A friend of mine took a random HIV test, the ELISA blood test at a diagnostic lab and the result came out positive. Completely aghast, my friend took a retest at the same lab and went to two other hospitals to get tested. One of the two hospitals conducted the ELISA on two separate kits, both these kits reported negative results.The other hospital too reported a negative result.
Positive for HSV-2, negative for others ( HIV, HSV1, Hepatitis, Syphilis, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea ). The herpes test kit used was HerpeSelect ELISA for HSV-1 and HSV-2. Specifically, the HerpeSelect 1 ELISA result was 0.35 and the HerpeSelect 2 ELISA result was 8.79
I repeated the tests in September 2009. A different provider who also used HerpeSelect ELISA. Same results as the testing in May - postive for HSV-2, negative for all others.
However, the testing center at my hospital could not give me an appointment for those 4 weeks for ELISA testing, after which I asked my senior if he could write orders for me so that I could get it tested from a private lab.(We don't have ready kits in our country). So I was told that it was of no use then as I did not have a baseline.

I do HIV ELISA test using VIDAS test equipment and bio merieuox in day 77 and the results are NON reaktive, but there is a unit number Tv = 0.003, so what is the purpose of the unit numbers, 2.
i had an unprotected vaginal sex with a women who is hiv +. After 6 weeks i did anti hiv elisa antibody test(in turkey used 3. Generation kits). And it is negative. What is the chance the test can turn positive or not. İ am 30 years old healthy , no drugs ,no alchol and sports man. Now it is 2. Years after test and i afraid of to do a new test.

The Wblot/ELISA tests rely on your immune system reaction to determine whether you have a positive (+) test or a negative (-) test for Lyme.

So, I have used the Rapid Test Kits (2nd to 9th week – each week I got tested) that I have ordered on line and the results are negative Thanks God but still not sure that these online Chinese test kits from Singapore are reliable enough to get me the right results.

a rapid test is fine at any stage, results dont change 1 year or 10 years assuming its based on the particular risk you just posted and no any other risk.
Terrified, I got myself tested using HIV ELISA antibody test after 60 days of exposure, which turned out to be negative. On the 83rd day post exposure, I got another HIV ELISA antibody test done ( test report said that the test detects both HIV I and HIV II antibodies), which turned out be negative as well.
Now a days, almost all the quality clinical laboratories use fourth generation test kits worldwide.
