i have sexual relationship before 13 years and before 2 years I did the elissa test twice in different labs and the result was negative, im planning to marry after 3 months but im still very scared from HIV.
My question did the antibody which detected by elissa test, could be appear even after 13 years of the sexual relationship?
If I want to do test what type do you suggest taking in consideration the 13 years?
hello, i had protected sex with an hiv positive girl (i just discovered), i had sex with her twice, but she gave me several oral sex, i saw some blood on my penis in one of them, from her mouth i think.. i have no symptoms untill now, i did Elisa test 52 days after 1st time and 20 days after last time and today it´s been 2 months since 1st time (the day i saw the blood) and 1 month after our last time.
Teak, please please answer this for me. If I was to take a FINAL antibody test at 6 months which one would you take? HIV 1/O/2 by ICMA or HIV 1/O/2 by ELISA?
Hi, i am 28 years male, Actually I had unprotected veginal sex 3 month ago with a high risk prostitute.
I had done 2 HIV Test, at 3 month post exposure,
both I took same day different Lab, When i took the result I found CMIA came Negative, and ELISA (I dont know wich gen) came Possitive, how possible is this ?
Please tell me the right way , what i should to do ?
I am very scared about HIV.

There is a lot of new tests but elisa is just the type of test, there are 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation of elisas, and there continue to be a lot of research for new tests, the newest teste tend to be rapid test accurate as elsia tests, there has been also improvement also in the NAAT tests, and some labs are trying to come up with a new 5th generation rapid test (PCR+Antibody+p24) but is not ready yet.
so it looks like both large labs that offer typespecific testing in canada - lifelabs and gamma-dynacare - only offer focus' immunoblot test. i understand that this test has the same false positive issues that surround the ELISA, but it doesn't offer a numeric guideline to aid in interpretation of the results, so i'd rather not have it done if there's any possible alternative. does anyone know of any lab offering the focus ELISA in toronto? or of a tstd.
6 years ago I had protected sex with a csw and because of fear of condom breakage, i was too stressed. Finally after 2 years of this exposure, i took hiv elisa test and the result came 0.11. I dont know which generation of the test was. But my question is that, is this result absolutely conclusive or will i need to take some more tests? Although i got the test from a reputated laboratory but again i am too anxious that they might make some mistakes. Does it happen in the labs usually?
My interpretation is #1 is the standard screening test (ELISA). If the test is positive then the western blot is done automatically. This is the standard testing for lyme that most non-lyme specialists order. I just wonder how much it costs if the test is negative and no further testing is done. It should be a lot less. The ELISA is not very reliable and misses a large percentage of lyme cases. #2 is the western blot in itself.
I think this is what it means but I'm not sure.
So I had the ELISA test done several times all with negative results about 6 months ago. I also had a western blot test from Imugen which only showed a positive band for 41 which is very common.
I just need some kind of conformation that I defiantly have lyme. I just ordered an Igenex kit. Which test should I have done? My Doc doesn't think I have any co-infections and recommended the western blot again if I do any. Is this the best one?
After a high risk exposure I had a primary herpes outbreak. Apparently I had it in my system and had been dormant. Along with my herpes outbreak I also experienced a month or two of numbness and tingling in hands and feet. Followed by joint discomfort. Wrists, ankles and even toes. Now this week I'm feeling discomfort in both armpits. I am 5 1/2 months out, still have urge to **** and been getting hemorroids.
I was tested for HIV 1&2 neg at 98 days with ELISA test and at 137 days.
A friend of mine took a random HIV test, the ELISA blood test at a diagnostic lab and the result came out positive. Completely aghast, my friend took a retest at the same lab and went to two other hospitals to get tested. One of the two hospitals conducted the ELISA on two separate kits, both these kits reported negative results.The other hospital too reported a negative result.
m also wondering how come my elisa test came back in only 48 hours, I read online that it usually takes as long as 1-2 weeks.
I know from reading several posts that the comment ''your test is conclusive'' will be added by another user, but i'm just trying to get some more information on the testing procedure that could help me and hopefully help anyone that will read your further replies.
