Common Questions and Answers about Elisa test lassa fever

elisa-test

Avatar n tn They use the oraquick because for one you get results in 10 to 20 mins and they are reliable results plus they are FDA approved test the elisa test can take 2 to 5 days for the results why sit around with more worries when rapids are just as reliable with quick results Sorry Dr Hook if I am wrong about this
Avatar m tn Hey Doc, I did an ELISA test after day 11 of a potential risk exposure to HIV. Vaginal Sex. The test result came on non-reactive. How reliable is the ELISA test result after day 11th of exposure. It has been 42 days since my result came out. I do not seem to be suffering from flu like symptoms except for the allergic rhinitis which i get every morning or sore throat or even fever. Shall i get a second test done or is day 11th post exposure elisa test results is good enough? Kindly advise.
Avatar f tn In 31 days 98% correct.
Avatar n tn The rapid test came back as negative on the day and 2 weeks later the ELISA test came back as positive and the western blot test is indeterminate with a single band presented given a moderate reactivity to p24. I was shocked and scared. The doctor took another sample on the day he gave me the result. Now at 4 weeks after the unprotected sex, I had a Negative Rapid test and still waiting for result of the ELISA test.
Avatar n tn to get the result and ELISA test give result in 5 days atleast i ment to say that long period result means more accurate test rather then test conducted in 15 or 20 minuts.I had a rapid hiv test 8 months after my last unprotected sex which was conducted in private laboratery and comes out -ve.So how much reliable is rapid test after 8 months from last risk.
Avatar m tn I found out he is HIV positive. I had the ELISA test done and it showed negative for antibodies. I am curious about the likelihood (for instance a percentage) that I have been infected still despite that showing a negative since it was so short ago. I am desperate for help, I have been so worried. Please any help is desired! Thank you!
Avatar m tn I also had unprotected sex 4 weeks prior to this with some one I know and seriously doubt that encounter could have been the cause. Anyhow, while I still had the fever,I visited a sex health clinic who administered a rapid test on me (blood based not oral). The person giving me the test told me that it was essential for a 4 week window to have passed for the test results to be valid. The results came back negative while I waited.
Avatar f tn Greetings I had protected sex, no oral play with a massage parlor worker 4 months back. This week my elisa test came back reactive while western blot test indicated negative result for hiv. I assume this is a false positive result for elisa. I also did 2 oraquick tests which were negative. Do you think o am infected?
Avatar f tn Hi,I had protected vaginal sex with a man and unprotected oral. He said that he donates blood regularly. But at 26. day the symptoms started including swollen lymphe nodes and sore throat. No fever. 39. Days i got tested antibody &p 24 antigen test and it was negative. after again ,I called him and he said again he is clear but for my peace of mind ,he tested again 5-6 days later he messaged me that" my results came. all clear" Should I be scared still ???
Avatar n tn developed so i had also posted question in this forum and was advised for test so get tested for HIV- both from elisa-4th generation as well as p24 antigen detection ( at the time of test, fever, cold etc etc present) exactly one month after the sex. result of the test is NON-RECTIVE (NEGATIVE) so sir, what you conclude from the test result?
Avatar m tn Sir, I was having protected sex with a prostitute but the condom tore slightly in the end. after 5 months i got recurring fever for 15 days the fever used to come in evening and vanish after eating paracetamol..i was tested typhoid positive by Widal test but my illness was finally cured by Lumerax 80(malaria) tablet( i was tested negative for malaria). I was afraid of HIV..i tested myself after 7 months by ELISA HIV Duo ultra and it came to be negative...inspite of this i am afraid...
Avatar m tn Flu and fever only. Had a few episodes of diarhea and fever again a couple of months after exposure. Really worried I was. The tests results (All 4th Gen CMIA ones): cuff off was 1 in all cases 1 month = non reactive (0.10) 2 months = non reactive (0.20) 3 months = non reactive (0.22) 4.5 Months = non reactive (0.28) 22 Week (5.75 months) = non reactive (0.19) Is it necessary that i need another test at exactly 6 months ? or 3 months is conclusive ? Some websites state 6 months is necessary.
Avatar f tn At 28 days from my last sexual exposure to the person I had a DNA PCR test through Labcorp that came back negative. At 55 days from last exposure I then got an ELISA test through Labcorp again that came back negative. About a week after I got the PCR results back I got a fever blister in my throat that went away after a few days. I had no other symptoms of anything: no fever, rash, muscle aches, etc.
Avatar m tn Now I am really worried. I have tested for HIV test. My elisa test is postive and western blot is negative.I was tested 7 months after that sex episode. I have developed so much anxiety that i keep getting tested. My elisa keeps on coming positive and western blot is negative. last test was done after 1 year. 1. do you think I have tested too late that western blot is not able to detect antibodies.? I know that elisa test has some false positive results....2.
Avatar m tn I had unprotected vaginal sex with a girl I met (not a csw), couple of weeks later, i got all types of symptoms, white dots on my tongue with a very bad breath, severe headaches, fever, nausea & diarrhea. took a rapid antibody test (finger test) at 9 weeks, was negative. took another Elisa Duo test at 11 weeks and 13 weeks also negative. took a full hepatitis test (A,B,C & E) on week 10, all negative.
Avatar f tn No, the antibody component is not "weaker" than that of a standard antibody test. Both tests are accurate. Your test was conclusive, again. The fever is not related. Your temp was about 99.5, that's not consistent with an ARS related fever anyway. Fevers, when they are associated with a new HIV infection are almost always very high (above 101F). What you describe (feeling warm inside) sounds like anxiety. You need to put this behind you once and for all.
