepatitis c. Then he got treatment aND it showed 0.85 value in January 2017. He got checked his hepatitis C by elisa test again two days back. It showed a value of 85.0. He's active n doing job. No cough or any other symptoms. He did it as just a routine checkup. Please guide if elisa test can be 85.0 ?? What should we do next? Much worried! !

About a week or so ago I needed to get a medical check for work. When I got my results back, I was shocked to be told that the Elisa test came back as HIV reactive at 1.52. They tested it twice. I really have no idea what that number stands for, though.
I don't have sex. No girlfriend. And I don't sleep with street workers. As far as I can remember, I have not come into contact with blood (except when killing mosquitoes).
hello, i had protected sex with an hiv positive girl (i just discovered), i had sex with her twice, but she gave me several oral sex, i saw some blood on my penis in one of them, from her mouth i think.. i have no symptoms untill now, i did Elisa test 52 days after 1st time and 20 days after last time and today it´s been 2 months since 1st time (the day i saw the blood) and 1 month after our last time.

my last sex was at 04/11/2010 i did the first test on 22/1/2011 the result wasELISA : HIV1&HIV2 NEGATIVE (0.15) i started to get worried of the number so i did a second test on 15/2/2011 just to make sure that i completed 3 monthes and the rsult came ELISA : HIV1&HIV2 NEGATIVE (0.33) i freeked out why that number is keeping rising !!
